Extended Summary

Bree is having a surf, clearly enjoying herself. Alf and John are down on the beach as she comes back; Alf is fishing and quips she’s lucky he didn’t catch her with the line. They exchange introductions. John realises she’s Cash’s doctor and introduces himself as well, asking after Cash. Bree tells them about Cash being discharged.

At the Parata house, Cash reflects to Felicity that he’d forgotten he had the ring, which he stuffed in the bag hoping he could convince Jasmine. He says she’s made her decision and he needs to deal with it. Felicity goes back to Tane and tells him what Cash said. She admits she doesn’t know how to help him.

At the hospital, Rose berates Amy for letting Cash leave. Amy points out it wasn’t her decision. Xander appears and Rose fills him in. Xander tries to tell her the doctors know what they’re doing but Rose calls it negligent. Xander asks if they can talk to Bree but Amy doesn’t know where she is and is about to go off shift. Xander convinces Rose to leave.

At the Diner, Roo complains to Irene about Marilyn’s attitude to Heather. Alf comes in and Roo wonders if he’s seen anything wrong with Marilyn. She considers that Marilyn might have come off her medication but Irene doesn’t think so since she’s fine with the customers. Roo tells Alf to sort it because she doesn’t want Marilyn scaring off her client.

Rose and Xander are walking near the surf club. Rose sees Bree and abruptly asks her about discharging Cash. Bree says it’s best for his recovery: He was going to leave either way and he’ll continue his treatment and Felicity will look after him. Rose doesn’t think it was right but Bree says she’s the doctor and Rose will just have to trust her.

Tane tells Cash the food is out. Cash says he’s not hungry but Tane convinces him to come out anyway. Cash sits at the table but has brought the box containing the ring with him and tells Felicity to leave it when she goes to move it. Meanwhile, Alf approaches Marilyn outside the caravan park house and asks her about Roo’s concerns. Marilyn continues to insist that Heather is a problem but can’t offer any explanation for why Heather has spooked her. She says Roo should have come to her instead of Alf.

Tane and Felicity have finished eating. Cash has barely touched his and makes to go back to his room. Felicity challenges him to a game of cards and they banter about how she always won the family games of Uno. However, while she’s getting the cards, Cash disappears back into his room. Felicity reflects on how she’s been where Cash is and he gave her gentle nudges. Tane offers to stay but Felicity declines, saying she’s going to talk Cash into going for a walk. Rose rings from the Diner flat and has a short conversation with Felicity, who says Cash is okay. Xander tries to calm Rose but she is annoyed that neither Felicity nor Bree called her after she risked her job to help Cash. Xander says Cash just has a lot going on.

At the Diner, Irene comments to Bree that it’s probably for the best that Cash is with Felicity and Tane. Bree looks momentarily distracted but accepts Irene’s offer of a chocolate muffin. Xander and Rose come in but, on seeing Bree, says she’s changed her mind and walks out. Xander tells Irene it’s been a long day.

Felicity finds Cash staring at the ring again. He says he thought it was the answer to everything. Felicity offers to hang onto it. After a bit of consideration, Cash hands it over. Felicity says she could take care of it or smash it with a hammer. Cash says it doesn’t matter what she does with it. Felicity promises him he matters to her.

John drives up to Tane near the beach and asks him how things are going with Cash. Tane says John can ask him, as Cash approaches with Felicity. John says Cash can come over to his place any time he wants someone else to talk to and drives off. Cash tells Felicity he wants to carry on walking on his own. Felicity is nervous and tells him to keep his phone on.

Marilyn paces back and forth until Roo arrives. Roo is bewildered that Marilyn thought she wasn’t safe. Alf insists the two of them sit down and sort things out. Marilyn is upset that Roo didn’t talk to her and continues to say that she always listens to her intuition and now Heather is living right next to them. Roo refuses to turn down Heather as a client just because of Marilyn’s feelings and says they have to agree to disagree but appreciates Marilyn looking out for her. Alf says he could do with a cuppa. Roo says he knows where the kettle is and Marilyn asks him to make her one too.

Tane approaches Felicity at the surf club. She is fretting about Cash but Tane tells her he hasn’t been gone too long. Bree comes over and Felicity fires off a stream of questions about how much she should push Cash. Bree suggests she let Cash take the lead; a walk is fine and she should carry on talking to him. Meanwhile, Rose finds Cash sitting by the beach and joins him. Cash says that he’s realised things were never going to work out with Jasmine and he shouldn’t have encouraged Rose and Xander to move to the Bay. Rose offers him support but Cash says he can’t be around her and Xander and needs space.

Xander goes into Salt to pick up an order and runs into Bree there. He apologises for Rose. Bree wonders what the deal is with her, saying at first she thought Rose was Cash’s wife. Xander says it’s a long story and Bree says some other time. Xander goes back to the flat and finds Rose in a morose mood. She tells him what Cash said. Xander understands why he feels that way. Rose says that Jasmine’s not coming back and she’s lost the only friend she’s made, so she’s not sure what she’s still doing in Summer Bay.
