Extended Summary

Tane and Eden follow Felicity away from the surf club. She explains she got a call from Cash summoning her to the hospital. Tane offers to take her but Felicity declines, since she doesn’t know what she’s walking into. Tane says to call her if he needs anything. After Felicity’s gone, Eden tells Tane about having to leave for the support gig.

At the hospital, Cash is threatening to walk out. Bree says he won’t get far without shoes or a wallet and he’ll leave against medical advice. Felicity arrives and Cash insists he can’t stay there, adding that he’s had a counselling session and has more booked. Felicity doesn’t think one counselling session is enough and offers to stay there for the night, then they can talk it over in the morning.

Nikau and Heather are lying next to each other in bed. Heather jokingly asks if he’s normally this talkative and guesses he’s thinking about his ex. Nikau assures her it was great but Heather decides to go. Tane and Eden arrive back with Tane assuring her Felicity will be fine about the gig. They are surprised to see Heather, who briefly introduces herself before Nikau shows her out. Nikau refuses to explain.

At the Diner, Marilyn is complaining to Irene about Heather, just before Heather turns up, saying she just came from the gig. Marilyn quickly leaves. Heather asks for a coffee or tea or water but Irene says they’re closing up. Heather explains she’s spending the night in her car prior to moving into the caravan park. Irene invites her to spend the night at hers.

Tane chats to Felicity on the phone and explains the situation to Eden, who says she’s got a shift in the morning before being away for a couple of days. She leaves as Nikau emerges. Tane comments that it’s not like Nikau to bring random women home. Nikau says he and Bella are done and he’s allowed to move on. Next morning, Nikau is on duty at the beach. Heather appears from a swim and Nikau asks how the water is. Heather says they can do better than small talk and invites him to shout her breakfast. Nikau says he’ll meet her at Salt when he’s finished setting up.

Felicity finds Cash already dressed and ready to leave but wants to speak to the doctors first. Bree arrives and Felicity tells her Cash barely slept. Bree says Cash’s physio is waiting for him and he still needs to get full lung capacity back. Felicity tells him to go and she’ll deal with this, then tells Bree he can’t go on like this.

Nikau and Heather are eating on the balcony, with her noting she thought he’d built up an appetite. She asks if he hated it or if he’s breaking up with her because she thought they were serious, then cracks up laughing. They both agree to keep it casual. Heather says she has plans that don’t include Nikau. Eden comes over and asks if she can get them anything. Heather asks for two tickets to all her gigs, saying she was multi-tasking last night. Nikau calls her trouble.

Felicity reminds Bree she said Cash could leave. Bree says he still needs physio, occupational therapy and counselling. Felicity says he can do all that from home. Bree says medically she thinks he should be there but psychologically he would probably be better at home. Cash comes back and Bree says he can go home if he answers some questions properly.

Outside the caravan park, Roo tells Heather she’s in Van 7. Marilyn is sat nearby. Heather says she’s been putting all her money into the tutoring so won’t be able to afford to pay until she gets her bond back. Roo agrees and Heather walks off, after a look at Marilyn. Marilyn tells Roo that Heather makes her uncomfortable and queries her not being able to afford a caravan. Roo repeats Heather’s explanation. After Roo has gone, Marilyn turns over two tarot cards, the High Priestess and Three of Swords, and looks worried.

Tane approaches Nikau at the surf club to check in with him. Nikau insists he’s okay. Tane gets a call from Felicity. He heads to the house where Felicity turns up with Cash; he is moving in with them, since Felicity didn’t think he should go back to Irene’s. Tane says he can have Ari and Mia’s room and help himself to any food. Cash needs to rest and Felicity volunteers to show him to the room and get him some painkillers.

Marilyn is aghast that Irene let Heather stay with her and wonders why she told Roo she had somewhere to stay. She tells Irene about the reading and says the cards mean deceit and manipulation. Irene says she can’t crucify Heather on that. Bree arrives and says she thought she should explore the place. She tells Irene about Cash being discharged and how Felicity will need help. Irene is confused, since Cash lives with her, and Bree explains he went to Felicity’s.

Cash emerges from his room and Felicity gives him a hot drink. He thanks Tane for letting him stay. Irene arrives, having brought some quiche and salad, saying she’d have done something better if she’d had notice. She understands Cash not wanting to stay at hers without Jasmine but says the door’s open if he changes his mind. She asks about his things. Cash suggests getting the bag he took to the Shaws’ with a couple of extra t-shirts. Tane offers to go and get it.

Heather runs into Nikau again outside the surf club and tells him about moving into the caravan park. She mentions needing to find a way to afford it. Nikau stops Eden and suggests Heather for the job at Salt. Heather quickly agrees and Eden says she’ll put in a good word for her. She calls Felicity, who doesn’t really know who Heather is but agrees they can’t be choosy and says she’ll get her number off Nik. Tane arrives back with Cash’s bag, which he takes into his room. He starts to unpack it and is thrown to find the engagement ring.

Roo arrives at the Diner. Marilyn approaches her and insists she has a bad feeling about Heather. Roo insists Heather is committed to her study. Marilyn can’t offer any more evidence than a feeling and the cards but insists Heather’s trouble. Felicity goes in to see Cash after he fails to respond to knocks and calls. He is initially hiding the engagement ring in his hand, then shows it to her, explaining. Felicity comforts him.
