Extended Summary

Dean, Ziggy and Mackenzie walk near the beach. Ziggy and Mackenzie both try to get Dean to join them for a surf instead of going straight to the board shop but he declines. Nikau and Theo approach, arguing, with Theo refusing to take Nikau to the bus stop in Yabbie Creek. He tells Dean abou Nikau going to see Bella. Dean also refuses to take him. Walking away, Mackenzie comments to Ziggy that she thought Ziggy and Dean had sorted everything with Remi.

Remi arrives home and wonders what happened to Kirby last night. Kirby points out how many beers he drank and says she went to bed. Eden is at the hospital with Cash and Felicity; Remi was hoping she’d join him in ringing round to book more gigs. Kirby says she can help but then she gets a text from Theo and heads outside to meet him. Theo doesn’t want last night to be it but Kirby says the band has to come first and doesn’t want to break the rules again. Theo says he’ll stop if she tells him she doesn’t want to be with him again. Kirby says they can’t talk now and she’ll text him later.

At the Diner, Marilyn asks Roo when Alf will be there. Roo says he left early and is hoping that things are fine since she’s got used to being able to concentrate on her tutoring. Alf turns up and, after a bit of polite chit-chat, invites Roo to join him for a steak at Salt, insisting when she says it’s too early since he’s only had health food at Martha’s. Soon after, at Salt, Alf chats about how Martha is tending to her chooks. Roo asks him to get to what’s wrong but Alf says nothing is: He, Martha, Kieran and the chooks are all fine, and her food’s getting cold.

Dean continues to follow Nikau, asking if Bella knows he’s coming. Nikau says she’s not answering his calls and so he has to see her in person to explain. Dean says Bella obviously doesn’t want to talk to him. Nikau says he’ll get a cab to the airport if he has to but Dean brings him up short by revealing Tane told him all about the bikies and the gym money. He understands Nikau broke up with Bella to protect her. Nikau tries to get Dean to call Bella and explain, saying they love each other and she’s unhappy in New York, which was only meant to be temporary, but Dean refuses. Nikau storms off.

Theo and Kirby meet up on the beach. Kirby says she likes him but they made a promise to the band, and if they end badly, it could break the band up. Theo protests that they’re great together and Remi and Eden will see that. After looking around, Kirby takes his hands and says she has to keep the promise. She walks away.

Ziggy and Mackenzie arrive at Salt and Mackenzie asks if Dean knows Ziggy’s there. Ziggy wonders if he’d be annoyed. Mackenzie thinks Ziggy has been tiptoeing around Dean since he got angry about Remi. When Remi comes in, she goes into a panic and tells Mackenzie to get rid of him. Remi sits at the bar and Mackenzie says if he takes a seat she’ll get someone to take his order. Remi says he’s got a seat, then gets the message and moves to the table. Mackenzie gives Remi a coffee and he hopefully asks for everything on the house, saying he’ll pay for the coffee when they hit the big time. Mackenzie joins Ziggy and says Remi didn’t ask Ziggy to lie or force her to help him, so neither Dean nor Remi is the problem, Ziggy is.

At the Parata house, Dean turns up and asks Nikau if he’s seen Bella’s socials. Nikau admits he’s been avoiding them and Dean shows him. Nikau says she looks happy. Dean asks if he wants to rip her away from that to his next family disaster: The court case isn’t done and the bikies haven’t been sentenced, so it’s not over yet.

Kirby is sat outside the band’s house. Theo approaches with the guitar, singing to her. Kirby looks impressed. She drags him into the house and kisses him, before stressing that no-one can find out. She says no-one’s ever written a song for her before but to sing it in private next time. At the Diner, Roo tells Marilyn that everything’s fine with Alf meaning she’s free to concentrate on her tutoring. She then gets a phone call from another student.

Dean sats he knows things have been hard for Nikau recently but he needs to let Bella go. He tells him the first girl he was serious with meant everything to him but he had to let her go so she could move on. He wants Nikau to think about it, and if he still thinks he should be with Bella, Dean will drive him to the airport himself. After Dean has gone, Nikau looks at the computer where he was booking his flight and the options of “Confirm” or “Cancel”, having a flashback to his and Bella’s dance on the clifftop.

Mackenzie convinces Ziggy to go and sit with Remi. She apologises to him and he indicates it wasn’t the first time he’s been hit and probably won’t be the last. She also mentions that she got her car back and he got his van. Dean approaches and gets a text from Nikau saying he’s not going. He looks surprised to see Ziggy and Remi together. Ziggy blurts out that they were just talking and Remi leaves. Ziggy says she’ll get Dean a coffee. At the Diner, Marilyn tells Alf about Roo’s tutoring client. Alf goes over her and Roo suggests her client might spread the word at uni.

Mackenzie tells Ziggy to stop acting as if she’s done something wrong. Dean comes over and is confused when Ziggy invites him to eat with her and insists she had brunch by herself, saying he’s not hungry. Ziggy thinks that’s proof she’s not the one with the problem. Mackenzie tells them to stop avoiding what’s going on between them and figure it out.
