Extended Summary

Cash is trying to amuse himself at the surf club, while ringing the sergeant saying he’s available for any extra shifts if someone calls in sick. Rose and Xander come in and Xander comments on Cash being bored without Jasmine. He notes they’re going upstairs for dinner. Cash says he was going to do the same thing then, noticing Rose’s look, says he’ll go to the Diner for a burger instead. At the Morgan house, Theo asks Justin if he told his tutor that he took the laptop off him and wouldn’t let him near it. Justin says the tutor noted it was such a step up from the previous assignment that he didn’t believe Theo had done it. He says if Theo hadn’t deleted his version they’d have it as proof. The penny drops for Theo who decides to see if he can retrieve it.

At the gym, Chloe continues to pester Tane for information on the gym sale. Tane eventually says if Mia wanted her to have the details, she’d have told her. Meanwhile, Theo finds an old version of the file on the cloud. Justin offers to call the tutor but Theo says he’ll e-mail Mr Fernandez both versions. Chloe arrives as Justin goes to tell Leah. Chloe tells Theo there’s something weird about the way Ari and Mia bought the gym when they didn’t have any savings. Theo suggests it was an inheritance or they borrowed from family, noting his parents never talked to him about money. Chloe nearly calls Mia, then realises she’d be in bed. She asks if Theo’s tutor is likely to answer out of hours, then closes the laptop and suggests they distract themselves.

Next morning, Rose and Xander walk on the beach, discussing Cash respecting boundaries. Xander notes she’s got it bad for Cash and Rose worries Jasmine will find out and hate her. Xander says it’s Cash’s fault for getting her to lie. At the Morgan house, Justin and Theo have an awkward breakfast. Theo gets a text from his tutor: He can see the assignments are different but doesn’t think it proves anything so wants Theo to prove he knows the subject by taking an exam that morning. Justin tells him he doesn’t need a great mark, just to pass.

Chloe is on the phone to Mia near the surf club and isn’t convinced by her claim she had savings. Running into Irene, she asks what she knows about the sale of the gym. Irene says she and Jasmine never really spoke about it. She goes over to talk to Cash, telling him the Diner flat’s up for lease. Cash says they’re happy living with her and Irene explains she meant Rose and Xander. Cash is awkward but agrees to mention it to them. He heads down to the beach and sees Rose, who tries to walk away from him. He fails to convince her they need to sort things out as she says she feels gulty despite doing nothing wrong.

At the Diner, Irene comments on Justin coming in for coffee rather than sending Theo. Justin explains about him resitting the assessment. Xander comes in for a water and Irene asks if Cash told him about the vacant flat upstairs. Xander says he’ll call the agent but Irene explains Mackenzie gave her the key to show people around. Xander is bemused at the Summer Bay way of doing things but agrees to call round later that morning. Meanwhile, Cash approaches Rose again to apologise. He wants to be friends but she doesn’t think that’s possible unless he tells Jasmine the truth. She doesn’t feel able to answer a call from Jasmine. Xander comes along as Cash leaves and tells Rose about the flat. Rose isn’t sure she wants to live there anymore.

Chloe approaches Cash at the surf club and asks when Jasmine’s back. Cash doesn’t know and Chloe explains she has questions about the gym sale. Tane appears, on the phone to Mia, and quickly shuts down Chloe and Cash’s conversation. He tells Chloe not to call Jasmine and that if she keeps digging she won’t like what she finds. Chloe follows Tane into the gym. She knows Mia had to work two jobs to make ends meet so didn’t have $150,000 and it’s obviously dodgy. She half-seriously asks if they robbed a bank. Tane gives her a pointed look and Chloe realises it’s the money from the armed robbery.

Justin is fixing a car by the side of the road and tells a young woman with a pushchair that it won’t be long. He sees Theo, who thinks he did okay at the exam although he hasn’t got his mark back yet. Justin thinks that everything’s sorted but Theo replies that he has a permanent mark on his record: It was supposed to be a fresh start but instead everyone will think the worst of him. He tells Justin he won’t be going to him for help again. Meanwhile, Chloe expresses shock that Mia had the money all along. Tane says he didn’t know either and explains about how Mia and Ari wanted to prove they were financially stable for the adoption. He offers her a chance to walk away but Chloe thinks she owes Mia and Ari, trying to convince herself it doesn’t matter where the money came from.

Rose tells Xander it’s only a matter of time since Jasmine finds out and that she’ll tell her if Cash doesn’t. Xander thinks leaving town is a bit drastic, pointing out Rose likes it there, wants a relationship with Jasmine and gets to live closer to him. Rose declines to look at the flat with him. Meanwhile, Cash is alone at Salt. He calls Jasmine and says he needs to tell her something but just says Rose and Xander might be moving into Mackenzie’s old flat.

Xander is impressed with the flat when Irene shows him around. She advises him to put an offer in as soon as possible and he says it’s exactly what they’ve been looking for. Down on the beach, Rose calls her sergeant and says she thinks her transfer was a mistake.
