Extended Summary

Near the surf club, Chloe shows Tane a booking app she’s set up so people can sign up to boot camp, including profile pictures to help if there’s people with the same name. Theo comes up and announces that he got a distinction. Tane gives Chloe time off to celebrate with him. Theo thanks Chloe for giving him a push. At the Morgan house, Justin is sitting awkwardly when Theo and Chloe arrive. He starts to say something but when Theo assumes he’s going to say there’s beers in the fridge, he agrees. Justin makes a hasty exit, saying he has to get to the Diner to check the ovens. Chloe asks if Justin still thinks he wrote the assignment and Theo confirms he didn’t want to burst his bubble.

Felicity tells Mackenzie she knows some mega-rich people she could talk to. Mackenzie cuts the spiel off, saying it’s her problem. Felicity asks if Mackenzie has a plan. Mackenzie says their last idea went bad and she needs to tread the line. Felicity is annoyed that Mackenzie seems to assume the idea’s dodgy even though Mackenzie insists she trusts her. Ziggy arrives back just before Felicity leaves, frustrated. Near the surf club, Tane asks Dean how Mackenzie’s doing. Felicity storms over and complains about Mackenzie not listening to her idea. Tane reminds her Mackenzie trusted her to run Salt and Dean says that Mackenzie didn’t ask for help until she was desperate last time. Felicity says good luck to her sorting it out on her own.

Mackenzie rants about how the judge told her to make better decisions and she’s not going to drag anyone else into her problems again. Ziggy asks if Felicity was actually suggesting something dodgy and Mackenzie admits she cut her off before she got that far. Ziggy reminds her that Felicity’s last idea made money and Mackenzie admits she ruined it by being greedy but wants to do better this time. Meanwhile, Tane and Felicity meet up outside the surf club. Felicity recalls her school report said she was a bad influence. Tane says his said he should pay more attention to maths than sport, so what do they know. Felicity thinks trying to help Mackenzie and Salt failed so she should stick to waitressing.

Theo gets Chloe a drink and they discuss his combustion engine theory. Theo is surprised Justin didn’t want to celebrate with him. He gets a call from his tutor, Mr Fernandez, which quickly kills his mood. At the Diner, Justin is telling Leah he feels bad about talking to the tutor but Leah thinks he’s really feeling guilty about not telling Theo. Justin asks for a coffee before seeing him. Theo comes in and confronts Justin about speaking to the tutor. Justin says it was pointed out to him that it was cheating. Theo says Justin insisted on doing the assignment and he’s done nothing wrong. Leah argues that handing in someone else’s work is wrong and Theo replies that he redid it: He got the distinction for his own work. Leah and Justin look awkward.

Justin asks Theo why he didn’t say he deleted his work and Theo says he didn’t want to hurt Justin’s feelings and knew it was wrong to hand it in. Leah tries to argue that’s what she was saying but Theo retorts that she should have spoke to him, which she accepts. Justin tries to celebrate Theo’s good mark and offers to talk to the tutor but Theo says Justin’s done enough. He goes to the gym and tells Chloe that Justin called his tutor, meaning he’s being punished even though he did the work himself.

Mackenzie is chatting to Ziggy when Dean arrives home and asks why she didn’t accept Felicity’s offer of help, or indeed help from any of them. Mackenzie says she’s going to do the right thing but Dean says turning down offers of help isn’t the right thing. Mackenzie goes to Salt where Felicity makes sarcastic comments about not being able to do the rosters or orders. Mackenzie apologies for shutting her down and asks that they be friends and discuss her idea. Felicity asks if Mackenzie’s admitting she doesn’t have ideas of her own. Mackenzie says the judge gave her a second chance and hopes Felicity will too.

Theo is helping Tane out with clearing up at the gym and Tane says he’ll have to be a member if he wants to stay. Chloe tells him to go home, since he’s just there to avoid Leah and Justin. Up in Salt, Felicity explains to Mackenzie that all they need is one really big investor. She wonders if Mackenzie knows anyone with money. Mackenzie muses she does have an ex with a fair amount of money that she ended on good terms with. She agrees to set up a meeting with him and others in the city and invites Felicity to come along. Felicity grabs some drinks and proposes a toast to trouble, then corrects it to wise women in business. Tane comes along and is filled in.

Ziggy is bemused that Dean is making meatballs for Mackenzie’s first meal after court and assures him she’ll be okay. Mackenzie arrives home with beer and pizza and explains about the trip to the city with Felicity. Dean is happy to accept her food offering over his and they drink a toast to family. At the Diner, Justin ends a frustrating phone call and tells Leah that the Head of Assessment doesn’t know who to believe so it’ll come under plagiarism. He curses himself for taking over. He heads home, where Theo is playing guitar, and admits he spoke to his tutor. He says Theo will be failed if he can’t prove it’s not plagiarism and could be thrown off the course.

Tane finds Chloe going through the files at the gym. Chloe finds the contract for the gym sale and is surprised by how much it was and that there was no business loan. She asks Tane how Mia and Ari were able to afford it. Tane says he doesn’t know and beats a hasty retreat.
