Extended Summary

John runs into Bella near the beach and asks if Nikau’s going to hand in his application on time. He considers going to the house to see him but Bella cuts in, saying she’s left it on his desk. John starts talking about the amount of work he’s done but Bella hurries off to see Chloe at the Diner. Chloe thinks she’s there to tell her to make things up with Nik but Bella explains that Tane’s been hurt bad and she needs to come home.

Logan has got Felicity bagging Tane, telling her to do six a minute. Mackenzie wants to call an ambulance despite Dean’s protests but Logan says there’s no time: Tane needs blood now. Logan’s O negative, so he’s going to use his own blood. Nikau agrees. Mackenzie tries to argue but Felicity snaps at her to get out. Mackenzie and Dean go to the Diner flat. Mackenzie is blaming herself for continuing with the poker nights and worries what’s going to happen to Tane. Dean is confident Logan will work a miracle. Mackenzie says there’s only one thing she can do. She calls PK, claiming she’s ready to do things his way.

Logan has taken his blood and gets Nikau to work the drip. Felicity wonders when it’s going to work. Logan goes to get a blanket but nearly falls over. Nikau hands him the drip and says he’ll get him something to eat. Felicity sobs that Tane doesn’t deserve this and she can’t lose him. Bella and Chloe arrive and Chloe asks Nikau if it’s okay to see Tane. Nikau says it is but to prepare herself. Bella and Chloe go to Tane’s room.

Dean and Mackenzie are waiting at Salt. Dean isn’t convinced this is a good idea. PK and Nathan arrive and Mackenzie invites them to sit down. PK starts to give instructions but Mackenzie cuts in, saying she’s running things now: She knows the $50,000 debt is a lie and says one of her friends could die, bringing up the robbery. PK is confused and Nathan says no-one was meant to get hurt, it was just to scare them. PK calls him an idiot and says he’s not responsible but Dean and Mackenzie tell him to stay. Downstairs, John tries to get Alf to look over his notes before the council meeting but Alf thinks they’re prepared enough and just has what he’s going to say in his head.

Dean notes PK and Nathan are looking at breaking and entering, attempted murder and assault. PK insists it’s nothing to do with him and he and Nathan argue Mackenzie would face charges too. Dean suggests the police might go easy on Mackenzie if she gives them PK and tells him to give her back the $50,000. PK says he owns a waterfront mansion. Dean suggests he and his mates could cause trouble for PK, while PK claims his mates are more dangerous and it isn’t over. Nathan follows PK outside, with PK blasting him for making things worse. Nathan asks for money to pay the men he hired but PK refuses and walks away. Dean watches from the balcony and Nathan sees him watching.

Felicity asks if the transfusion’s working and Logan admits he doesn’t know. In the living area, Nikau says he understands why they didn’t call the police but Chloe thinks saving Tane was more important. Logan joins them and admits he expected Tane to be recovering by now but there’s another bag of blood to go. Bella asks if they can take him to hospital and Logan says it’s not safe to move him. Bella takes Logan to the bathroom to clean up while Chloe comforts Nikau. Outside the surf club, Dean assures Mackenzie that PK got the message. Mackenzie doesn’t care if she gets the money back, she just wants rid of him. Dean gets a text from Ziggy and encourages Mackenzie to check on Tane but she says Felicity and Logan don’t want her there. After Dean’s gone, Nathan approaches Mackenzie and asks for the money to pay off the thugs, worrying what they’ll do to him. Mackenzie drives off.

Nikau looks on as Felicity urges Tane to keep fighting. Nikau insists he can’t lose him like Ari. Tane suddenly stirs and they call Logan through. Tane is pleased to see Felicity and tells Nikau he said he wouldn’t leave him. They help him sit up and Logan notes he’s turned a corner but not out of the woods. Logan’s going to go to the hospital for supplies and jokes about sending them his bill. Felicity cuddles up to Tane, Nikau and Chloe are relieved while Bella is preparing food. John turns up and angles unsuccessfully for an invite before telling Nikau the council have agreed to making him a paid lifeguard. Nikau thanks him but in a rather muted fashion. John moans it was three days’ work as they show him out. Bella congratulates Nikau.

Logan goes back to the flat and notes he thought Mackenzie would be at work. He says Tane’s stable before making clear it clear he’s unhappy about the position he was put in. He says he’s going to go back there and tells Mackenzie not to come with him: Not because of Felicity but because he needs space from her. Back at the Parata house, Nikau and Chloe find Felicity asleep next to Tane. They comment on how she wouldn’t leave his side. Tane asks if the two of them have sorted out whatever it was and Nikau says they have.

John is bending Dean’s ear at the surf club about the lack of thanks from Nikau. Dean gets a text from Mackenzie about Tane being on the mend and says he has to call Ziggy, asking John if he actually wanted something. John hands him a letter addressed to the board shop owner and leaves him to it. The envelope contains a photo of Jai with “Like I said, this isn’t over!” written on the back…
