Extended Summary

At the surf club, Dean is on the phone to Ziggy, saying he’s called Amber but she hasn’t answered. PK comes in and Dean demands to know where he got the photo from. PK says that Jai’s trusting and that Dean should have raised him better. Dean lunges at PK and John restrains him. PK leaves and Dean gets a call from Amber. He follows PK to his car while telling Amber to keep Jai close. PK challenges him to take a swing but John calls out to him. Dean tells PK if he goes near Jai again he’ll tear him apart. PK drives off. John asks Dean what it was about but Dean just walks away.

At the garage, Theo volunteers to go to the Diner for coffees, which Justin suspects is because he’s hoping to run into a certain someone. Ziggy is texting Dean and tells Justin that he rang her worried about Jai but didn’t say why. Justin tells her to go and look for him. At the Diner, Marilyn is chatting to Roo about the forthcoming operation. Roo insists she’s not nervous and is focusing on the bait shop and caravan park. Marilyn calls over to Theo that his coffee order’s ready. Chloe comes in and she and Theo exchange awkward pleasantries. Marilyn gives one of Theo’s coffees to Roo (even though she ordered tea) and says he’ll have to wait a bit longer for the order. Theo invites Chloe to hang and she says she just came in for takeaway. Marilyn asks Chloe about cancelling her shift. Looking over at Theo, Chloe says everything’s all right now.

At the farm house, Ziggy asks Dean what happens to Nathan now and he says it’s not his problem. He shows her the note from PK and says Amber is freaking out. He blames himself for turning his back on Mackenzie. Ziggy wants him to call the police but he refuses and picks up the phone. Ziggy leaves and Dean calls Nugget. At the Diner, Theo and Chloe are sat at separate tables, shooting each other looks. Marilyn gives Theo his coffees. After he’s gone, she tells Chloe she took as long as possible and thinks they need to talk.

John arrives at the garage looking for Ziggy and tells Justin that Dean’s on the warpath. Justin says she already knows. Theo turns up and John bags one of the coffees. Justin asks if he saw Chloe. Theo says she gave him the brush off. Back at the Diner, Chloe tells Marilyn that Theo said he wanted to take things slow but she’s worried he’s lost interest. Theo tells John and Justin he thinks he’s been friend-zoned. Marilyn offers to give Chloe some ideas and John says he and Justin will give Theo some pointers.

Ziggy finds Dean pacing. She offers to help sort things but he says he’s already sorted it and she should go. Moments later, Nugget and two other River Boys arrive. Dean reminds Ziggy she saw Nugget at Colby’s wedding. Ziggy is aghast that Dean’s called in River Boys but they just start making plans. At the Diner, Alf and Roo arrive and Alf comments the bait order is late. Roo says she put a hold on the deliveries since they don’t have Ryder to run the bait shop. Alf says that wasn’t her call. Marilyn offers to help but Alf says they’ll go with Roo’s idea. Once Roo’s out of earshot, Alf and Marilyn comment on how nervous she is deep down.

John suggests Theo buy flowers but Theo thinks he’ll look like a stalker. Justin says he should just ask her out but Theo thinks it’s not that simple. John looks up the friend zone on his phone: It says you should work on yourself and accept friendship. He suggests Theo play hard to get. Theo isn’t keen on playing games and Justin agrees. John suggests he’s not brave enough. Meanwhile, Alf finds Roo sat outside the house. Marilyn arrives with afternoon tea but Alf is going to pick up Martha from her last dialysis. Roo is writing a to-do list. Marilyn offers to make her tea and, after initially snapping at her, Roo agrees.

Ziggy rejoins Dean, saying she heard the others leave. She thinks this is a bad idea, even if he is worried about Jai and Mackenzie, and wants him to call Nugget and say he’s changed his mind. Dean says he’s not asking for her permission. He heads to near the beach, where Nugget and the others pull up in a car. They reveal PK bound and gagged in the boot. Dean takes the rag out of PK’s mouth and PK says he’ll regret this. Dean retorts that he’s pretty sure he won’t.

Justin advises Theo against trying to make Chloe jealous and points out to John that he has a girlfriend. John says he had one recently and Justin asks how that worked out. Chloe turns up with muffins for Theo and John is ushered away. Chloe suggests she and Theo meet up for a friendly, casual drink and says she’ll text him the details. Theo tells Justin he’s in the friend zone. At the farm house, Ziggy finds Dean washing cut and bruised knuckles. She asks what he did to PK and he tells her to let it go. She gives him some frozen peas for the hand.

Marilyn brings Roo the tea. Roo admits she’s nervous and also worried about Martha. Marilyn says it’s hard when you can’t control the outcome and Roo asks if she’s calling her a control freak. She admits she can’t relax until they can move on. That evening, Chloe is at Salt and checks how she looks on her camera phone. Theo comes in, followed by a girl, Becky, who identifies Chloe as the girl he likes and asks if he’s sure he wants to make her jealous. Theo says he’s desperate and they go over to the table. Chloe is thrown that Theo brought someone. Theo goes to get cocktails and Becky awkwardly checks that Chloe doesn’t mind her crashing.

At the Diner, Justin has told John and Marilyn about Chloe inviting Theo out but says he’s still not sure what she wants from him. John says Theo just needs to follow his advice and Justin hopes they sort out any confusion. Back at Salt, Theo and Becky explain they know each other from TAFE: They both failed their first assignment and he gave her a lift to class once. Chloe offers to get more drinks and Becky says it’s her round. Chloe decides to go, saying she hopes Theo and Becky have a nice night. Becky wryly notes that went well.
