Extended Summary

Tane is finishing off a class on the beach, which includes Mia repeatedly hitting a punching bag he’s holding. He asks if she’s okay and she replies that he knows the answer. Tane wonders if they could use the crowdfunding money to buy another pad. Mia admits there’s not much left and considers sending Dean and Ziggy a thank you card. They comment on the fact Nikau and Chloe didn’t come home last night and are spending all their time with Dean and Bella. Felicity approaches and Tane moves out of earshot to talk to her. She asks about Mia and Tane notes she’s stopped sleepwalking. Felicity gets a call from Mackenzie and explains she’s meant to go in early. She heads to Salt, where Mackenzie wonders where she’s been. Mackenzie wants to know how much money Felicity’s poker idea would make and how it would work.

Cash and Jasmine are hastily getting dressed. Jasmine isn’t happy that Rose and Xander are still around but Cash convinces her to talk to them. They go through to the living area where the others are waiting. Jasmine is cynical about the idea of their being happy siblings. Xander thinks they should leave but Rose suggests they could help her through things. Jasmine calls it a fairy tale, saying they’re not family. Xander ushers Rose out. At the surf club, Mia tells Tane that Chloe isn’t answering her calls. Tane says she’ll come home when she runs out of clothes or they stop feeding her. Mia thinks the four of them should have a family meal tonight. Tane isn’t sure but Mia convinces him to ask Nikau and get him to bring Chloe along. Tane leaves Nikau a voicemail.

Xander and Rose are walking on the beach. Xander doesn’t know what Rose was expecting, since Jasmine wasn’t going to change her mind overnight, and wonders if Rose’s chat with Cash had something to do with it. He asks what her plan is. Back at the house, Cash tries to talk with Jasmine about things, pointing out that Rose and Xander’s lives have been turned upside down as well. He lets slip that he told Rose about their father abandoning Jasmine. Jasmine says it wasn’t his story to tell.

Mackenzie is uncertain as Felicity explains the details to her. Felicity says it could bring in $10,000. Ryder joins them, saying he’s got an idea to use different suppliers. Felicity says Mackenzie was just disciplining her for not treating the glassware properly. Ryder leaves them to it. Felicity tells Mackenzie that winners tip big and losers drink big: They can charge a buy-in and a lot for drinks if it’s top drawer. Mackenzie asks when she needs to know and Felicity asks when she needs the money. Meanwhile, Mia joins Tane clearing up after a class on the beach. Tane says Nikau’s agreed to talk to Chloe but not to get her hopes up. Mia asks Tane if he can cover her classes that afternoon since she needs to get things ready.

Tane meets up with Felicity at the surf club but then Mackenzie rushes up, wanting to talk to Felicity further. Felicity calls it secret women’s business. Mackenzie isn’t keen on getting involved in gambling but, since it’s only temporary, they’ll do it. Felicity says she’ll arrange it for tonight. At the Diner, Irene serves Mia a large cake and she explains about having Chloe home for dinner. Nearby, Rose reminds Xander that he said family was important to their father. She calls Cash over but he doesn’t think things are going to turn out the way they hoped and she’ll have to get answers from Jasmine. Xander wonders if their father put Jasmine in the will so they’d find her. Rose agrees he’d want them to fix his mistake.

Felicity is making phone calls at Salt while Ryder looks on confused. Mackenzie tells him they’re closing tonight. Ryder reminds her what she said about consistency and Mackenzie says it was his idea. Felicity excitedly says they’re on and encourages Mackenzie to tell Ryder. Ryder says Mackenzie has always been able to trust him…except when he showed Dean the accounts. Mackenzie and Felicity tell him he can’t tell anyone. Back at the beach house, Jasmine arrives home. Cash tells her that Xander and Rose are leaving town, saying they’re the only family she’s got left. Jasmine retorts that she has Irene and thought she had him. Cash says she does, but encourages her not to miss this opportunity.

Felicity is still making phone calls as she runs into Tane outside the surf club. Tane invites her to the family dinner tonight but Felicity tells him she’s working and can’t get out of it. Tane heads home where Mia tells him she’s making a lamb roast. She hasn’t heard that the youngsters are coming but she thinks they’d have said if they weren’t. Tane says that Felicity can’t make it. Mia encourages him to go and sort things with her, saying they can cope without him.

Cash and Jasmine meet with Xander and Rose near the beach. Rose says she doesn’t know why their dad put Jasmine in the will or never mentioned her but thinks he was hoping they could meet up after he died. She says she and Xander want to get to know her. Jasmine says she doesn’t know how. Rose encourages her to try and she agrees. Meanwhile, the lamb roast and cake are sat untouched on the side while Mia is sat alone at the table. She checks her phone, then gives up and starts clearing the vegetables away.

Tane meets up with Felicity but she says she has to get back to work. Tane suspects she’s hiding something. Felicity says she promised Mackenzie but eventually agrees to show him, saying they have to do something first. At Salt, everything has been decked out with a casino vibe. Mackenzie and Ryder are dressed in their finest with Ryder enthusiastic about the idea. Felicity turns up with Tane, both dressed up, which Mackenzie isn’t too happy about. Felicity takes on the role of host, telling the assembled crowd that the games will start soon, the bar is open and to get ready for a fun night.
