Extended Summary

Cash and Jasmine are relaxing in Salt, commenting on the fancy dinner. They are interrupted by a call from Irene, who is back at the beach house. (Xander is now sat on the couch.) Irene doesn’t want to talk about it over the phone but says to come home now. Meanwhile, Leah and Justin are getting ready for bed. Leah is furious about Dimitri’s attitude towards Theo. Justin asks about his wife, Cassandra. Leah says she kept out of their way. She gets into bed and they cuddle up.

Irene and Xander make awkward small talk before Cash and Jasmine arrive. Irene introduces everyone to each other, explaining who Xander says he is. Xander says he’s her half-brother, same father, and asks if Jasmine knew about his accident. Jasmine insists she’s an only child and says she hasn’t spoken to her father since kindergarten. Xander says they only found out about her at his will reading. Jasmine tells him to go, retreating into her room with Cash following. Jasmine thinks Xander is either mistaken, lying or crazy. Irene appears and says Xander left his number. Jasmine insists she won’t need it but Irene leaves it behind. Next morning, Jasmine and Cash are down on the beach, with Jasmine preparing for a run. Cash wonders if there’s a chance Xander is telling the truth. Jasmine insists her father abandoned her because he knew he’d be a bad dad so wouldn’t have had any more children.

A young woman, Rose, is swimming in the pool, doing repeated laps. Cash appears as she’s getting out and asks how the water is. Rose says she’s never done laps in an ocean pool before. Cash dives in, while Rose gets a message on her phone and leaves. Meanwhile, Logan and Marilyn are walking near the beach. Marilyn thanks Logan for looking after her and Logan says it’ll take 72 hours for the new medication to kick in. Marilyn asks him not to tell anyone she stopped taking it. They run into Roo. Marilyn tells her that they’ve adjusted her medication and everything should be all right now.

Xander is eating at Salt. Rose comes up behind him and kisses him on the cheek. Xander says he got back to the motel late and went for a walk. He says Jasmine kicked him out after 30 seconds, before he could tell her about Rose or the money, and hadn’t seen their dad since she was a kid. Rose thinks they should let it lie and leaave it to the solicitor but Xander wants to know why their dad lied to them. They head downstairs and immediately run into Jasmine. Xander introduces her and Rose to each other. Rose comments that one half-sibling was a shock enough, babbling that technically they aren’t related but she and Xander share a mum and Xander and Jasmine share a dad. They try to talk to Jasmine about her inheritance but she insists she’s not interested.

Jasmine arrives home and finds Cash there. She tells him about running into Xander and Rose. Cash asks why they’d be lying and how it could be a scam. Jasmine suggests they’re going to ask for her bank details for the inheritance and then take her savings. She asks Cash to run a background check on them. Cash protests he can’t, saying he only asked a mate questions about her, but Jasmine begs him. Later, Jasmine is chopping when Rose turns up. Rose says Jasmine’s in denial but gives her their solicitor’s details, saying to contact him about the inheritance. Jasmine says even if it’s true then she doesn’t want his money: He obviously didn’t care about her if Xander and Rose didn’t know about her. Rose says he’s the only father she ever knew and she wants to respect his last wishes.

At the Diner, Leah has a warm reunion with Irene, Roo and Justin. Leah apologises about what happened to Ryder and asks about Martha. Roo says she’s more worried about Marilyn. Marilyn comes in at that point and accuses them of judging her. Roo protests that she was right. Marilyn says only half right: It was self-inflicted, since she stopped taking her medication. She says she didn’t want to take it for the rest of her life. Later, Irene finds Marilyn hiding in the back room and convinces her to come out and join her, Leah and Roo. They all convince her they’re still her friends, saying the medication just makes her unique.

Rose runs into Cash near the surf club and, seeing he’s a police officer, notes she only seems to meet men in uniform. She invites him for a swim and learns that he’s taken. Cash goes to join Jasmine in Salt and tells her that the background check confirmed Xander and Rose are who they say they are and she is in their father’s will. Jasmine admits she knew it when she spoke to Rose. Cash encourages her to talk to them, reminding her she said she had questions about her father and this could be a way to get answers.

Later, Jasmine meets with Xander at her house. She notes he looks like their father and even has his name. She asks what he was like as a father. Xander says he came to all their football games and helped with homeworks. He asks if he was like that with Jasmine and she just says she was little. He says his mother was pregnant with Rose when they met and they were still together when he died. He notes Rose had left home for work and him for uni but it was still home. Jasmine is slightly bitter that they had a happy life together. Xander goes to meet up with Rose near the pool. Rose is starting to think they should persevere with Jasmine but Xander is starting to think it was a mistake to come. He says that going would mean they’re giving up on her but staying would make her life hell.
