Extended Summary

Tane is heading towards his house, on the phone to Felicity who is at the surf club, having gone there looking for him. He arranges to meet her in half an hour but then quickly ends the call on hearing the raised voices coming from his place. Mia is trying to stop Ari going for Matthew again and Tane ends up stepping in and leading him round the back. Despite Mia’s protests, Chloe leaves with Matthew. Round the back, Tane chastises Ari for hitting Matthew, saying he could be charged and can’t protect Chloe from prison.

Down on the beach, Jasmine tells Cash that she thought her written statement would be enough but the tribunal gave her a grilling about what Logan did. Cash sees Felicity up ahead and tries to talk to her but she says she’s meeting Tane. At the Diner, Logan comes in and briefly chats to Irene. He talks to Alf, who notes they’re hoping to move Martha closer to home. Marilyn comes over and says that it’s a shame Logan didn’t help her as much and mentions the tribunal, which is news to Alf. Logan mentions taking leave and Marilyn hope it’s permanent. Irene serves Logan and he leaves. Alf questions Marilyn, saying Logan saved Tane and Martha, but Marilyn maintains he was to blame for her being paralysed. After Marilyn’s gone, Alf admits to Irene he’s ready to listen to her.

Mia joins Ari and Tane out the back and asks to speak to Ari in private. She berates him for not listening to her when she told him to stay away from Matthew, since he’s made things worse. Outside the Diner, Chloe gives Matthew some ice. Matthew comments on Ari raising her. Chloe says it was on and off. Matthew wonders if he abandoned her but Chloe is vague, just saying he wasn’t always around. When Chloe’s gone, Matthew rings someone asking them to run a check on Ari.

Cash and Jasmine are walking on the pier. Cash explains the anniversary of his father’s death is coming up. Every year, he goes home and meets with his foster parents and his dad’s friends for a memorial, but Felicity has never gone with him: She hasn’t been to his grave since the funeral. Down on the beach, Felicity meets up with Tane, who explains he had family business to take care of. He invites her for a feed at Salt but she wants to do something fun.

Alf arrives home and tells Marilyn he spoke to Irene, mentioning she took alcohol into her house. Marilyn says she was desperate for sleep. She says Logan’s turned everyone at the hospital against her and also thinks Alf has been manipulated by Irene and the others. Meanwhile, Ari has fixed a chair in the back garden. Mia is less than impressed. Chloe arrives back and says Mia can stop texting her, wondering why neither of them will let her spend time with her dad. Ari says he’s sorry she saw him hit Matthew but Chloe notes he isn’t sorry he actually did it. Mia gets a text from Matthew saying they need to meet. She goes to see him at Salt where he tells her he’s thought about what she said about how Chloe was conceived but it’s not how he remembers it. He suggests they got on for Chloe’s sake but Mia refuses. Matthew says he knows Ari was in prison: If she doesn’t stop making trouble, he’ll press charges and get him sent back there.

Tane and Felicity are on their own at his place. She gets a text from Cash but ignores it, explaining he wants her to do something she doesn’t want to do. Tane suggests that instead of ignoring him she should meet up with him and say no. Meanwhile, Mia watches from the distance as Chloe gets into Matthew’s car with him. Ari comes along and wonders what’s going on. Mia tells him about Matthew’s blackmail, saying she’s spent years keeping him out of their lives and Ari’s wrecked it, since the alternative is losing him.

Alf, Irene and Logan have met at the Diner. Alf acknowledges Marilyn’s had a personality transplant. Logan says Doctor Singh organised a psych consult but Marilyn won’t accept the diagnosis or the treatment. Irene and Logan think it’s significant that Alf’s the only one Marilyn’s opened up to. Alf goes home where Marilyn apologises to him. Logan follows him in but Marilyn refuses to talk to him so he leaves. Marilyn isn’t happy that Alf ignored her wishes, saying he brought the person that caused her pain to the place she felt safe.

Tane brings Felicity to meet Cash and Jasmine outside the surf club. Jasmine suggests she and Tane get a drink but Felicity says she won’t be staying long. She tells Cash she won’t be going with him. Both say the other need to accept the truth of what happened. At Salt, Tane quizzes Felicity who tells him about Cash wanting her to go to the grave. She explains she knows their father would never leave them but Cash thinks that’s what happened. She seems resigned to going through the same thing every year.
