Extended Summary

Down on the beach, Mackenzie is coming out of the sea while Logan chats on the phone to a toxicologist about Marilyn’s results. Mackenzie invites him to have a swim with her but he has to get to the hospital so suggests a coffe instead. Meanwhile, John is sat by Marilyn’s bedside, saying everyone at the Diner misses her. Alf comes in. John says there’s no change, but at least she’s not getting any worse. He asks about Martha and Alf says she’s having a second round of dialysis. John thinks Alf should be with her but Alf snaps at him to go, saying he’s there now.

At the Parata house, Ari and Mia are considering going to the gym to sort things out. Ari doesn’t want to leave Tane on his own so Tane volunteers to go with them. Ari finds the rose and note in the bin and is annoyed that Tane kept it secret. He wants to go to the police but Tane doesn’t want to do another interview with them. Ari and Mia say she could come back when Chloe or Mia are there on their own. Nikau comes in as Tane is pointing out they don’t know that it’s Felicity. Nikau complains he’s the only one doing anything. The others leave as Nikau starts typing. At the Diner, Logan and Mackenzie fill Irene in on his job. Irene says it makes him a local now. Logan leaves as Bella reads Nikau’s latest post, about the flowers and threats, in frustration. Mackenzie calls it Felicity’s calling card but Irene says Jasmine thinks she’s innocent. Bella says Nikau isn’t helping either way. Mackenzie takes her for a talk.

John greets Ari, Mia and Tane as they arrive at the surf club, saying it’ll be good to have the gym open again. Nikau follows them in and John gives him an envelope from the girl he rescued, saying he was told to give it to him personally. He prompts Nikau to open it and Nikau sees it’s a thank you card, agreeing with John that it’s good to help someone. Ari and Mia remove the crime scene tape and head into the gym. They go to clear up, While they’re out the back, Tane comes in and starts having flashbacks to being drugged, looking ill and dizzy. Ari and Mia ask if he’s okay and he says he needs some air.

Nikau finds Tane outside. He offers to help him back in but Tane says he doesn’t want to go in there. He notes he could still smell it. Nikau says it’ll all be over soon when they find Felicity and make her pay. Tane replies that they don’t know it’s her and to leave it up to the police. Nikau insists he’s going to get justice for him. Down on the beach, Mackenzie points out that Nikau is trying to protect his family. Bella says it’s like he isn’t interested in their relationship anymore. Mackenzie says she knows what she has to do.

Nikau and Tane arrive back at the house, with Nikau on the phone to Ari. Tane suggests they both need to chill: He’s been looking at the posts and it’s vigilante stuff when they don’t even know it’s her. He says the police need to bring her in and question her. Nikau says that’s what he wants but Tane says some of his followers want her dead. He tells him to let it go. Bella has arrived during the conversation and tells Nikau they need to talk. They walk in a park area, with Bella wondering what would happen if something awful happened to Felicity because of him. Nikau says he can’t control what people post. Bella says it’s doing damage to them too and Tane doesn’t even want it. She asks what’s more important: Her or his followers.

At the hospital, Alf asks Logan if there’s been any development. Logan says he’s consulting with doctors and they’re doing their best to help Marilyn. Mackenzie arrives with lunch. Logan notes that Marilyn’s condition isn’t viral, bacterial or an infection. There must be a connection to the poisoning but he doesn’t know what it is. Mackenzie asks what he’d do if it wasn’t a mystery. Shortly after, with Alf and Mackenzie looking on, Logan reduces Marilyn’s sedation, saying they need to see if she can breathe on her own and can put her back on the machine if she doesn’t. Marilyn immediately comes round and Alf welcomes her back.

Logan runs tests on Marilyn but she still has no feeling in her legs. He assures her it’s still early days. She asks Alf about Martha. Alf explains she’s awake and out of ICU, then tells her about the dialysis. Marilyn convinces him to go and be with her. Outside the Diner, Ari and Mia are handing out flyers about the gym re-opening. Mia worries that there hasn’t been much response to the e-mails she sent out. John runs past with a balloon and Ari asks about Mia. John explains she’s awake: He and Irene are on their way there now.

Bella and Nikau arrive back at the Parata house. Bella almost leaves but Nikau tells her she was right: He’s going to make a post telling everyone to stop and then delete his account, because he doesn’t want to lose her again. Tane emerges and Nikau tells him his decision. Tane is pleased. Nikau still thinks Felicity’s guilty and Tane still thinks she isn’t but they agree to disagree. At the surf club, Alf is on the phone to Roo, who gives him news about Martha. He says he’ll be right there.

At the hospital, Irene and John tell Marilyn that everyone was worried about her. Marilyn rather sharply asks why John’s there, saying they’re not friends and his girlfriend sorted out a divorce for them. She shouts at him to leave and Irene and Logan convince him to go. Later, Irene joins John in the corridor; both are bemused by Marilyn’s reaction. Logan joins them and says John told him he and Marilyn were close. Irene assures him they are and says that wasn’t Marilyn.
