Extended Summary

Dean and Ziggy are closing up the board shop, discussing the gym reopening. Ziggy wants to get pizza. Dean ponders getting burgers instead and Ziggy starts kissing him to “persuade” him. Alf interrupts them and they discuss Martha, who Alf predicts he’ll spend two weeks with. Ziggy goes upstairs to get the pizza, since Dean can’t handle stairs. At the hospital, Logan is trying to test Marilyn’s eyesight but she keeps moving her head instead of her eyes. Irene pops in to say goodbye. Marilyn is annoyed to see John in the corridor, only being slightly mollified when Irene explains they came in the same car. Marilyn asks Logan why John was allowed in to see her when it’s supposed to be just close friends and family.

Ziggy is chatting to Mackenzie in Salt about the fact Dean is due to go into hospital tomorrow for a skin graft on his shoulder. Mackenzie asks how things are going between them. Ziggy says Mackenzie might regret asking that, indicating that, because of Dean’s injury, they haven’t been doing certain things since they got back together. She asks about Logan and Mackenzie indicates they’re doing quite well in that department. Ziggy joins Dean downstairs but seems more interested in watching him eat the pizza than having any herself.

Alf has stopped by the hospital to say goodbye to Marilyn, who says to give her love to Martha. Logan follows Alf out and asks how well John and Marilyn usually get on. Alf says John’s a pain but they’ve found a way forward. Logan heads to Salt where Mackenzie has just managed to close up. Logan is still thinking about Marilyn although Mackenzie says there’s a reason John’s her ex-husband. Logan has still got people looking at her results. Mackenzie says he could go back to the hospital and talk to his colleagues or go back to hers and not talk. He decides on the latter.

Leah thanks Justin for helping her close up the Diner. Justin notes it means they can get home and have the place to themselves quicker. Leah reminds him that Theo lives there, although he is meant to be spending time with Ryder and Chloe. They run into Irene and John, who didn’t realise how late it was. They explain about Marilyn’s behaviour. Next morning, Logan runs into Irene and John at the hospital and asks how Marilyn is. They say they were going to ask him: She’s not in her room.

Dean and Ziggy run into Marilyn near the beach and are surprised she’s out of hospital. She is vague about when she left but invites them to join her for a celebratory breakfast at Salt. They say they have rehab to do, and dub the encounter weird. Mackenzie is similarly shocked when Marilyn comes into Salt. Marilyn orders a Bloody Mary, saying she’s never had one. Mackenzie goes into the store room, ostensibly to get tomato juice, and calls Logan, telling him one of his patients has walked into the bar and is ordering cocktails.

Dean and Ziggy have gone to the gym, where Ziggy straps Dean’s ankles for him to do stretches. After a short time watching him, she decides to do a workout herself and starts punching a bag. Both of them keep looking at each other, seemingly getting hot and bothered for a different reason. Dean declares his session ended. Ziggy says she wants to carry on working off energy. Dean says he’ll wait, then seems to think better of it and decides to wait outside.

Mackenzie delivers Marilyn her drink. Marilyn is puzzled that she can only taste tomato juice. Mackenzie claims it can be overpowering. Logan, Irene and John arrive and Marilyn realises Mackenzie called them. She calls her a snitch and walks out. Logan follows her downstairs and tries to get her to return to hospital, saying her friends are worried about her behaviour. Marilyn refuses and threatens to start screaming if he doesn’t let her go.

Logan fills Irene, John and Mackenzie in on the threat. He says that since Marilyn’s physically fine and not a danger, he can’t force her to go back to hospital. He’ll continue looking into it but suggests they keep an eye on her. Logan finds Dean outside and asks how he’s going about his surgery. Dean beats around the bush asking him about him and Ziggy. Logan realises he’s asking about sex. He says there’s no set rule but suggests if Dean could climb a set of stairs he’d be good to go.

At the Diner, Irene and John fill Leah and Justin in on the latest with Marilyn, who chooses that moment to come in. John goes over to her and apologises for whatever he’s done. Marilyn asks why he’s apologising if he doesn’t know and he asks what he does to upset her. Marilyn says breathing and he beats a hasty retreat. Marilyn asks the others if they’re going to stand around staring or get her a coffee. Later, Irene wonders why Marilyn’s taking so long looking at the menu. Marilyn comes to the counter and asks when she’s going to get service. Leah sends Irene over and Marilyn orders a burger. Irene assumes she means a veggie burger but Marilyn says she’d have said if she did: Despite Irene protesting she’s a vegetarian, she insists she wants a beefburger made with cow.

Dean looks up at the steps to Salt with some trepidation. Ziggy comes over and offers to get him food. He says it’s not about that. It obviously causes him great pain to lift his foot onto the first step but he insists he’s going to keep going.
