Extended Summary

Ryder and Chloe pull up outside the Diner, having just completed another set of deliveries that took the whole morning. Ryder is dreaming of getting sleep but at that moment Chloe gets a text: They have a massive order for a party with fifty guests. Ryder protests that it’d mean another all-nighter. Chloe says it could put them on the map. At the hospital, Christian cautiously approaches Tori, apologising that she was thrown by his comments. Tori says there’s nothing more to discuss and informs the team they have a male patient coming in. Logan arrives with the patient, who was injured at a building site, and Tori orders imaging. Logan says they should forget that and prep theatre for a ruptured spleen but Tori overrules him.

Roo protests that Alastair seemed keen on the auction. Martha says there’s no question that the auction’s off and laments that all the hard work has gone to waste. Alf suggests Bella might know somewhere. Martha says she needs some fresh air and heads out. Both Roo and Alf are determined the auction will happen. At the Diner, Marilyn chats to Justin about how happy Martha seems. Leah is trying to get a stock take done. Justin drops hints that he’s finished for the day and they have the house to themselves but Leah is more concerned that they’d used five times as many chilli flakes as usual. Justin realises she’s not coming and tells Marilyn to let her know he said goodbye.

Ryder and Chloe have retired to the pier to talk things over. Ryder says they can’t work back-to-back nights, although Chloe seems to be able not to sleep. Chloe says that they could get a bad name if they turn it down. Ryder realises she’s already accepted. Chloe tells him to get some sleep before tonight. Back at the Diner, Leah continues to find items that they’re using more of, including rice. Martha turns up and tells Leah and Marilyn about the auction being off: Alastair is going to New York to work with Emmett. She’s been trying to think of an alternative but failed.

Tori tells Logan that the patient did have a ruptured spleen but also a tear in the liver which they’d have missed without a scan. Logan wonders why she’s stressed, saying she’s not working in a war zone. Christian appears and asks to talk to Tori. Instead, Tori announces, ostensibly to Logan but mostly to Christian, that her job is important to her and it’s arrogant to suggest otherwise. Logan wonders what that was about. Later, Christian explains to Logan that he suggested to Tori that they move overseas. He explains Summer Bay is the first place Tori and Justin have been settled, before being called back into the hospital.

Alf gets a call from Marilyn saying Martha’s at the Diner. Ryder turns up and Roo explains the situation to him while Alf goes to check on storage. Despite being dead on his feet, Ryder suggests having the auction online and promises to set it up for her. Roo asks him to do it now. Later, the still semi-conscious Ryder has the template set up, saying they just need to add photos and info. Alf comes back in and says he’s cleared out a shed for the paintings. Ryder is just about to go and lie down when he gets a call from Chloe.

At the Parata house, Chloe explains to Ryder the problem: The fridge is full and there’s still plenty of meat and dairy left over. Ryder wonders if there’s anything online. Chloe says the only refrigeration they can afford is the morgue but Ryder finds a refrigerated truck for hire. Even though he’s still tired, he agrees to go and get the truck. Later, they have parked outside the Diner. Chloe says she’ll transfer the stuff into the Diner fridge and try and get Leah to close early. Ryder gets a call from Mackenzie, who needs him to cover at the Diner while she’s tied up with Dean.

Logan goes to see Tori and apologises for upsetting her, saying he was just offering a different perspective. He then tells her what Christian said about the overseas job. He notes that he was worried about leaving the army, that he might not cope with civilian life. Tori says he always knew he’d be able to do it and Logan agrees but says he didn’t know if he’d like it. He notes if things don’t work out she can always come back. Meanwhile, Martha comes home and says she’s going to have to return the artwork. Alf and Roo show her the site, which has had some rough photos added to it. Martha is delighted.

Chloe finds Leah outside the Diner and notes it’s slow, suggesting she go home. Marilyn also appears and says Chloe has offered to cover so she can go home and check on Martha. Leah insists on staying to help with the dinner rush. Later, Justin turns up and finds Leah still doing the stock take. Chloe points out to Justin that the Diner’s empty and she wanted to give Leah a night off. Justin drags Leah out, saying he’s taking her for dinner.

Christian runs into Logan at the hospital and Logan tells him he spoke to Tori. At that moment, Tori appears and summons Christian into the office to talk. She notes Logan didn’t hold back and also had a point. She looked through the applications Christian sent her and there’s a job in London that interests her. Christian says if she gets it he can find a job nearby. Tori asks him to look over her application before she sends it. Meanwhile, Logan is propping up the bar in Salt. He asks Ryder for another beer. Ryder has zoned out and Logan has to throw an olive at him to get his attention. He asks if Mackenzie’s coming in and Ryder says she should be there any moment. Logan says he wants to ask her a question.
