Leah solves the case of the missing spices. In the process of helping Roo, Bella finds herself healing. Will Mackenzie fall for Logan’s charms?

Extended Summary

Mackenzie is about to head out after a brief phone chat with Ryder. She explains to Bella about leaving him to handle Salt while she took Dean to an appointment. Bella is lamenting her life but acknowledges that Dean’s worse off. Mackenzie says she’ll be back late and offers to bring a pizza back. Roo appears as Mackenzie is leaving and says she wants to talk to Bella, who has heard from Emmett about the auction being called off. Roo explains about Ryder setting up the auction site and the photos she took not being up to much. Bella realises she wants her to do the photos. Meanwhile, Mackenzie turns up at Salt to relieve Ryder, who gets a text from Chloe asking him to come to the Diner. Logan gives him a warning about driving when he’s tired, saying it can be dangerous when you’ve gone 18 hours without sleep. He then explains to Mackenzie he was waiting for her. Mackenzie says she’s working and Logan argues that she’ll get a break some time.

Chloe greets Ryder at the Diner, telling him they have the place to themselves. Ryder reflects that once that meant something more fun than cooking, before they get down to work. Up in the flat, Bella tells Roo that she respects what they’re trying to do but explains that Nikau has her camera at the moment. Roo asks about her career and Bella admits she’s given up on it and quit TAFE. She says she can’t pick up a camera without being reminded of Nikau and tearfully admits she misses him.

Justin goes to the bar at Salt and asks Mackenzie about Dean. Mackenzie says he’s out of hospital but not exactly mobile. Justin realises he’s moved in with Ziggy. After Justin’s gone, Mackenzie notices Logan still sat at the end of the bar and asks him to at least order something. Logan convinces her to have one drink with him. Out on the balcony, Justin tries to talk to Leah about Dean and Ziggy, but Leah is preoccupied by the Diner: Ingredients being used up, the oven being left on and someone changing the radio station, which is always set to Irene’s favourite. She thinks someone’s breaking in after hours so they decide to check it out. At the Diner. Ryder and Chloe are struggling to keep up with the order. Leah and Justin arrive outside and decide to call the police. They slip in and see who’s there, with Leah demanding an explanation.

Mackenzie asks Logan how he ended up in Summer Bay. He says that he wanted a change of pace from the army, one where he wouldn’t be shot at. He asks about her and she says she took a gamble. At the Diner flat, Bella says that she wishes she didn’t still love Nikau. Roo reminds her that she started photography with her mother, so it’s something she was doing before Nikau came along. She isn’t keen to leave her while she’s upset but Bella says Mackenzie will be home soon and she’ll just crash.

Leah is annoyed at Ryder and Chloe using her spices and rice. Chloe points out they didn’t actually break in, they just never left. Justin says they’re lucky he managed to call off the police. Leah says they could still have the pair charged. Chloe says it was her idea and Ryder says he went along with it. Leah says she won’t take it further and Ryder says they’ll pay her back for everything they used, including water and power. Chloe says it felt good to have people enjoying their food. Leah decides to help them out with their order and Ryder puts Justin to work chopping. Meanwhile, Mackenzie arrives back at the flat with a pizza and Logan. (There is no sign of Bella.) She admits she enjoyed tonight. She seems about to say something but Logan says good night. He pauses in the doorway, turning round, and Mackenzie repeats his good night.

A large pile of boxes gathers in the Diner. Next morning, Ryder and Justin are preparing to deliver them. Chloe and Ryder both thank Leah and Justin. Marilyn arrives and Leah tells her she’ll fill her in later. She asks Chloe to hand over her Diner key. Chloe asks if she needs to hand over her apron as well and Leah says she’ll get back to her on that.

Bella approaches Ryder as he and Justin are loading up a truck. Ryder explains he and Chloe got the business up and running again. Bella asks him to get her camera back without Nikau or Chloe knowing, so she can help Roo and Martha. Ryder agrees after he’s done the delivery and Bella says to text her and she’ll meet him at his place. Justin refuses to let Ryder drive and asks for the address. Ryder gives him a note then settles down to sleep in the passenger seat. On the beach, Mackenzie runs into Logan and suspects he’s there because he knows she always goes for a surf at this time. He suggests they have breakfast together and Mackenzie agrees to coffee after her surf.

Bella is waiting at the caravan park and turns down Alf’s offer of a cup of tea while she waits. Ryder arrives with the bag of her stuff. He settles down for a sleep on the sofa, shushing Roo when she comes in and saying his bedroom’s too far away. Roo and Bella go to take the photographs. Ryder gets a text from Chloe summoning him to the Diner and tells Alf he’ll walk. He joins Chloe, Leah and Marilyn outside the Diner. Leah says she’s not sacking Chloe, so Ryder tries to leave, promising Marilyn she and the others will still be paid back. Leah says she and Irene have agreed to let the pair lease the Diner after-hours, in exchange for a percentage of the profits. However, she tells them no more all-nighters.

Roo and Bella are looking over the photos, which have now been added to the site. Bella checks the camera to see if she missed any and finds an old photo of Nikau that she thought she’d deleted. Roo notes he looks happy and Bella says they both were. Roo goes to tell Martha. Bella considers deleting the photo but doesn’t. Soon after, she sits on the pier. She goes to take a photograph of the water, then leaves a phone message for Nikau.

Mackenzie rejoins Logan who compliments her on the surfing, although she notes he must have missed her face planting. She kisses him, saying she’s been wanting to do that. They kiss passionately.
