Extended Summary

Tane is setting up for a class on the beach. Ari approaches Mia nearby and wonders when Tane got in last night. Mia doesn’t know, since she was asleep. Ari is worried about Tane but Mia says he’s been doing a good job at work. Ari decides to go and talk to Nikau. He finds him lying on the sofa texting and asks his plans. Nikau says he might walk to the fridge. Ari suggests he get a job. Nikau says he can still pay rent: His savings from the modelling will last if he stretches it. Ari suggests he get out of the house. Nikau promptly does just that.

Cash, Felicity and Jasmine are clearing up after the fight. Roo comes over and asks what happened. Felicity says two guys were fighting over her…or possibly the last beer. Roo takes Cash aside. He says they’ll pay for the damage. Roo agrees they will but also says there have been complaints about Felicity so keep her in line. Later, Cash tells Felicity he’s going to talk to Roo and she’s to stay and clear up. Felicity asks Jasmine about her and Cash turning up together, wondering if they were naked.

Mia and Tane are coming up from the beach. Mia invites Tane to eat with them but he says he has plans, noting he’s had better times and worse. Ari appears, saying he’s going for a workout to check in on them. Tane says he’s taking an early lunch break. At the Diner, Nikau greets Marilyn and says he’s waiting for Alf to open up the bait shop. Marilyn tells him that Alf’s away and Roo’s in charge. Bella turns up and Marilyn asks about Willow, also telling her about Irene being away. Nikau tells Bella he’s not staying but she leaves anyway.

Felicity brings Jasmine a beer and comments on her date with Cash, suggesting he was the perfect gentleman. Jasmine says he bailed on her during their date, adding there was a situation to for him to deal with. Felicity guesses they were talking about their parents. She says their father was murdered, Cash found him in the shed and the police never found out who did it. She adds that Cash hasn’t come to terms with it and is great but damaged. Cash comes along at that point and Felicity leaves. At the Diner, Roo tells Nikau that there’s no work at present but she’ll let him know if anything comes up. Nikau notices Bella’s poster putting her photography equipment up for sale and asks Marilyn about it.

Back at the Parata house, Ari comments to Mia that he’s got one family member that won’t come home and another that won’t leave it. Mia suggests she might have a distraction for him and produces a folder. Ari finds it’s adoption research. He is surprised but Mia explains that even though she doesn’t want to get pregnant, she still wants a child. Ari agrees to look into it. Meanwhile, Tane runs into Felicity on the beach. She quickly strips down to a bikini and invites him to join her for a swim to cool off. After a bit of hesitation, Tane strips down to his shorts and joins her.

Cash brings Jasmine some lunch he cooked in the van and picks up on the fact Felicity said something. With a bit of pushing, Jasmine says she told her about his dad. Cash guesses she said he was murdered and says it never happened. Meanwhile, Nikau turns up at the Diner flat and tells Bella not to sell her gear because of him. Bella says she needs money, since Dean’s in hospital and she doesn’t have a job. Nikau tells her not to throw away her dreams. Bella says she has a lot of regrets but this isn’t one of them.

Cash tells Jasmine that their dad did his best after their mum died, then the farm was hit by a drought. He says he was twelve and ran home from school after winning an award to find him: He didn’t leave a note, so Felicity insisted he was murdered and is still in denial. Jasmine kisses him. Down on the beach, Tane and Felicity mess about in the water together before finally making it back to shore. Felicity invites him to spend time with her, moving in for a kiss, but he says that he’s allergic to her brother’s uniform. Felicity says he doesn’t need to know but Tane still refuses so she leaves with a backward smile.

Jasmine arrives at the Diner and tells Marilyn and Roo that her day was great after starting out sad, although she refuses to give details. At a nearby table, Bella is giving details of her equipment to a boy who doesn’t seem very interested but gives her the money for it anyway. Jasmine questions Bella, who says she’s done with that part of her life. She ignores Jasmine’s protests that she’s talented. Outside, the buyer meets up with Nikau and hands the equipment over to him. Nikau gives him $100 for his trouble, ignoring his claim that they said 120.

That night, Cash is sitting by the fire at the caravan park. Felicity comes over and asks him about Jasmine. Cash says they need to talk. Felicity says to save the lecture because she’ll lay low. Cash asks how long she’s going to hold onto the lie about their father. Felicity continues to insist he was murdered. Cash says that their father did the best he could and starts to talk about the way he died but Felicity abruptly leaves. Meanwhile, Ari and Mia are preparing food. Tane appears and Ari tries to get him to stay for the meal but he says to save him some leftovers. He passes Nikau, who tells Ari and Mia about buying Bella’s equipment to give back to her. Ari seems concerned about the money while Mia doesn’t think it was his call, saying he can’t spend the rest of his life making up for one mistake. Nikau walks away.

Tane turns up at Salt and quickly bumps into Felicity. She asks him to buy her a drink. He looks hesitant and she asks if he’s on a date. Tane says no and she asks if he wants to be, adding that it’s just one drink. Tane hands her the menu.
