Extended Summary

Dean and Mackenzie run into each other on the beach. Mackenzie says she hasn’t left the house in days because she was trying to avoid a lecture. Dean says he’s only there to check out the beach prior to a surf lesson. At that point, Ari approaches. Mackenzie complains that he’s everywhere and quickly leaves despite Dean wondering if she’ll talk to him. Dean tells Ari that he hurt Mackenzie and Ari admits things didn’t work out with Mia. Dean suggests he and Ari meet up after his lesson. At the beach house, Jasmine and Lewis are in the bedroom, kissing and undressing, when they hear Irene and Willow return, chatting about John and Susie. Jasmine hurries out and asks them to go out. Willow realises she has a boy in her room and they agree to go for a long dinner. Jasmine goes back to Lewis and they resume kissing.

Tori and Christian are walking near the beach with Grace. Tori tells Christian not to doubt himself: Lewis is channelling his grief and Christian’s just in the firing line. Christian says sometimes a case leaves you wondering if you’ve done enough but Tori doesn’t think this is one of those times. They go into the Diner and order from Marilyn, who drops their change. Christian, looking worried, wonders if she’s been more clumsy since her fall. Marilyn doesn’t think so but she looks worried too now. Tori cuts the conversation short, ushering Christian to a table.

Dean is clearing up the flat as Ari explains that all of the gang are in custody apart from Paul. He isn’t sure if he and Tane are going to be charged over moving the stolen goods. Dean asks about Mia. Ari notes mothers don’t like their daughters being kidnapped and Chloe isn’t answering his calls. Dean wonders about Mackenzie. Ari thinks he should give her space. Dean encourages him not to. Later, Ari is at home when Mia turns up. Ari hopes she’s there to talk but Mia says Chloe sent her to get her things. Ari tries to argue it wouldn’t hurt to talk but Mia says it would.

Jasmine and Lewis are in bed together. Jasmine notes she hasn’t felt this happy and relaxed in a long time and Lewis agrees. He wonders if they could have done things differently and be married and travelling with a baby in each backpack. Jasmine says they could have crashed and burned in six months. Lewis agrees that this is the right time for them to get together. Back at the Diner, Marilyn asks Christian if she should be worried. Christian asks if she has any dizziness or blurred vision. Marilyn isn’t sure and Tori says she’d know if she had. Christian says to call him if she gets any symptoms before Tori ushers him away.

At Salt, Irene and Willow drink a toast to Jasmine being happy again. Willow wonders if they should stay out longer but Irene says she’s done. They briefly chat to Dean before leaving. Dean tells Mackenzie that Jai got a merit in art and they decide to get him his favourite pizza. He also mentions his chat with Ari and that he isn’t with Mia: Dean’s on Mackenzie’s side but still thinks she should tell Ari. Mackenzie asks him to let it go. Back at the Parata house, Mia emerges from Chloe’s room with her bags. Ari gives her Chloe’s headphones but Mia refuses to say whether or not they’ll stay at the caravan park and notes she regrets letting Ari back in. Ari gives her Chloe’s jacket and says to tell her she’s safe and the police are onto it.

Jasmine is saying goodbye to Lewis, who declines an offer to stay, as Irene and Willow arrive home and tease him. Jasmine tells them it was perfect. Willow wants details but Irene wants to go to bed. She checks with Jasmine that Lewis makes her feel safe and happy and says he has her vote, before telling the girls to keep it down. Back at Salt, Mackenzie brings Dean pizza and dessert for Jai. She says the reason Ari isn’t in the picture is there might not be a picture: She has an appointment at the clinic tomorrow to discuss her options. Dean offers to drive her and promises not to question her decisions.

Next morning, Jasmine and Willow are exiting the Diner with Jasmine noting her 20-year-old self would never have believed she’d reconnect with Lewis. Tori appears and asks if they’ve seen Christian. They confirm he’s in the Diner and Tori guesses he’s keeping an eye on Marilyn, going to find him. Lewis approaches and Willow calls him Jasmine’s future fiance, leaving them alone. Lewis says he dreamed a hot girl dragged him back to her place. Jasmine checks no-one’s looking before going to kiss him, saying they should keep it quiet at work. Lewis agrees. Jasmine stops him running into Christian at the Diner, wanting him to focus on her. Inside, Marilyn is telling Christian she felt dizzy when she got up. Both Irene and Tori think she’s fine but Christian wants to take her to the hospital and run tests. Tori steps in and takes Christian out onto the pier, saying he’s turned Marilyn into a hypochondriac. She says he did everything he could for Anna and needs to stop second guessing himself.

At the surf club, Dean asks Mackenzie if she’s sure. Mackenzie is annoyed, thinking he’s questioning her, but Dean says he just meant whether he’s got time for a surf. Mackenzie says she’ll meet him in an hour. After Dean’s gone, Ari appears from the gym and asks to speak to Mackenzie, saying he feels bad about hurting her. Mackenzie says she’s sorry to hear about Mia. Ari heads home and finds Mia there, angry that he tried to call Chloe again. Ari says she’s not got all the facts and he didn’t go looking for trouble. Mia says she thought the other night was a new beginning but then reality kicked in. She accuses him of destroying everything he touches.

Mackenzie goes to Dean’s flat and tells him about Ari talking to her. She still isn’t sure about having the baby but she felt guilty about keeping it from him: He was always honest with her so she needs to tell him. Meanwhile, Ari is out walking and leaving another phone message for Chloe saying he’s coming to the caravan park to see her. Suddenly, a car speeds at him, catching him a glancing blow, and drives off leaving him lying on the ground, still.
