Extended Summary

Ziggy is getting dressed while Dean is in bed. She notes what they’ve just done was more fun than studying and gets Dean to give her top marks. They hear Maggie coming home and Dean quickly decides to bail, saying Ben won’t be impressed that he spent his lunch hour sleeping with her and he doesn’t do parents. Maggie listens in as he climbs out the window. Ziggy finishes getting dressed and opens the door on her. Maggie says she thought she heard voices. Ziggy claims she was on the phone to Coco. At the Morgan house, Tori, Justin and Mason look at photos of Brody’s new place on their laptop. Raffy is keeping her distance but says she’s fine, it’s just been a long day. Brody comes in looking for empty boxes and is pointed towards the garage; Justin jokes that if he needs help they’ll send Mason. Tori wonders why Brody doesn’t seem as happy and Justin admits that he thinks he knows.

Maggie asks Ziggy where Dean is. Ziggy suggests he’s at work and, when Maggie asks how he got there, says he drove. She goes to do some study. Maggie rings Ben at the surf club and wonders if Dean’s there: He isn’t. Maggie says she thinks he was at the house and climbed out the window. At that moment, Dean comes in and Ben tells Maggie to leave it to him. He comments on Dean taking a long lunch; Dean just says stuff came up. Ben asks him to explain the “stuff” but he just says he’ll make it up to him.

Tori and Justin find Brody sorting through things at the cottage. He has found a few things that Ziggy left behind as well as the wedding album. He wonders what you’re meant to do with things like that when you split and decides to offer it to Ziggy. At the farm house, Maggie tells Ziggy, who is studying, that she’s going out. She finds Brody on the doorstep. He asks to see Ziggy who agrees. Maggie leaves. Brody tells Ziggy that he and Simone have bought a restaurant in Yarra Valley and are leaving tomorrow. He offers her the bag of stuff; she isn’t interested but he leaves it on a shelf anyway. He also offers her the album. Ziggy wonders if he expects her to cry over it. He says there are photos of her friends and family but she refuses it, slamming the door on him, then sinks to the floor crying.

Maggie joins Ben at the surf club and tells him about Brody’s visit. Alf tells them that he’s leaving town. Dean offers to close up so they can go home and check on Ziggy. He leaves Ziggy a phone message asking her to let him know she’s okay. Ben and Maggie head home and Ben finds the bag. Ziggy throws it in the bin without looking in it. They try to talk to her about how she’s feeling but she refuses and goes to her room.

Brody arrives home to find Tori and the others setting the table. Raffy has made pizza putanesca, the first thing Brody taught her when she moved in. She says he’ll have to teach her more when she visits him; Brody reminds her that Simone will be there but Raffy is fine with that. Justin jokes that with her there they don’t need Brody. Mason says he thought he’d be the first to move out and the others quip that he’d be back as soon as he runs out of clean clothes. Tori starts a speech about how once they couldn’t have dreams but now Brody is getting his, which has the others making fun of her. Brody just sits back, enjoying the banter. Meanwhile, Dean climbs into Ziggy’s room and asks why she didn’t call him back. Ziggy says she didn’t know what to say but is pleased he’s there to distract her, moving to kiss him. Dean says he wants to talk but Ziggy isn’t interested in serious, telling him if he’s not interested in a bit of fun he should go. He does.

Next morning, Maggie runs into Ben outside the surf club; neither of them have seen Ziggy since last night. Brody approaches and offer them the wedding album, repeating his explanation that it contains photos of them. Maggie takes it. Brody also thanks them for everything they’ve done for him and for giving him a second chance, saying he hopes him leaving will help Ziggy. Maggie thanks him in a polite but not entirely friendly manner. Inside, Maggie looks through the photos, noting how happy Brody and Ziggy look. Ben suggests a bonfire for it. Dean arrives and says Ziggy’s not talking to him, wondering if he should go see her. Ben and Maggie suggest she might want to be on her own today.

Brody places his keys on the counter at Salt. Simone comes in and notes that the staff seem to be coping all right. Brody recalls how he used to think the place couldn’t survive without him. He picks up a box and follows her out, pausing at the top of the stairs for a last look around. Downstairs, as they discuss brainstorming a menu for their new restaurant, Dean sarcastically calls out that he hopes they don’t have a car crash on the way out of town. Simone tells Brody to leave it but he isn’t willing to this time. He tells Dean that he’ll never be good enough for Ziggy and is just a meaningless fling.

Outside the Morgan house, Simone stays at a distance as Brody hugs his siblings in turn. Tori is rather teary, while he tells Justin that he won’t have him looking out for him anymore and asks Mason to look after the girls. Raffy accepts that it’s an exciting new chapter for him, even though she’s going to miss him. The five of them share a group hug, then Brody takes Simone’s hand and they drive off. Meanwhile, Ziggy is studying but keeps looking at the bin, eventually retrieving the bag. She looks through it and finds the photo strip of her and Brody tucked in a book. She cries.

Outside the surf club, Maggie attempts to phone Ziggy and notes she’s already left two voicemails. She thought she’d have spoken to Dean but Ben thinks things aren’t serious between them, since he’s climbing through windows, and is happy with that. Maggie agrees he’s not son-in-law material and they decide they’re happy with whatever he does to make her happy. Meanwhile, Dean goes to see Ziggy and tells her that he’s there for the bad times as well as the good times and things are serious between them. Ziggy says she doesn’t want to be sad about Brody leaving but can’t help it. They hug.
