Roo struggles to deal with the fact that Alf and Martha are back together. Will Mason be charged with drug trafficking? Dean supports Ziggy as she begins the car restoration project.
Extended Summary
Ziggy joins Dean outside the surf club, having bought snacks. Dean notes she looks happy and credits the car, although Ziggy cheerily describes it as a bomb that’s only worth 50 cents. She stops in front of the sign advertising Salt for sale but claims she doesn’t care and takes Dean off to look at the car. They arrive at the farm house where Ziggy has the engine dismantled and laid out on the kitchen table, saying she’s been working out what can be repaired and what needs replacing and adding that she needs to do it for peanuts. Dean says he knows people, assuring her it’s legal, and asks what she needs. Ziggy says a radiator, which would cost a couple of hundred. Dean heads out, passing Maggie, who is shocked at the mess.
Leah and Justin walk along the beach, with Justin noting they’re now out and proud. They kiss and are seen by Tori, who’s still a little freaked out at the idea of them dating and, to Justin’s horror, gets a promise from Leah of details on how it happened later. Raffy approaches and mentions studying at home, confirming Mason told her about the internship. Justin and Tori think it’s good something’s going right for him. At that moment, Mason is at the police station with McCarthy, having declined a lawyer. He says he wasn’t going to sell the drugs but McCarthy says anything over 300g is considered a trafficable amount and can get jail time. Mason calls it a misunderstanding but McCarthy points out he was seen by undercover cops going straight to where the marijuana was hidden. Mason says he will make the phone call after all.
Roo is bewildered at Alf and Martha’s news, since last she knew things were tense between them. They confirm they were but spending time together brought them close again. They explain Martha went on Alf’s trip with him, then after two weeks they went to hers. Roo is annoyed that they’ve been lying to her and they say they weren’t sure anything would come of it. Leah comes home and cheerily asks what’s going on. Roo says the others will explain and goes outside. Meanwhile, Justin, Tori and Raffy arrive home. They call out to Mason but get no response so Raffy goes to check the back yard. Tori tries to grill Justin about Leah. Raffy returns and says Mason isn’t out there but the rest aren’t concerned.
Brody and Simone are setting up Salt. Brody comments that it’ll be strange not going in there and Simone feels the same. Brody says there’s been no offers but lots of interest. He also needs to talk to Ziggy about a divorce. He then gets a call from Mason and goes to the police station, where McCarthy shows him in. Mason tells Brody he was caught with marijuana but it wasn’t for him: He’s been making cannabis oil for Raffy. Brody is aghast and Mason says he called him because he didn’t think he’d judge. Brody tells him to leave Raffy’s name out of it or he’ll be charged with trafficking to a minor. He says Mason only has one option. Mason signs a statement, has his mug shot taken and is placed in a cell.
Dean is on the phone to someone and agrees a price of $200 for the radiator. He goes to his van and takes some of the money from his stash. Meanwhile, Justin, Tori and Raffy are at home when Brody and Mason arrive back. Brody tries to take Raffy out but she insists on staying. Mason admits he’s been charged with trafficking marijuana and Brody says he only got bail because he has no priors. Raffy says it’s her fault and runs out. Brody goes after her.
Martha finds Roo sitting in the caravan park. Roo is still trying to get her head around the fact her parents are seeing each other, adding that she’s missed out on a lot and now this is one more thing. Martha tells her that wasn’t their intention. Roo says she’s confused but happy for them. She heads back to the house and tells Alf that Martha has gone to the Diner to get dinner. She says she’s not angry but surprised. Alf admits he’s never stopped loving Martha.
Ziggy is scrubbing one of the car parts clean as Dean arrives with the radiator and they trade banter about what Ziggy’s been doing. Ben comments to Maggie on their house being turned into a garage but Maggie doesn’t want to say anything since Ziggy’s enthusiastic. Meanwhile, Leah and Martha arrive home and tell Alf and Roo that Martha couldn’t decide on a dessert so got three. Alf tries to ask Leah about her and Justin but Leah says that’s old news now he’s with Martha. Martha starts to tell a story about going skinny dipping and Alf says what happens on the road stays on the road. Leah and Roo retreat to the kitchen and Roo remarks that, looking at them together, she can’t be angry.
Brody and Raffy walk on the beach. Raffy is upset that Mason got into trouble for helping her but Brody tells her it was Mason’s choice. He explains about keeping her name out of it but suggests they can get a good lawyer and argue Mason was using it for medicinal purposes. Back at the house, Justin and Tori have been clued in and are both furious with Mason, especially Tori. Mason protests that he was just trying to help Raffy and it worked, but they point out that it was illegal and risky.
Tori and Raffy have gelato together at the surf club but neither are really in the mood. Tori says she’s sorry for letting Mason do it but Raffy insists it was what she wanted. Tori says Mason took a risk. Raffy says he was careful and kept her monitored and she hasn’t had any seizures or side effects while she’s been on the oil. At the farm house, Dean and Ziggy are sharing a beer. Dean is keen to get hold of other parts but Ziggy doesn’t want him to pay for everything. She gets a text from Brody wanting to talk and admits that her main disappointment is that Brody wouldn’t leave Salt to have lunch with her but is selling it for Simone, meaning he must really love her. Dean calls Brody a muppet and says she’ll get through it.
Mason shows Justin the detailed notes he took about Raffy’s treatment. Justin is impressed. Tori and Raffy come home but Tori refuses to be swayed, insisting the trial is over. Raffy goes to her room. Mason protests that the oil was helping Raffy but Tori says she said no to it and because Mason didn’t listen he could be going to jail. Next morning, Tori finds Mason on the beach; Justin is meant to be taking him to get a lawyer but had to go into the garage first. Tori apologises for yesterday: She doesn’t condone what Mason did but she’ll help keep him out of jail. She points out that, even without a conviction, he won’t be able to apply for the internship while under criminal investigation. Mason thinks it was worth it to help Raffy.
Ben and Ziggy walk near the surf club. Ziggy chats about the car and Ben tries to check she’s going to work on it outside. After Ben has gone inside, Ziggy sees Brody with Simone. Brody comes over asking to talk. Ziggy isn’t interested but Brody says they need to sort out their finances and the divorce. He says to let him know when she’s ready.
