Extended Summary
Ben finds Ziggy on the beach and wonders why she hasn’t gone for a surf yet. She notes that Brody always ruins her mood, saying he mentioned the “D-word” and she shot him down. Ben notes that with Salt up for sale he’s probably moving on, but Ziggy isn’t keen to deal with it. Further along, near the Diner, Tori runs into Robbo and tells him the baby’s kicking. She also shares the news with Jasmine, who is walking past. Jasmine is polite but says she has to keep moving. Tori wonders if she did the wrong thing and Robbo notes at least she didn’t have a panic attack around him.
Tori joins Jasmine in the Diner and apologises for forcing her and Robbo together. Jasmine has the day off and suggests they go for a walk, where she apologises for her outburst the previous week. Tori says it’s okay since she was responsible for her problems. Jasmine says that’s only part of it and it stems from things that happened in her childhood. She asks Tori to recommend a counsellor.
Back at the Diner, Alf tells Irene and Marilyn that Martha’s gone to Yabbie Creek with Roo and, after a bit of hesitation, confirms they’re giving things a go. He asks Marilyn about Jett. She says he’s been talking to the chaplain but has gone quiet the last few days. Sure enough, at the surf club, John is fussing over Jett, who seems rather withdrawn, getting him a drink and even getting his phone for him when it rings. Alf turns up wanting to talk surf club business with John and Robbo tells Jett that the trainer’s ready for him, but John follows Jett with his drink.
Brody and Ziggy meet up outside the surf club. Brody suggests they get something written up and Ziggy declines to get lawyers involved but doesn’t think there’s much to debate, saying they’ll just split their savings 50/50. Brody says he also wants her to have half the money from the sale of Salt. Ziggy says he owned that before her but Brody says it didn’t become a success until he had her support. He thinks she deserves it and asks her to think about it. Ziggy walks away. Inside, Alf points out unpaid bills and an overdue service to John. John admits he hasn’t been concentrating and agrees to Alf taking over for a while. He abruptly leaves when Jett comes out of the gym. Jett wants to go home but John insists on taking him to the Diner. Alf asks Robbo about Jett. Robbo says Mason thinks he’s fine physically and he has a supportive family.
At the Morgan house, Brody and Tori discuss his talk with Ziggy. Tori points out that Brody has Simone while Ziggy’s on her own and suggests that the money’s a reminder that their marriage is over. At the surf club, Ziggy complains to Ben, thinking Brody’s trying to buy her off. Ben suggests that for the first time in a while Brody’s doing the right thing by her and the money could set her up. Ziggy doesn’t want the reminder and says Brody’s been making all the choices.
At the Diner, Marilyn apologises for being busy as Alf works out the last few surf club details with John. Marilyn serves Jett who asks for some ketchup; Marilyn says there’s some on the table behind him. Despite Alf trying to get him to sit down and eat, John gets up to get it for him. At Salt, Robbo runs into Jasmine when making the lunch run. He tries to make himself scarce after exchanging pleasantries, worried about making her anxious, but Jasmine tells him about the counsellor and suggests once she’s sorted they can talk. Robbo offers to take her to the session and jokes that denial worked for him. “Until it didn’t,”Jasmine points out.
Tori passes Ziggy while exiting the Morgan house, leaving her with Brody. Ziggy notes that Ben wants her to take the money but isn’t sure. She says that being back there reminds her of the life she thought she’d have. Brody doesn’t think they ever wanted the same things: He wanted a house and family and she wanted to get drunk, although he stresses he doesn’t blame her. Ziggy says it’s a lot easier to be angry and hate him. At Salt, Tori gives Jasmine details of several counsellors and recommends Aiden Wilcox. Jasmine mentions Robbo offering to take her. Tori says he’ll take her but won’t go in, noting he only had two sessions with the IVF counsellor.
Brody and Ziggy are on the beach. Brody offers to do what she wants. Ziggy says it is what it is but she never expected to get divorced at twenty-one, wondering if people were right and they rushed and got married too young. She says she’ll do the paperwork and sign it so they can both keep moving forward. Later, at Salt, Brody tells Simone he couldn’t get Ziggy to take any money from the Salt sale but she is taking everything in their joint savings. He asks her to promise they’re going to be together forever.
Ben comes home to find Ziggy playing loud music and working out a budget to get everything she needs for the car. She explains about getting the savings. Ben thinks half the Salt profits would be more but Ziggy says the important thing is it was her choice. Ben accepts it and agrees to get her beer and pasta. At the Diner, Tori briefly chats to Brody about the arrangements. Alf and Marilyn chat about her meeting up with Martha. Marilyn leaves with John and Jett; John insists on pushing Jett’s chair despite Marilyn pointing out he can manage. Irene tells Alf that Jett had a disappointment when he couldn’t get any housing. Alf is surprised to hear he was planning to move out.
Marilyn turns up at the caravan park house expecting to see Martha but Alf tells her she’s in Yabbie Creek with Roo for dinner and he wanted to talk about Jett, saying John’s killing him with kindness. Marilyn agrees Jett isn’t being independent but says it took them time to convince him to accept help. Alf says he has an idea to make things more positive. Meanwhile, Tori goes to see Robbo, initially claiming she just popped in after dinner downstairs then explaining she knows about Jasmine’s counselling. She thinks Robbo should give it a go too: Jasmine’s doing her best for the two of them, so what’s he doing?
