Fisher is angry when he walks in John’s class and finds them there without him. When he meets John later he talks to him about personal responsibility. John explains how Joel had managed to find the policeman Les O’Connell who took him away from his mum as a small boy. John wanted to see O’Connell as it may help him track his mother. Fisher relents as he hears this. Later when Hayley and the others have John for an afternoon class he thanks them all for the “sorry book” and says that they don’t need to feel sorry just as long as they know about the stolen generation. John later goes to visit Joel and say goodbye.

Marilyn is reading Alan’s book, On the Crest of A Wave and is shocked at the portrayal of Fisher. When Vinnie tells her he thinks that everyone can have a dark side to their character Marilyn attempts to stick up for Fisher. However what Vinnie has said causes Marilyn to think about how Fisher will raise Byron – will he treat him the same way he did Alan? Marilyn later talks to Rebecca and asks her if Fisher was a good father to her. Rebecca says yes they had their troubles but they go on well.

Will tells Peta that he has realised that Peta’s gran would not think he was good enough for her. Peta later tells him that he is right and breaks off their relationship. Peta is panic-stricken and phones her brother David who is now in the city for help. She asks if he can come home to help her sort this out. David says he cannot leave because of his new job. As she puts the phone down Will arrives at the front door. Peta then tells Will about her Gran dying when she went to Poland and that they told nobody so they would not have to go into foster homes. They were able to collect their gran’s pension check as it was never stopped and they have managed to look after themselves. Will is bewildered by Peta’s story but tells her he will keep it a secret.
