Gregory Hayes

Hayes was a guard at the prison where Darryl Braxton and Trevor Gunson were housed. He frequently signed in visitors, including Ricky Sharpe and Martin Ashford. On the day Gunno turned on Brax, Hayes escorted Ricky and Ash from the prison as it went into lockdown. He later tended to an injured Brax after the brawl and attempted to get him to lag on Gunno in exchange for his transfer to a different cell block. When Brax refused to give up Gunno, Hayes escorted him to the prison medic, and later, solitary confinement.

He appeared periodically after this as a support to Brax, and upon Ricky’s first visit with baby Casey he was forced to search him for contraband. After the visit, Brax realised he needed to be with Brax and Ricky and hatched a plan to escape from prison. He gave up Gunno to Hayes as the inmate bringing drugs into the prison in order to secure himself a transfer. Hayes allowed him the courtesy of making a secret call to Ricky to let her know he was being transferred and accompanied him for the journey. During the transfer, they were run off the road by one of Gunno’s associates. After the crash, Brax saved Hayes and got him to unlock his handcuffs so he could save the driver of the transfer vehicle. He called emergency services and assisted Kat in setting up the crime scene.
