Steph Green

A nurse at the Northern Districts Hospital, Steph befriended Dexter when he started working there as a student nurse. When she sarcastically suggested hugging doctors to make them feel better, Dexter went and hugged Sid, which Steph was less impressed about on realising Sid was his father. She met him for coffee at the Diner where she also met April.

Dexter confided in Steph about Romeo’s terminal cancer diagnosis. April saw them talking and tried to tell Steph about Dexter’s brain injury and that he was vulnerable, but Steph explained she already knew all that. Dexter later told Steph he wanted to be more than friends and kissed her. After they’d talked things over, she came to his house with pizza and a DVD of a Colombian telemovie. They ended up sleeping together, creating an awkward moment when April caught them together the next morning.

Steph stayed over again, but when Dexter went over the top bigging her up to Sid at breakfast, she concluded he wasn’t ready for a relationship and suggested they go back to being friends. However, she was still open to a casual relationship. When they were next on shift together, she pretended it was their first meeting, then convinced him to have sex with her in a supply cupboard.

The arrangement came to an abrupt end when Dexter found out Steph was making up patients’ obs based on the last figures rather than doing the proper checks. Aware of how important obs were from his time as a patient, he insisted she had to stop. When Steph ignored him and carried on cutting corners, Dexter reported her and she was fired. She retaliated by reporting him for having sex with her at work; Dexter faced a disciplinary as a result but was ultimately allowed to remain at the hospital.
