Home and Away Spoilers – Can and Eden’s marriage survive without children?
Next week on Home and Away in the UK, Cash and Eden’s marriage is thrown into doubt as they reach a painful impasse over having children.
Less than a year after tying the knot, Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) has stunned Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) by telling him that she doesn’t want to become a mother, after Mackenzie (Emily Weir) and Levi’s (Tristan Gorey) devastating miscarriage left her questioning whether she could ever face pregnancy herself.
Cash tried to reassure Eden that he respected her decision, acknowledging that it was her body and her choice. But it was clear that he was still struggling privately, especially as he continued to hope children would be part of their future.
Eden knows how much fatherhood means to Cash, but her doubts have only continued to grow, and next week she attempts to take further action to make sure she doesn’t fall pregnant accidentally.
With Cash away in the city supporting Richie (Rocco Forrester-Sach) at his conduct commission hearing, Eden confides in Abigail (Hailey Pinto) that she’s booked a medical appointment to discuss having her tubes tied.
Abby is taken aback, warning Eden that the procedure feels very final. Although Eden insists she knows her own mind, Abby gently questions whether Cash should be part of the conversation too.
Eden points out that Cash knows she’s looking into it, but Abby still encourages her to call him. Eden eventually does so, promising her husband that she won’t make any major decisions without speaking to him first.
The appointment only leaves Eden more frustrated. She later tells Remi (Adam Rowland) that the doctor was dismissive and patronising, having told her that no credible surgeon would perform the procedure on a woman of her age.
Eden is left feeling as though she’s being told what she can and can’t do with her own body, but Remi urges her to keep talking to Cash rather than trying to deal with such a big decision alone.
Cash comes home early after realising Eden needs him, and she opens up about how badly the appointment went. He’s sympathetic at first, but Eden then reveals that she has been researching other options.
Since a vasectomy would be less invasive and can sometimes be reversed, Eden asks whether Cash would consider having one himself.
Cash is thrown by the suggestion, and quickly retreats from the conversation by claiming he needs to check in at the police station.
Eden’s frustrated that he’s walking away from such a huge conversation, but Cash insists that he’s needed whilst David (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor) is out of action, and they can talk about it later.
When Eden later heads to the station herself, she discovers from Constable Lombard (Shannon Ryan) that Cash isn’t rostered on after all. Realising that he’s lied to avoid the discussion, Eden leaves him a message demanding that he call her.
Cash is actually at Salt where he’s chatting chat with Justin (James Stewart), admitting that Eden has asked him to get the snip. Although Cash knows he has been avoiding the conversation, he also feels there’s no way he and Eden are going to agree.
Justin points out that avoiding the problem won’t make it go away—Eden’s told Cash what she wants, so now Cash needs to tell her what he wants.
The next morning, Cash meets with Eden at the boat wharf and apologises for disappearing.
He explains that he spent the night driving around, trying to get his head straight, and admits that he thinks everything is happening too quickly.
Cash makes it clear that he isn’t trying to dismiss how Eden feels, but he believes they need to slow down and make a decision that’s right for both of them.
Eden insists that she’s already made her decision, but Cash argues that this isn’t how marriage works. As far as he’s concerned, something this big needs to be decided together.
When Eden asks him directly whether he would consider a vasectomy, Cash finally gives her an answer—he doesn’t want one.
Eden tries to understand why Cash was prepared to respect her decision about getting her tubes tied, but won’t consider this option himself.
As the conversation continues, Eden accepts that she can’t force Cash into anything, just as he wouldn’t force her. But she also makes it clear how important this is to her.
Cash is equally honest, admitting that the plans they previously had for their future were important to him too.
With neither of them wanting to fight, but neither able to say what the other wants to hear, Eden’s left asking where they go from here.
Later, Eden pushes the issue again, asking Cash whether he’s really okay with the idea of them never having children. Eden argues that Cash is already her family, alongside Levi, Abby and Mac, and that’s enough for her.
But Cash can’t give Eden the reassurance she’s hoping for. Instead, he insists that they should keep their options open, leaving Eden to realise that he may still be waiting for her to change her mind about her ‘knee-jerk reaction’.
The conversation becomes even more strained when Cash points out that Eden has changed her mind before about major parts of her life, including ending her years of estrangement from Levi and their dad, Jimmy (Aaron Jeffery).
Eden is furious, insisting that she knows her own mind and is capable of making her own choices. But the row leaves her in tears, and she later confides in Remi that she and Cash are on completely different pages.
Eden admits that Cash is a family guy, while she knows she’ll never be ready to have children. Remi reluctantly raises the question Eden is already afraid of—could this be a deal-breaker for Cash?
Unable to let the issue hang over them any longer, Eden goes to the police station and asks Cash to be brutally honest with her.
She wants to know whether their marriage can survive this.
Cash gives it to Eden straight—he doesn’t know.
