Following the editing of last weeks Seaplane Crash in the UK, many forum members wrote in complaint to 'Five'
Member 'ukfanatic' was the first to receive the following response:
Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding Home And Away.
We can confirm that edits were made to Monday evening's edition of Home And Away. The scenes we edited featured bodies being dragged from the wreckage. It was decided that to broadcast these scenes unedited would be insensitive to those affected by the recent attacks in London.
In our experience, broadcasting things that mirror recent atrocities causes widespread offence. We also know that editing programmes and films is not appreciated by many viewers. However, as a Public Service Broadcaster we must be mindful not to offend vast numbers of viewers.
There are currently no plans to broadcast this programme in a different time slot.

'Five' once again made edits to tonight's UK episode of Home and Away, which featured the aftermath of the Summer Bay Seaplane Crash.
Though the reason is unknown for some of the edits, certain references to the plane exploding could be seen as having vague similarities to the recent London Bombings.
You can read a summary of the episode with cuts in this forum topic, thanks to member rcoleman_uk.

Laurie Foell, who played Angie and Josie Russell in Home and Away until 2005, is heading off to New Zealand today for a stint in medical soap Shortland Street. Details of her role are still sketchy, but we know that she will be playing an ambitious doctor called Justine Jones. We'll bring you more details on when her character will hit screens as soon as we can.

Australia's most popular and well-known couple, Rebecca
Cartright and Lleyton Hewitt, married yesterday in a
"spectacular celebrity affair" at Sydney Opera House. The
couple have been preparing for the wedding for the past few
months, and it has been shrewd in secrecy, with reports that
the guests didn't even know the location of the event until
the day itself.
In a simple, elegant ceremony, the glowing bride in a
stunning white flowing gown was walked down the aisle by
her father as The Bridal March was played on a harp.
The couple exchanged vows before almost 200 guests just
before sundown in a 30-minute ceremony guests described
as "simply perfect".

As
you probably know by now, Hayley Lawson's character has been
re-cast from Rebecca Cartwright to Ella Scott Lynch. This
week's TV SOAP has revealed that the transition from Bec to
Ella won't be instant. Instead, Hayley will leave the show
in August, to return 6 weeks later as the bubbly red-head.
Thanks to

Home
and Away has been nominated in the 'Most Popular Serial
Drama' category at this year's UK National Television
Awards. It is up against strong competition from British
soaps Coronation Street, Eastenders,
Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, and is the only
international soap to be nominated in the category. Here's
what the NTA website has to say about the nominations in the
category:
Now in its 11th year, TV's biggest night of the year has
dispensed honours even-handedly in the soap category
with EastEnders and Coronation Street both voted into
the top spot five times each. But also riding high in
the ratings is five-times a week Emmerdale who will, no
doubt, be hoping to have champagne corks popping in the
Woolpack. But in what is always a fiercely contested
tussle, they will face two other strong contenders
Hollyoaks and Home and Away.
You have until the 29th July to cast your vote now on the
NTA website.

If you were watching last night's UK episode of Home and Away carefully, you may have noticed the lack of KFC sponsorship before and after the show. The company appears to have pulled out of sponsoring the show, becoming the second company to do so after BodyForm pulled out in late 2003.
KFC begun sponsoring the show exactly a year ago, in July 2004.

As you may have seen at the start of tonight's episode of
Home and Away, the cast are taking over the station's idents
and announcements all this week. As we discovered last
week, Chris Hemsworth (Kim) and Jason Smith (Robbie) will be
doing the voiceover announcements at the beginning and end
of the show every day this week.

As well as that, we were also treated to a special Home
and Away ident at the beginning of tonight's show, featuring
Isabel Lucus (Tasha) smearing ice-cream on the screen,
before wiping it off to form the 'five' logo. Presumably
there will be five special idents airing every day this
week, featuring Chris, Jason, Isabel, Ada Nicodemou (Leah)
and Rebecca Cartwright (Hayley). So keep a lookout at the
beginning of each show to make sure you don't miss the
special idents.
Also stay on the lookout for brand new trailers, which
are currently airing on the channel to promote Home and
Away. They feature the five previously listed cast members
playing Volleyball on Palm beach.
Thanks to Jessica, you can download a video clip of
the special Tasha Ident, and the closing credits, both of
which feature voiceovers from stand-in announcers Chris and
Jason.
