This week's TV WEEK
reports that Chloe Richards, played by Kirsty Wright, will return to
Summer Bay later this year. Details of why she's returning are
sparse, but it's reported she's back for "protection after a
relationship in the City goes sour".Don't remember Chloe? Our
Forum's
joey-lee gives us a rundown of her character:
She arrived almost 10 years ago – she left her father
to live with Irene, she stayed there as Irene’s ‘second kid’
along with the first, Selina. She dated Jack for a while, Curtis
had an ‘affair’ with Jesse had a little thing with Liam only
lasting a few episodes.She was raped mid-way through 1996,
which in my opinion was the best storyline during her time, as
it lasted quite a while – her father shot dead the convicted guy
after court, and up until the 1996 season finale she thought
life had moved on, she had - until after dating Brad for a few
months, she realises he is the psychopathic rapist that got
away… Amazing season finally, one of if not my favourite –
pretty freaking, chases through the bush, pig traps…etc
- and later…She Dated Lachie, got pregnant with his child,
interfering Diana arrived and there were a few tough times. She
had Olivia, Lachie’s child, Lachie became brain damaged in 1998,
and Chloe went to visit him, only to find out the extent of his
illness – he couldn’t remember Chloe – she was devastated. He
died a few months later. His brother and her were an item on and
off, she was never over Lachie, and after her marriage to him,
[calling him Lachie the day before her wedding day…trying but
unsuccessfully making the marriage work] they split and she left
for the city with Olivia.
She was best friends with Sally for the last couple of years
of her time in Summer Bay, and part of the 96/97 Shannon,
Curtis, Selina, Jack teenage group era, and as said, lived with
Irene for the majority of the time.

Campus, the new drama from ex-Home and Away Script Producer, Bevan Lee, has had yet another name change.
The show, which was originally planed to be as a Home and Away Spin-Off, started off life as 'Ten Degrees South'. It was soon re-named as 'Campus', but Bevan recently revealed on our Message Board that it was still a working title.
Today, the Australian Financial Review revealed the new title for the show, "Headland". In an article about Seven's line up for the second half of 2005, they write:
"New local programs for the second half include Last Man Standing, Headland (a twice-a-week drama that had the working title of Campus), Beyond Tomorrow, Let Loose Live, World's Craziest Videos and Guinness World Records." The show, which stars Home and Away's very own Sam Atwell, has just completed it's third week of filming and is due to premier on Seven later this year. The show will make it's UK debut on Channel 4 at a later date.

Seven News confirmed yesterday that Rebecca Cartwright will leave her role as Hayley Lawson in Home and Away next month. Bec, recently announced that she's 3 months pregnant, hinted that she would leave the role when her contract expires later on this year. However, the date has now been brought forward and she will film her final scenes at the end of June.
It's going to be so hard to leave all my friends at Home and Away. The last six and a half years have been amazing.
Rebecca Cartwright

In a move which has shocked many members of our Message Board, the show's producers have decided to re-cast the role of Hayley Lawson. "In the best of show business traditions we will recast the character of Hayley, as we have done a number of times during the 18 years of Home And Away's life," said Seven's Head of Drama.
Re-casting for the role apparently begins today.
Hayley won't be the first popular character to be re-cast. Pippa, one of the show's original characters and played by Vanessa Downing, was replaced in the role by Debra Lawrence. More recently, Joel McIlroy replaced Martin Dingle-Wall in the role of Flynn Saunders.

Channel Five cut a few seconds from today's UK episode of Home and Away, leaving members of our Message Board rather confused as to why the cut was made.
In the first scene of the episode, after Robbie reminded Tasha they'd have to stick to the story Henry told the police, Tasha says 'But it's wrong', in the Aussie airing of the episode Henry then says "Don't worry Tash, do you think I care what those morons think?" Matilda then says that no-one is going to bother the Hunters now she's doing self-defence classes.
This cut seems completely un-necessary, with the word 'morons' surely not unsuitable for a 6pm timeslot. To further add to the confusion, five left in Robbie's claims that he had "pissed" his pants, which seems obviously far less suitable to an early-evening timeslot.
There is currently no word from five on why the cuts were made.

The Australian Broadcast Authority has found that Channel Seven breached the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice, by incorrectly classifying the 2004 Olympic Cliffhanger Episode as 'G'.
The following extract is from the ABA's report, which was published on the 9th May 2005.
On 27 October 2004, the ABA received a complaint concerning an episode of Home and Away that was broadcast on 13 August 2004 at 7 pm. The complainant alleged that the episode contained violence and adult themes that were inappropriate for a child audience.
The ABA found that the closing scene of the episode depicted a seriously mentally ill young woman intending to murder at least one of the other characters and the violence depicted in the episode was serious in impact and included the sound effects of gunshots and characters clearly terrified for their lives. The episode concluded with the inference that at least one character had been murdered
The ABA determined that Channel Seven:
• breached clause 2.4 of the Commercial Television Industry Code of Practice 2004 (the code), by incorrectly classifying the episode of Home and Away broadcast on 13 August 2004 as G according to the Television Classification Guidelines
• breached clause 2.20.3 by not supplying a consumer advice warning for a PG classified program that contained material of a strength or intensity, which the licensee would have reasonably believed parents or guardians of young children may not expect and
• did not breach clause 2.1.2 of the code.
In this case, the program was classified as G, but broadcast in a PG time zone. The complainant alleged that the program was unsuitable for the PG classification zone.
The ABA found the content was inappropriate for the G timeslot and at the 'high end' of the PG classification. The licensee maintains that the program was suitable for G classification, although the episode ‘was certainly at the borders of what is permissible in a G classified program’. The ABA notes that the licensee disputes that the episode was at the ‘high end’ of the PG classification. The licensee considers that the episode fell well within what is permissable in the PG classification zone, and was justified by the story line and program context.
The licensee claims that the program is not targeted to very young children, but to teenagers and young adults. However, to be classified as G, the program ‘must be very mild in impact and not contain any matter likely to be unsuitable for children to watch without supervision’.
The ABA is not satisfied that the program meets these requirements and therefore it does not meet the G classification guidelines. As the program was not correctly classified according to the Television Classification Guidelines, the ABA finds that the licensee breached clause 2.4 of the code.
The ABA considers that the inappropriate classification of this episode was an isolated error and not part of a pattern of misjudgement or systemic failure. The ABA will continue to monitor the licensee’s performance against the relevant code provision.
Australian Broadcast Authority, 9th May 2005

Glynn Hewitt, the father of Bec's fiancé Leighton Hewitt, confirmed the pregnancy to the Herald Sun on Thursday. "We can confirm the news," the newspaper reports him as saying. "We are tremendously excited and happy about it."

Home and Away performed well at last night's TV WEEK Logies in
Australia, winning 2 of the 6 Awards it was nominated for.
Chris Hemsworth (Kim Hyde), who was nominated against co-star
Beau Brady (Noah Lawson), won Most Popular New Male Talent.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Cartwright, who shot to stardom as Hayley Lawson,
won a Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress.
Rebecca, who lost out on the Gold Logie award to popular Network
10 presenter Rove McManus, also walked away with Best Dressed of the
Night award, for a dress lovingly described by members of our
Message Board as a
'tablecloth'.

Panic struck near the end of the awards, when
Channel Nine lost its' signal just minutes before the Gold Logie
Award Winner was announced. Fortunately, the signal returned in time
for Rove McManus to be revealed as the winner.
More pictures of the Home and Away stars at the Logies can be
found on the
TV WEEK website.
Thanks to Valkyrie and Des for the pictures.
