Having just read the follow-up article on the main site and learned Dan Bennett's appalling shallow reason for axing the character of Skye because she didn't look like he imagined, rather than recognising that he still had a great character played by a great actress with a lot of potential and building on that, I'm now more convinced than ever that this was not a case of "a great story ruined by executive interference" and we were spared having to sit through a second bout of Don Fisher misery porn.

Sorry, he axed Skye for being the average, thin Summer Bay teenager????

I suppose it was over a year later, but Coco's 2017 eating disorder storyline could have suited Skye even with Marlo in the role.

I don't know. It's nice that he's gone on record and given us an insight into what was going on behind the scenes at that time, I just can't get behind the narrative of "Script executive's ideas ruined my meddling network." Because his ideas don't seem that great, and much of the stuff that ended up on screen at the time wasn't great (some of which he's admitted didn't work but some of which was down to him), to the point that it was in 2016 that I came as close to giving up on the show as I ever have.

Don had his moments. He wasn't above a chuckle. And he provided unintentional comedy. Hence the Punk look, Burnt roast, McEnroe Tennis fit, Jack/Bed stunt, Hair Dye mishap, etc.

He really seemed to like the Dumb Street sketch on Fast Forward! ? (Theme/Dialogue was audible and he was laughing while Lou felt like doing the opposite)

Isn’t it funny how different people view different eras? I believe mid2015 to late 2017 was one of the strongest eras in recent decades! ?

2016 aside from a few wobbles was an ok year. Crash Landing week was great.

2015 left me with mixed feelings.

Could have got through 2017 without Hunter or Ash tbh
