Is something wrong? *Catherine doesn’t answer her* Alexis: Cath?? Tyson: If she doesn’t want to talk, that’s fine. Alexis: No, it’s not Tyson! *Catherine still looks depressed* Riggot: Hey sis. *waves in her face trying to get her attention but fails* *Fellow classmates Damien Manu and Teangi Foster come inside* Damien: Hey guys. What’s wrong with Catherine? Riggot: I think she’s upset man. Teangi: Who can blame her after yesterday’s outburst. Alexis: Are you blaming Alex? Teangi: No. I was just saying that he shouldn’t have yelled at her like that. Alexis: You’re right Tia. But you have to give them some space. Damien: Have you tried talking to him Riggz? Riggot: We tried. But Lexi is right, we have to give him some space. Damien: True. Over in 8 Plato, fellow classmate Nicola Burke is talking to Madison and Hayley about yesterday’s incident at the shopping centre. Nicola: Did you hear what Kiara in Year 10 did to Natalie yesterday at the mall? Madison: No, what did she do sis? Nicola: Dumped Natalie on her arse! Hayley: Good job Kiara! That’ll teach Natalie not to mess with other people. Bitch! Madison: Too right! *Elijah enters the classroom with Leon and Seru* Elijah: Did you hear about yesterday? Nicola: I already told them Elijah. Seru: I have an idea. Leon: What is it bro? Seru: We put Catherine and Alex in a room together and get them to talk. Hayley: Don’t! Seru: How come? Hayley: It would make things worse. Madison: Just give them some space for a few weeks. They’ll eventually come around. Nicola: Where is Alex anyway? Leon: Doing the Science exam. He did the Maths one yesterday right after our HSIE exam. When TAFE gets dismissed that afternoon, Sylvia goes into Pamela Maddigan‘s office. Sylvia: You wanted to see me Mrs Maddigan? Pamela: Yes, I did Sylvia. Please take a seat. *Sylvia sits down on one of the chairs* Pamela: Why have you decided to take a Hospitality course at TAFE? Sylvia: Well, I’m currently working part-time over at Harleys and I really could use some experience here. Pamela: I see. Sylvia: Will this effect my current HSC Studies course? Pamela: Of course not. The course doesn’t start until June 5th and it’s in the evening instead of the day. Sylvia: That’s good. Pamela: I’ll have you signed up right away. Have a great weekend. Sylvia: Thanks you too. *walks out of the office* *Alison and Rachael are at the bus stop waiting for Sylvia* Sylvia: Where’s Melissa? Rachael: She got a lift from Dina. From what I hear, Nina’s moving back in today. Alison: True. And Amy’s moving in with me. Rachael: Amy left at recess. Is that surprising to you? Alison: No. She was supposed to meet the movers by eleven. Sylvia: Kat told me that Amy spent the whole week packing up her flat. Alison: She had to get rid of a lot of old stuff that she didn’t use. Sylvia: True. *The bus arrives and the three girl get on it* When Alison gets home, she finds Amy in the kitchen drinking strawberry milk. Alison: Hi, you all settled in? Amy: Well, I still need to organise the photo albums but other than that, I’m all settled in. *smiles* Alison: Ready for our half-yearly’s on Monday? Amy: As ready as ever! Alison: I hope Vicki’s mother is okay. Amy: She’ll be fine. Trust me. *Alison looks sympathetic* After a five hour drive, Vicki arrives in Dubbo and goes to the hospital where she visits her mother. Vicki: Hello Mother. *gives her a bunch a flowers* Mrs Adams: Thanks Vicki. *hugs her* Vicki: Where’s Karen? Mrs Adams: In the ladies room. *Karen arrives* Karen: Vicki? Vicki: Hello Karen. *Karen walks over to Vicki and hugs her* Karen: I have missed you so much! Vicki: I know. So, how have you been. Karen: I’m doing good. Yourself? Vicki: Pretty good. *Karen smiles at her* Vicki: Are you mad at me for murdering Dad? Karen: Of course not! That man deserved to die! Vicki: Yeah. Well, at least we still have each other. Karen: Agreed. How old are you now? Vicki: I’ll be 28 in August. You know that. Karen: Do you know how old I’ll be? *smiles* Vicki: You’ll be 23 in November. *laughs smugly* That night, Catherine is walking all alone in the shopping centre and sees everyone talking and going about their business. Girl 1: Did you see how fat she was? Girl 2: I know. Total blubber! *giggles* *A young mother talks to her toddler* Mother: What’s the matter sweetie? Mummy will get you a bottle. *Catherine runs into the disabled toilets and locks the door* Catherine: I’m sorry Alex. Dina: Remember this photo? Nina: Oh, yes. That one’s from our Year 12 formal. *In the photo, Dina is wearing a silver dress while Nina wears a frilly pink evening gown* Dina: Who’s that girl? *points to a girl wearing a black and gold dress* Nina: I think that’s Jennifer Pleasant. Dina: So it is. Who was the one we didn’t like? Nina: Mary-Sue Oldie. She was such a stuck-up cow! Dina: And she wants to become Premier! *they both laugh* Nina: I’ll never forget my date that night. He was charming, funny, romantic. Dina: Too bad Mary-Sue stole him away from you. Nina: Conniving tramp!!! Should’ve been expelled. Dina: If only were parents weren’t on the school board…. *Both girls laugh again* Over at the Oloaga house, Jessica is on the phone while Christine and the others are still in bed. Jessica: I’ll let Alex know you called Riggot. Bye. *hangs up the phone* *Alex walks into the kitchen* Alex: Who was that? Jessica: Riggot. Alex: What did he want? Jessica: He wanted you to play rugby with the guys. Alex: Too busy! Jessica: Doing what exactly? Alex: I’m just too busy!!! Jessica: Marcus called as well. He wants you to come over and chill at his place tomorrow. Alex: NO!!!! Jessica: *sighing* I give up. *Christine walks in* Christine: Good morning kids. Alex: Morning. Christine: Doing anything today? Jessica: Me and April Austin are going to the mall. Christine: How about you Alex? Alex: Staying home. *Jessica sighs* Christine: Fair enough. *walks into the bathroom* Later that day, Alison and Carina are enjoying themselves in the park when Natalie approaches them. Natalie: Well, well. If it isn’t the poor educated girl? Carina: Get lost Natalie! Natalie: Don’t worry. Common tarts like you don’t learn, they only fail. *walks away* *Alison is furious* Alison: That bitch… *storms over to Natalie and dumps a hot fudge sundae on her head* Natalie: ARGH! Alison: You’ve never looked better in hot fudge, don’t you agree? Natalie: You BITCH!!!! My hair is ruined!! Alison: Ever heard of shampoo dog breath? *Some onlookers laugh* Natalie: You will regret this! TRUST ME!!! *storms off* Carina: See you later loser! *waves at Natalie* *Alison and Carina then laugh* At Harleys, Alexis is sitting in a booth waiting to be served when Riggot approaches her. Riggot: Sup sis. Alexis: Why, hello Riggz. *kisses him on the cheek* Riggot: Here all by yourself? Alexis: Yes. Madison’s got the flu, Hayley’s with Leon, Nicola’s grounded and Catherine’s still depressed. Riggot: I just finished playing footy with the boys. Shame Alex wasn’t there though. Alexis: I know. Catherine really damaged his self-esteem. *Sylvia approaches them* Sylvia: What’ll it be kids? Alexis: Excuse me Sylvia, I’m a woman. *smiles* I’ll have a veggie sandwich with a cappuccino. Riggot: I’ll have a cheeseburger and chips with Coke please. Sylvia: On it’s way right now. *walks into the kitchen* Alexis: So, how did you go in the exams? Riggot: I reckon I did okay. You? Alexis: Maths and Science I know I failed because they are my worst subjects ever!!! *Natalie walks in* Natalie: My beautiful hair! Alexis: Natalie? I have to say, you’ve never looked better. Natalie: Very funny!!! Riggot: What happened to you? Fall in a river of chocolate? *laughs* Natalie: You are the spitting image of your sister you know that? Spiteful, cowardly… Alexis: Why don’t you just shut up Evans? Natalie: Make me! Alexis *to a customer*: Excuse me? You finished with that? *points to a half drunk banana milkshake* Customer: Yes. *Alexis throws the banana milkshake on Natalie* Alexis: Get out! *Natalie storms out* Riggot: Good one Lexi! *they high-five* In Dubbo, Vicki and Karen are in the hospital waiting room when a nurse approaches them. Nurse: Are you Vicki and Karen Adams? Vicki: Yes we are. Karen: Why? Is there something wrong? Nurse: Your mother had another heart attack. She’s in theatre again now. Karen: OMG! Vicki: How long will it take? Nurse: We’re not too sure at this stage. But I’ll let you know later on tonight. *walks off* Vicki: What if she dies? Karen: Don’t say that. She won’t die. *Two hours later, Doctor Carter approaches the women* Dr Carter: It seems that a ruptured artery in your mother’s heart caused that second heart attack. Luckily, it wasn’t fatal. But she needs a heart transplant. She’s very lucky to have survived this. Vicki: How long will she be in here for? Dr Carter: Two weeks tops. Karen: Thank goodness. Vicki: This is really good news. Thank you doctor. *Dr Carter nods his head and walks away* Vicki: I’m so happy that she’s alive Karen. Vicki: Call me if she improves. Karen: I will. Good luck with your exams. *hugs Vicki* Vicki: Thanks. I needed that. *smiles* Karen: Drive safely. Vicki: I will. *gets into her car* Karen: Call me when you get back. Vicki: I will. Goodbye. *drives off* Meanwhile, Melissa is woken up by the phone ringing. She answers it on the bedroom extension. Melissa: *groggily* Hello? Mrs Powell: Hello Melissa darling. Melissa: Mum? Mrs Powell: Who else would it be? Melissa: I told you not to call here anymore after what you did to Nina! Mrs Powell: But darling…. *Melissa slams the phone down* Melissa: Stupid bitch! *The phone has also woken up Dina and Nina* Nina: Who was that? Melissa: One guess. Dina: Your mother! Nina: What did she want? Melissa: Don’t know, don’t care! I’m sick of her! She’s a user and a manipulator!! Dina: Too right! Melissa: Vicki comes back today doesn’t she? Nina: She said she’ll be back sometime this afternoon. Melissa: I just hope the surgery goes well for her mother. Dina: I hope so too. *smiles* Later that day, Alison is over at Jenny and Brock’s house. Jenny is crying. Alison: What’s wrong Jen? Jenny: Ever since I became pregnant, all I do is cry. *wipes away a tear* Alison: Why? Jenny: I don’t know. Like on Wednesday, I was going to the toilet and I just started crying for no reason. Alison: Dina went through that stage during her first month of pregnancy. It’s normal. Jenny: How am I supposed to do the housework when Brock’s at work every week? I find that really challenging now that I’m pregnant. Alison: Why don’t I get Mrs Jackson to help you out a few days a week? Jenny: She wouldn’t mind? Alison: Of course not. Jenny: Hopefully then, I’ll be able to get some rest. *Alison goes over to Jenny and hugs her* At 1:00pm, Vicki arrives back home. She finds Rachael standing on the front porch. Rachael: How’s your mother doing? Vicki: She needs a heart transplant but it’s all good so far. Rachael: When’s the surgery? Vicki: Tomorrow morning. Do you want to come inside and have a coffee? Rachael: Sure. *goes inside the house with Vicki* Vicki: What did you get up to yesterday? Rachael: Apart from studying, I went to the evening church service with my aunty. Vicki: Are you religious? Rachael: I go to church every Sunday. Don’t you? Vicki: No, I don’t. But I do believe in God so I’m not an atheist. *Rachael nods her head* Vicki: How many sugars was that? Rachael: Two. *Vicki puts in two spoonfuls of sugar into Rachael’s coffee* At the shopping centre, Alexis is smearing lip gloss over her lips when Riggot (coming out of Foot Locker) approaches her. Riggot: Hey. Alexis: I’ve been looking for you. *hugs Riggot* Riggot: I needed a new pair of footy boots. My old ones are had it. Alexis: I just bought a new make-up kit over at Grace Bros. Riggot: Which brand? Alexis: Estée Lauder. That’s what a refined woman uses to look beautiful. None of that Revlon rubbish. *applies some foundation on her face* Riggot: Is there a time were you don’t wear make-up? Alexis: When I shower. But I still look beautiful nonetheless. Riggot: I love you. Alexis: That’s sweet of you Riggot. You just made my day. Riggot: No, I really love you! *Alexis stares at him* Alexis: You mean…. Riggot: Yes. *kisses Alexis* Alexis: *stunned* Riggot…. Riggot: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to… Alexis: Well… Riggot: I think I’ll just leave. I’m really sorry. *starts to walk off* Alexis: HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!!!! *Riggot stops dead in his tracks* Alexis: I haven’t finished yet. *walks over to Riggot and kisses him back* Riggot: That was good. Alexis: I love you too.
