PINK Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 Just a short one! Martha stirred as the first rays of light shone through the window, blaring down on her soft pale cheek. Squirming slightly she felt a presence, she had her head on his chest; grinning to herself she recalled the previous night’s event. Looking up she saw a face staring back at her with a soft, gentle stare back at her, examining her features he smiled, lightly but enough to let her know how he was feeling. “Morning” he said softly, “Morning” Martha replied feeling as if she was floating on a cloud. “How long have you been awake?” Martha asked him, “About fifteen minutes” he told her softly as he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. “I’ve just been… watching you” he told her, “Was I that interesting?’ Martha questioned him teasingly. Jack thought for a moment, Smiling down at her he replied “Yes” in a simple soft tone as he gazed deep into her. Reaching up she gently touched his cheek, slowly she moved her pointer finger to lightly trace his pink lips, “This is like a fairytale” she said softly Leaning down he gently kissed her, Reluctantly he pulled away, “What’s wrong?” Martha asked confused, “It’s time to go back to reality” he told her glumly, Martha’s mood suddenly changed from being on cloud nine to confused and depressed, “What’s wrong?” Jack asked her noticing her sudden change in mood, Martha heard his confused question and quickly put on her fake façade, “Nothing” she smiled up at him. Jack looked back at her, not convinced by her vague answer but decided to leave it for now, “We better get up” Martha said as she glanced to the clock beside her, “In a sec” Jack said as she turned to the drawers beside him, Pulling out a box he passed it to her, Martha looked at the object in his hand, Reaching out she hesitantly took it from his grasp, “What is it?” she asked her curiously, “Open it” Jack said simply, Carefully she opened the square jewellery box, Gasping she looked at the white gold locket that lay inside, Smiling at it she heard Jacks voice say, “Open it”, Curiously she snapped open the little heart, Smiling you could see her heart melting as she looked at the little picture of the two of them; it had been taken when they had gone to Luna park a few weeks ago, other side it had in small engraved letters, “I love you”, Raising her hand to her mouth she looked at him through love filled eyes, “Put it on me?” she asked him, Jack reached down to the necklace he pulled it out, reaching out he placed it around her neck, Shivering as she felt the cold heart rest on her chest, she looked down at the little shimmering object and placed her hand over it. Jack clipped it close, his finger tips lightly brushed the back of her next, shivering she turned her head to find him staring in into her eyes, Both of them leaned in, their lips met in a slow but passionate kiss, pushing on her softly she lay down onto her back with Jack following her down. ************* “That’s the last of it” Martha said as she dumped one last bag into the boot. “Right” Jack said as her pushed down the lid of the boot and the pair made their way to there side of the car. Getting in Jack turned to her, “You ready?” her he asked her, Inside she was screaming, NO but on the outside she remained cool and collected, “Let’s do it” she said confidently as she leaned in and gave him a soft kiss on the lips before turning to pull her seatbelt on. Jack copied her actions before turning to put the keys in the ignition. Martha watched on as he turned put his arm around the back of her seat and started reversing out of the car spot. Taking of down the busy suburban road she turned to silently look out the window as they made their way back ‘Home’ where everyone knew them, where everyone judged them, the place where she dreaded returning to. *********** Whizzing past the ‘Welcome to Summer Bay’ sign she took in a deep breathe, raising her hand to the locket that was placed neatly around her neck, closing her eyes she realised, ‘They were home’ NEXT CHAPTER- What's wrong with Martha and returning to Summer bay?
