bttb-rox! Posted July 15, 2007 Report Share Posted July 15, 2007 Sorry for not updating recently - I've been quite busy. I should be able to update a bit more now, though . I've just changed the type of story to long fiction because this is going to be an ongoing fic as far as I can see. So I hope you will continue to enjoy reading it . I'm also going to start adding more of the characters that haven't been included yet. There's going to be a big return as well, but I'm not telling or giving away any clues as to who it will be. However, rest assured, they will cause havoc in Summer Bay! This is a fairly short update... Chapter 22 EXT – HANNAH’S CAR – EARLY AFTERNOON Hannah: So, what do you think of it around here? Ollie: It's great. Ollie and Hannah both get into the car. Ollie: Can I ask you something? Hannah: Of cause you can. Ollie: I know I was only going to stay here for a day, but...could I stay for just another couple of days? Only if it's no trouble. I mean, if it is I’ll completely understand. Hannah: It would be a pleasure. You're more than welcome to stay for however long you want. Ollie: Thank you. You are so kind to me. Hannah: I do have one concern, though. Ollie: What’s that? Hannah: Don’t you think your foster mother will be worried about you? Ollie just stares into space Hannah:…Ollie? Ollie: Sorry…probably. Hannah: It might be nice just to give her a call. Ollie: I’ll think about it. Ollie smiles at Hannah Hannah: Okay. Look, I won’t force you into anything you don’t want to do. Ollie: Thanks. It’s really nice of you to let me stay for a bit longer. You don’t know how much this means to me. Hannah: No problem. They both smile before driving off back home. INT – THE HUNTER HOUSE – LATE AFTERNOON Beth has fallen asleep on the sofa. Martha and Jack walk in to see how she is doing. Jack: She must be exhausted. Martha: Yeah. Jack: Should we wake her up? Martha: I’d leave her. She probably just needs to catch up on some sleep. Beth begins to wake up and notices Jack and Martha looking over her. Beth: Hey. I must have fallen asleep. How long have you guys been here? Jack: We just got here. Martha: We’re just about to have some tea, do you want some? Beth: That would lovely, thank you. Beth gets up from the sofa and goes to help Jack and Martha make the teas. Jack: It's okay, you go and sit down. Beth: No, it's fine. Martha’s phone rings. She goes into the living room to take the call. Jack: Is everything okay? You seem a little…tense. Beth: Everything's fine, Jack. Beth smiles faintly at him. It's obvious that she is distracted. Martha: Sorry, I’ve got to go. That was Luc and Mattie. Beth: Is Tony okay? Martha: Yeah, he's doing well apparently. They just need a lift back from the hospital. Beth: I can do that. Martha: Nah, I'll do it, don't worry. Jack: Okay, love you. They kiss. Martha leaves the house. Beth goes to sit on the sofa. Jack: That’s it. I’m out of ideas. Beth: Ideas for what? Jack: Why you seem so distant. Beth: It’s just been a very difficult day. Chapter 23 INT – THE HUNTER HOUSE – LATE AFTERNOON Beth: Just after Tony was in the accident, he kept asking where someone called Sophie was. Jack: Sorry, did you say Sophie? Beth: Yes, why? Do you know who she is? Jack: Sorry, Beth, I have to go. I...I just remembered something. Beth: Where are you going, then? Jack: Ermm…just...out. I’ll be back soon Jack hurriedly walks out of the door, while Beth wonders what he is up to. INT – NDH – LATE AFTERNOON Martha arrives to pick up Lucas and Matilda as Jack rushes in. Martha: Jack! Jack: Sorry, Martha. Matilda: What's up with him? Jack goes into Tony’s room Tony: Hey, mate. What are you doing here? Jack: Dad, I think we need to talk. Tony: What about? Jack sits down next to his dad INT – HANNAHS HOUSE – LATE AFTERNOON Ollie is sitting down eating a bowl of cereal when Nicky comes in. Nicky: Do you want to play on my gameboy now? Ollie: Can it wait just a few minutes? Nicky: Hmm...okay. Ollie: Cool. How about you go and choose which game you want us to play? Nicky runs off to find a game. Ollie gets up and walks over to the kitchen Ollie: I’m just going upstairs to ring Sally and Brad, if that’s okay? Hannah: Of course it is. Ollie, I’m really pleased that you've decided to call them. Ollie: Yeah, I just hope they're not mad at me for not telling them where I've been. Hannah: I’m sure they won’t be mad. They’ll just be concerned. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Chapter 24 HANNAH’S HOUSE (OLLIE’S ROOM) - LATE AFTERNOON Ollie gets his mobile phone out from his rucksack and dials Sally’s number. INT – THE SUMMER BAY CARAVAN PARK HOUSE – LATE AFTERNOON The phone rings. Sally goes over to pick it up. Sally: Hello. Ollie: …Hey, it’s me. Sally: Ollie, are you alright? Ollie: Yeah, I’m fine. Sally: Where are you? Ollie: I'm staying at someone's house. Sally: Someone' houses? Ollie: They’re really nice. They’re setting up an adoption centre in a few weeks time. Sally: Well, that’s great. They obviously have experience in looking after kids, then? Ollie: Yeah. Ermm...Hannah and Paul have got a little boy called Nicky, who’s very playful. And Hannah’s sisters, Katie and Susan, are staying here as well. Oh and then there’s Buzz, the dog. Sally: Wow, that’s a big family. Ollie: It's great, and they are really nice people. I think you would get on well with them. Sally: I’m sure I would. Ollie: …Look, could I come and see you? Sally: Ollie, of course you can. You're welcome here at anytime. This is your home and it always will be. Ollie: Thanks, Sal. How does tomorrow sound? Sally: We’d love to see you then. Ollie: Okay, I’ll be round in the afternoon. Sally: Look forward to it. Ollie: Bye. Sally: Bye, Ollie. Sally puts the phone down as Brad walks in. Brad: Who was that? Sally: Ollie. Sally smiles. INT – NDH – LATE AFTERNOON Tony: Mate, you're scaring me, what’s going on? Jack: I think you know what’s going on Tony: Errm... Jack: Sophie is what’s going on! Tony: Beth said that I was calling out her name just after the fire. Jack: Yeah, you were. Chapter 25 Jack: I don’t know, but you’re going to have to find a way to tell her, because she is going to find out sooner or later. Tony: I know I know. Jack: Are you going to tell her, then? Tony: Eventually, Jack. I just don’t want to think about it right now. Jack: If you don’t tell her then I will. Tony: Jack, we’ve been through this before. Jack: Yeah, we have and you said you would tell her. Tony: Look, I will tell her…soon. Jack: Oh please. Jack gets up from the chair. Jack: When is "soon"? A couple of weeks, months. Wait, how about years? Or maybe never! Who knows with you. Tony: Jack, don’t be like that. Just give me a couple of days. Jack: She has a right to know now! Tony: Come on, I’ve told you that I’ll tell her soon…when I get out of here. Jack: You better not be lying to me dad, because if you are, you know who I’m going to be speaking too. Tony: You have my word. Jack: Lucas deserves to know that you and mum had a daughter together as well. Have you forgotten that he doesn’t know he's got an older sister? Tony: Jack, me and Kate gave Sophie up for adoption because we separated for 6 months just after she was born. Kate couldn’t handle looking after you both. Lucas came along 4 years after Sophie was born, and I didn’t want him to know that me and Kate gave her up for adoption. I just didn’t feel that he needed to know. Jack: And you think that that makes it right for you not to tell him and Beth? Tony: I’m not saying that. I just...I just didn’t feel it was necessary. But now I accept that it is, so I will tell her as soon as I get out of here. I promise. Jack: You’ve made the right decision, dad. Tony: I know I have, mate. INT – THE HUNTER HOUSE – LATE AFTERNOON Matilda and Lucas arrive back home, Beth is still sitting on the sofa staring into space. Matilda: Are you alright, mum? Beth: Oh, yeah, I’m fine. Lucas: Beth, Mattie told me about Sophie. Beth: So you know too? Lucas: Yep, and if I knew who she was I would tell you. Beth: I know you would, Lucas. Beth gets up and walks over to the kitchen Beth: Would you two like a drink? Matilda: Thanks. Lucas: I’m okay, thanks, Beth. I've actually got to finish an assignment in my room. Matilda: Have fun. Lucas: Ha ha. Lucas goes into his room. Matilda: You’re still worried, aren’t you? Beth: You can always tell, can’t you? Matilda: It’s pretty obvious. But you could be worrying about nothing. Beth: You think? Matilda: Maybe Tony was just feeling a bit weird after the accident and started saying stuff that wasn’t true. Beth: It wasn’t that. He was feeling perfectly normal when I was talking to him. Matilda: Well, maybe you should go and talk to him again. You never know, maybe he’ll give you an explanation. Beth: You know what? I can’t stand this anymore, so that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Beth grabs her bag and walks out of the door. INT – NDH – LATE AFTERNOON Jack is sitting next to Tony’s hospital bed. Tony: Every time I think about Sophie I just feel...regret, you know. Me and Kate should have waited to see if we could sort things out, but at the time...we just couldn’t. Jack: You never told me any of this, dad. Tony: I’m sorry for that, Jack. I just didn’t think that it would come back on me like this. Beth walks into the hospital and waits at the reception Jack: So, where's Sophie staying now? Tony: The last time we spoke was when she was seventeen, which was three years ago. She was living in a flat in Sydney then. Jack:…I’d like to see her one day. Tony: What? Beth listens to Jack and Tony’s conversation from outside of his room. Jack: I’d like to meet Sophie. Tony:...I didn’t expect you to say that. Jack: She’s your daughter and she’s my sister. I’d like to get to know her. Beth walks in stunned and just looks at Tony Tony…Beth, wait! Beth runs out of the hospital. Jack: I’ll go. Tony: Jack, please make sure she doesn’t hate me.
