Dean and Levi are against the clock. Will Mackenzie and Ziggy survive? Rose says goodbye.

Extended Summary

Cash and Remi run into each other in a park area. Remi comments on Cash’s promotion and Cash points out he’s just getting his old job back. Remi asks Cash to keep an eye on Eden after she learned of Kirby’s solo career, noting that she seems to be lost. Meanwhile, Rose, Kirby and Bree are on the balcony at Salt. The others try and get Rose to tell them stories – Kirby asks about the worst criminal she arrested and Bree asks about the weirdest crime – but Rose says an officer never tells. Bree asks what she’ll miss the most and Rose says the sun and surf, before correcting to her friends. They ask if she’s said goodbye to Mali. Rose says she hasn’t spoken to him since landing him in trouble with Abigail and doesn’t think it will happen.

After failing to get any information from Todd, Levi announces he’s going to go for a walk and leave him with Dean. Todd hastily announces they’re going west and Roscoe has a mate planning to meet him with a car at the border with the Northern Territories and isn’t going to take Ziggy and Mackenzie with him. Levi initially thinks he’s going to dump them and the car but Dean realises he’s not going to leave witnesses. He tells Levi to put Todd in the boot in case he’s lying. Levi reluctantly goes along with it, telling Todd to get in, then tells Dean to drive.

Outside the surf club, Kirby insists on helping Mali with some boards, then tells him Rose is going to leave tomorrow. She encourages him to go to the station to say goodbye. Mali is reluctant, just wanting to send her a text. Kirby tells him Rose says it’s sad they won’t say goodbye and they were a big part of each other’s lives once.

Dean and Levi speed along. Levi is a bit worried about Todd’s cries from the boot, wondering if they should check on him, but Dean says it means he’s not dead. He suddenly brakes sharply, seeing his car in a field next to a corn crop. He and Levi cautiously approach but find the car empty, with a hose connected to the petrol tank. Roscoe suddenly backs out of the corn, pouring accelerant on the ground, and lights a match. Dean tackles him to the ground, sending Levi into the corn. Dean knocks Roscoe out with a headbutt and joins Levi. They find Ziggy and Mackenzie tied to a tractor in a clearing and untie them. Levi asks if they can call the police now.

Rose greets Cash when he turns up at the police station, noticing he’s in senior constable’s uniform again. Cash says she should be slacking off on her last day. Rose tells him about the lunch earlier. She says they’ve had a lead on the River Boys: Reefton Lakes Police had a tip-off about street racing and, although there was no-one there when they arrived, they left a car behind with betting slips in it. Mali turns up and asks Rose to go for a walk with him. Cash offers to cover.

Kirby has her headphones on and is humming a tune before Remi interrupts her, wanting to see her songs. Bree comes in and Kirby complains about Remi going producer on her. She is worried she’s not heard anything about Justin meeting Forrest. Remi thinks Forrest will accept the money they’ve got. They go for a drink, with Kirby asking to keep quiet about her solo career in front of Mali, given she doesn’t want to lose her job at the board shop.

Rose and Mali are walking on the beach. They reminisce about Cash and Felicity’s party. Rose asks if he’ll tell Abby that they met up. Mali says he will and Rose says he’s learning. Mali admits that he should have treated her better. Rose says he has a second chance now and wonders if he loves Abigail. Mali says no comment and they say their goodbyes.

Dean, Ziggy, Levi and Mackenzie are all back at Dean’s house with Karen and Izzy, being questioned by the police. Dean says the police have the culprits and just need to lock them up again. The policeman asks why Dean didn’t call the police about the car being stolen, unconvinced that they had no reception all day. He also points out that Dean stole a car which doesn’t look good with his record. Levi announces he hotwired the car and is prepared to take full responsibility. The policeman says they’ll have to come down the station to make a statement; he and his colleague leave. Karen thinks they should have left the pair to rot in the corn field and Dean says Levi was the one who wanted to let the police deal with them. Mackenzie goes outside for some air and Levi goes to comfort her.

At Salt, Remi gets off the phone and tells Kirby and Bree that Forrest has rescheduled the meeting for tomorrow and Justin is staying in the city overnight. Mali turns up and thanks Kirby for giving him a heads-up about Rose leaving, saying he’s said goodbye to her. Bree decides to go and spend her last night with her flatmate.

Back in Queensland, Ziggy gets soft drinks for herself and Mackenzie (who is playing with Izzy) and offers Levi something stronger. Levi and Mackenzie get the chance to properly congratulate Ziggy on her pregnancy. Dean enters, saying Karen is on the phone to Brett who wants her to come home, and gives the toy koala Levi brought to Izzy. Ziggy reminds him he said she had enough toys and Dean says one more can’t hurt. Levi offers Dean a beer (which he notes was his anyway) and the two of them go outside. Ziggy and Mackenzie reflect on it only taking a life and death situation. Dean comments on Levi supposedly hotwiring the car. Levi says it’s a good job the police didn’t ask him how. Dean offers to teach him one day and Levi passes.

Rose is packing up a box at the police station as Cash approaches. She tells him she’s made a list of cars stolen in the last three months and suggests he double-check them against the street racing reports. Cash quietly thanks her. They hug goodbye and Cash wishes her luck as she thanks him for everything. Next morning, Rose is driving out of town when Kirby and Bree flag her down. Irene joins them and gives Rose coffee and snacks for the trick. There is a last round of hugs, with Bree wishing her luck and Kirby saying not to forget them when she’s a hot-shot detective, before she drives off. Remi joins the women as Irene and Kirby both leave. He gets a text from Sonny wanting to meet up.

At the station, Cash gets a call. He asks where it is and how many people are involved, before telling the officers present that there’s a fight outside the Summer Bay Lifesaving Club and he wants everyone on it. A female officer asks if he’s all right and he explains his girlfriend works there.
