Extended Summary

Dean is waiting by the car as Ziggy, Levi and Mackenzie approach. Levi wonders if anyone has ever eaten as much as Dean, pointing out this is their third shopping stop since they started. Ziggy throws Dean a bag and he complains they’re not the ones he likes. Levi worries about the camping gear in the back of the vehicle but Mackenzie assures him she’s not sleeping in a tent. Levi’s attention is drawn to a sign advertising boat hire.

Dana runs into Bree near the beach and wonders if she’s seen Irene, explaining that Irene had her first day back at work since rehab but may have taken it too quickly: They were meant to meet at the Diner but Irene’s disappeared. Bree suggests calling her again. Irene sees the call at Salt but rejects it. Eden asks if she’s decided what she wants and Irene asks for a glass of water. Cash comes in and starts to tell Eden about his promotion. Eden is worried about Irene. Cash sits with her and she admits she was going to order a drink but didn’t. Cash offers to walk her home and she nods.

Ziggy, Dean, Mackenzie and Levi head up a jetty to where a boat is moored. Despite it being his idea, Levi nervously checks that Dean has a license and just gets a glare in response. Dean helps Mackenzie aboard, then he and Levi look at each other awkwardly until Dean asks what Levi’s waiting for.

Cash settles Irene in at home but is reluctant to leave until he knows she’s okay. Irene talks about propping up the bar waiting to neck scotch two weeks out of rehab. Dana comes in and hears that, saying she’s been looking for her everywhere and thought that was the last place she’d go. Irene says she’s had a routine for 130-odd days and gone into a tailspin the moment she broke it. Cash and Dana try to reassure her but she considers herself a stuff-up.

Mackenzie and Levi relax at the back of the boat. Levi says Ziggy’s good company. Mackenzie thanks him for making an effort with Dean, who Levi considers to be more stubborn than Eden. At the wheel, Ziggy tries to get Dean to be nicer. Dean touches her bump, telling her to be careful, and makes it clear he intends to wait until Levi isn’t around before telling Mackenzie. Levi calls over, asking if they can stop to go snorkelling. After a few whispered admonishments to Dean, Ziggy calls back that she’s keen.

Ziggy and Mackenzie are already in the water and calling for Levi to join them. Dean declines an offer to take part, saying he wouldn’t be caught dead in that get-up. Levi checks Dean isn’t going to drink too much. Dean puts his beer back in the fridge. Levi jumps in the water and Dean complains that there’s never a shark around when you need one before retrieving his beer and drinking. The others swim about underwater with Mackenzie and Levi loudly celebrating seeing a baby turtle. Some time later, they return and discuss how beautiful it was. Levi chats with Ziggy about it but Dean’s attention is drawn to Ziggy’s unzipped wetsuit and he tells Levi to take his eyes off.

Cash arrives back at Salt and tells Eden he left Irene with Dana. Eden shows him over to a table, saying she’s set a meal up to celebrate his promotion, even though it means she’ll hardly ever see him. Cash admits that he can’t stay because he’s just been called in for a night shift. Meanwhile, Ziggy and Mackenzie come across Dean and Levi arguing and wonders what’s going on. Dean says he told Levi to stop checking Ziggy out. Levi interjects that he wasn’t. Dean says he’s done with this and turns the boat on full throttle. Ziggy and Mackenzie shoot each other awkward looks.

At the beach house, Bree and Rose turn up to check in on Irene. Dana promises that she didn’t call them but acknowledges that she ran into Bree while she was running around looking for her. Rose tells her about leaving for the detective course and says that Irene helped her and Xander out when they first moved there. Irene wishes she was still that person. The others argue that going into Salt and not drinking means she passed the test.

With the boat moored nearby, Dean, Ziggy, Mackenzie and Levi are eating fish and chips in awkward silence. Dean declares he’s out and is heading back to the hotel. Ziggy apologises and follows him, accusing him of ruining the holiday. She says she actually likes Levi and Dean accuses her of having preg-head before saying he’s bailing tomorrow. Inside, Levi says Dean will never like him and he’ll go home tomorrow.

Next morning, Dana walks with Irene as she heads back to the coffee cart for take two. Dana offers to stay with Irene but Irene says she needs to do it on her own. Dana leaves and Irene’s watch goes off with another alert. Smiling, she takes it off and puts it in her bag, before exchanging a few words with Rose. As Rose is walking away, Cash pulls up in his squad car and offers her a lift. Rose protests his shift’s over but Cash insists, since it’s her last shift in uniform before joining plain clothes.

The Queensland party pull into a car park at a lookout spot and Levi requests a dollar to use the telescope. Dean stands apart from the others as Levi and Mackenzie admire the view, complaining that he wants to get to the airport. Mackenzie goes over to him and tells him that he wouldn’t want people judging him on his past and if he can’t get over this then he can’t be in her life. Dean calls over for Levi to take a walk with him and Mackenzie nods at Levi.

A short time later, Mackenzie and Ziggy are wondering if they should send out a search party. They see someone coming back but it’s a stranger, Roscoe. Dean tries to say they got off on the wrong foot but Levi says he knows he’s only saying this because Mackenzie made him. Roscoe pulls a blade on the women and another man, Todd, appears behind them. Roscoe tells them to get in the car and Ziggy to drive, getting in the back with Mackenzie while Todd gets in the passenger seat. Dean and Levi are returning, with Levi saying it’s obvious they don’t like each other, when they see the car drive off with Mackenzie shouting for help from the back as Roscoe restrains her. They chase the car for a few seconds but it’s soon out of sight.
