Extended Summary

Cash and Eden have just finished a swim on the beach and run into Remi and Bree, who are chatting about Sonny and how long he’s staying. The four of them make friendly if slightly awkward chit-chat, with Eden suggesting they have breakfast together. Cash suddenly announces that he has an appointment he needs to get to and leaves. Eden awkwardly follows him. Bree says she thought Cash and Remi sorted things out. Remi insists they did. Arriving back at the Newman house, Eden comments on the fact Cash isn’t running off for this supposed appointment he has. Cash says he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for him and Remi to hang out and they shouldn’t push Remi being okay with them.

Roo is trying to set up for a lesson. Eliza is buttering herself some bread. Marilyn tries to get her to use a plate and Roo has to step in and tell her. Alf arrives back and wonders if Eliza slept through her alarm. Eliza says she didn’t set it and doesn’t think fishing’s for her. Roo checks Alf is going to be out of the house so they can start on home schooling. She tells Eliza to get changed out of her PJs so they can get started. Eliza doesn’t see why so Roo says the rule is she gets up, gets dressed, has breakfast and then they start work.

Kirby is practising a new song on her keyboard. Sonny comes in and is pleased she took his advice. Kirby says she already knew she was a musical genius and refuses to play the song for him before it’s finished. Sonny wonders where Remi and Bree are and Kirby says Bree went surfing and Remi went with her. Sonny is bemused that Remi is just watching her like a puppy.

Sonny goes down the beach to find Remi doing exactly that; Remi banteringly suggests Sonny’s jealous of the lifestyle. Bree joins them and Sonny claims Remi was saying he’s out of her league. Remi and Bree decide to go for breakfast and Sonny invites himself along.

Marilyn brings Alf a cup of tea at the Diner and then loiters next to him, prompting him to wonder if she’s going to help him with the crossword. Marilyn admits she’s worried about Eliza: Things seemed positive last night but today she’s like a different person. Alf says Roo doesn’t need any negativity from them and they should support her.

Roo is still waiting and seems on the verge of going upstairs to look for Eliza when she appears. She gives Eliza a planner notebook for assessments and revision but Eliza says she remembers everything and that she’s not interested in any of this. She tries claiming Roo forced her into this but Roo reminds her she said she’d support her decision. Eliza says she doesn’t see the point.

Remi, Bree and Sonny are eating on the balcony at Salt. Sonny says he quickly learned all Remi’s friends are female. Remi protests that he has Sonny and Theo. Bree wonders if he includes Cash but Remi isn’t sure after earlier. Bree learns Remi was drunk when he cleared the air with Cash and wonders if he should talk to him sober so Cash knows he meant it. Sonny has a different idea: A party. Remi gives him his credit card to organise it.

Alf is surprised when Roo and Eliza turn up at the surf club. Roo admits the morning didn’t go to plan, saying she’s hoping for a better result in the afternoon. Eliza decides to go and play pool, surprising Alf given her earlier comments on it. Roo notes Eliza doesn’t seem to see a point in anything and they need to find something to engage her. As Alf leaves, Levi comes downstairs, on the phone to Eden about a delivery, and checks on them. Eliza asks how he became a surgeon and he says it took years at uni and he didn’t operate until after he’d qualified. He says they practised on candavers in anatomy class, which piques Eliza’s interest. Levi asks if she’s interested in medicine and she says she’s interested in a lot of things.

Cash comes back in. Eden continues to be concerned about him and Remi. Sonny turns up and tells Eden there’s a party at her place tonight and the two of them are invited. Eden says they’ll be there. After Sonny’s gone, Cash says he still thinks some distance is good and they should be satisfied that the two of them are good and so are her and Remi. Eden can’t talk further because Levi needs her help with a delivery.

Eden looks over the delivery Levi has taken: It’s for a 50th but is double what they asked for. She asks for his male perspective on something and, after trying to be anonymous, asks why Cash won’t accept Remi’s apology. Levi suggests he might be annoyed at how long it took Remi to come round. Meanwhile, Bree, Kirby, Sonny and Remi are setting up for the party at the Lyrik house. Remi suddenly gets a text from Eden saying Cash won’t be coming. Remi isn’t surprised but refuses to do anything about it. Sonny manages to find Remi’s credit card and heads off to get some booze. Bree suggests Cash might suspect Remi’s apology wasn’t genuine.

Eden checks on Roo and Eliza at Salt. Eliza says Levi’s cool and is interested to learn they grew up in a funeral home. Sonny turns up and meets Levi for the first time. He makes an attempt to ask why Cash isn’t coming before asking to buy all the top shelf booze. Soon after, Levi goes round to see Cash and asks him why he’s not going to the party. Cash reiterates that he thinks he and Remi should stay away from each other and he’s focusing on Eden. Levi asks him to come to Salt to help him with a delivery.

Roo and Eliza return home. Roo clears away the books she had prepared, saying it’s good Eliza has something she’s interested in. She gives Eliza a laptop and suggests she look into what subjects she needs to get into medicine, giving her the planner to make a list and saying they can look into it tomorrow. Eliza agrees.

Cash and Levi are waiting around at the surf club, supposedly for the delivery. Remi turns up, having also been asked to help Levi with a delivery. Levi says he doesn’t care about what Cash said, he wants them to sort it out. He leaves them to it. Cash tells Remi that he thinks Remi didn’t mean a word he said the other night. Remi confirms that he didn’t.

Roo suggests Eliza take a break but Eliza is fine. She says that Year 12 Biology covers infectious diseases which Roo says they can look at tomorrow. She says she’s proud of Eliza for managing to turn things around. Eliza is looking at images of anatomy. She does another search and stares transfixed at photos of surgical tools.
