Extended Summary

Theo and Remi are playing and singing together at the Lyrik house. Remi notes it’s been a while since they did this and Theo thanks Remi for helping him give home a wide berth for Leah and Justin’s dinner. He notes Justin has a lot of making up to do but Remi thinks he can dig his way out of a hole. Bree turns up and sharply says she wasn’t wanted at work. Theo decides to make himself scarce as Remi asks Bree what’s happened.

Tane ushers Perri back into the house, where the AVO is still attached by a knife to the work bench. He asks what happened. Perri says his dad was trying to drown him and he pushed him, worrying he did it too hard and his dad hit his head. He says he was busy trying to catch his breath and suddenly realised his dad was face down in the pool. He thinks he should have just gone with him. Tane says he did the right thing but says they have to call the police. Perri is horrified but Tane says they’ll understand and sends Perri to change into some dry clothes. Perri listens from his room as Tane calls the police to say there’s been an incident and someone’s dead.

Leah continues to sit alone at the table set for dinner. She gets a text from Marilyn saying Alf will be discharged tomorrow. She nearly calls Justin but then changes her mind. Over at the Lyrik house, Bree complains to Remi about Levi threatening to report her, calling it snitching and saying he wants her to lose her job. Remi asks her to tell him exactly what happened. She says her patient had chest pains and she was trying to work out the right treatment but found it hard to concentrate. She drops into the conversation that it was Alf and he’s all right, before insisting she didn’t hesitate. Remi suggests talking to her counsellor. They then hear sirens outside.

Police cars and ambulances are arriving across the road. Tane tells a police officer that Carl’s in the pool. Rose comes over and Tane tells her that Perri’s dad broke the AVO and tried to kill him. They go inside where Rose says she needs to ask Perri a couple of questions and she’ll take a full statement in the morning. Tane checks the other rooms and has to tell her Perri’s gone.

Justin is asleep in his car when Claudia knocks on the door and gets in with him. Justin says it might be for the best that he hasn’t managed to contact Leah. Claudia leans in and kisses him. Justin pulls away, saying he’s married. Claudia says his wife isn’t there and they begin to kiss passionately. Leah is asleep on the sofa at home and wakes up with a start. She looks around and sees she’s still alone.

Perri is walking near the beach and ignores a phone call from Tane. Theo sees him and says they should have that beer now since he can’t go home. Perri is anxious, saying he can’t. Theo tries to get him to go home or call Tane but Perri continues to insist he can’t and asks if he can sleep in Theo’s car. Meanwhile, the police are photographing the knife through the note. Tane tells Rose that he sent Perri to take a shower. Rose points out that would destroy evidence. Tane says Perri was half-drowned. He says he phoned the police 10-15 minutes after coming home and insists Perri only ran because he was scared. Rose warns him against hiding him.

Theo and Perri arrive at the garage. Theo says no-one will look for Perri there. Perri gets a text from Tane saying the police are there and want to talk to him but turns the phone off. Theo is concerned that Perri’s hiding from the police and asks what’s going on. Perri says it was his dad or him. Next morning, Theo is packing a bag of food at home. Leah appears from the bedroom and says Justin didn’t come home. Theo is certain there’s a good reason, even though he can’t think of one. Leah tells him to get off and Theo tries to convince her not to rush into anything.

Claudia emerges from the cottage while Justin gets out of the car. She apologises for throwing the keys away, saying it was childish. Justin asks if he led her on. Claudia says he was nice to her. Justin says he’d never cheat on his wife and Claudia understands that. Justin insists he’s going home, grabbing his things and starting to walk.

Remi and Bree turn up at the hospital with a bunch of flowers. Bree insists she’s just checking up on Alf, not apologising. They run into Alf and Marilyn. Alf thanks Bree for her help and accepts the flowers before going to get a letter for his GP. Marilyn asks if the flowers made Bree feel better and says Alf would have died if Levi hadn’t come along. Bree tries to insist she had everything under control. Marilyn walks away and Bree insists Marilyn has no idea what she’s talking about.

Justin is walking along the road, checking his phone. He suddenly gets a lot of notifications and rings Leah, who is at home emptying her drawers. Justin is apologetic, saying he knows she must have worried. Leah coldly says that’s one way to put it. Justin says he’ll fill her in when he gets home. Leah says she won’t be there and hangs up.

Theo is giving Perri supplies at the garage and wonders how long he’s staying there and what his plan is. Perri refuses to call the police, saying they didn’t believe him when he went to court. A radio newsreader, Grace Lewin, announces that the police are looking for Perri and have issued an arrest warrant. Perri tries to get Theo to give him money to get away but Theo says no-one knows he’s there.

Tane is round the back of the house, trying to call Perri. Rose appears, saying she knocked on the door. She tells him about the arrest warrant, saying a crime’s been committed and warning him about harbouring Perri. Tane says he’s going to look for him, but finds another police officer blocking his way out the front. Rose says he needs to come to the station with them and he gets in the car.

Justin arrives home but finds there’s no sign of Leah and her drawers are empty. Outside the caravan park house, Alf insists to Marilyn that he’s all  right and is just doing a crossword. Leah pulls up in a taxi and announces that she’s left Justin.
