Extended Summary

John meets up with Eden near the surf club and asks her if she’s heard from Cash. Eden notes they’re not on catch-up terms at the moment. John says it’s a good job Cash missed everything last night. Eden is confused and John asks if she missed the emergency vehicles and the news report. Eden says she spent the night at Levi’s. Harper appears and asks if they’ve seen Perri. John realises she has listened to the news. Eden wonders what’s going on.

At the police station, Rose is attempting to question Tane, who continues to insist that he has no idea where Perri is. Rose says Perri’s phone is switched off, which is what Tane did when he was in hiding. He tries to tell her what happened but Rose points out that he didn’t actually witness it. She warns him that if he’s hiding Perri, he could be charged with aiding and abetting.

Leah is explaining to Alf and Marilyn. Marilyn says it’s not Leah’s fault. Alf says he hasn’t seen any evidence of an affair. Leah points out what Eric said but Alf says she hasn’t actually sat down with Justin. Leah argues that she sat up all night waiting for him. Marilyn says Leah doesn’t need them taking sides. Alf asks who’s saying that and says Leah’s welcome to stay but hopes she and Justin will patch things up. Leah says she’s not going to be humiliated. Meanwhile, John arrives at the Diner and finds Perri on the front page of the newspaper. Justin turns up looking for Leah. Alf calls him with an update. Justin asks him to put Leah on, then agrees to what he’s saying.

Cash and Michelle pull up outside the Parata house. They talk about stretching their legs. Michelle asks when her train is and Cash suggests she stay another night. Michelle first tries to say she doesn’t want to take up any more of his time but ends up agreeing. Eden comes across and they have a brief catch-up about Gary. Eden asks Cash if he’s spoken to Tane.

Rose asks Tane if Perri has any friends or family he might go to. Tane wants to go and look for him. Rose notes that Tane hasn’t given them any leads so she doesn’t know where he’d start looking, but confirms he’s not being charged. Tane leaves and runs into Harper, telling her they shouldn’t talk there. Rose calls Harper through and asks her what Tane said and if she was with him last night. Rose doesn’t think Tane was involved in Carl’s death but does think he might be hiding a suspect.

Marilyn suggests she and Leah go for a walk but Alf sees Justin approaching and says he and Leah need to sort things out without a peanut gallery. Alf and Marilyn leave. Justin sits with Leah who says she knows he was with Claudia. Justin is bewildered that she refers to it as spending the night with another woman. He tells her about Claudia throwing his keys away and not having any reception. Leah asks about the other lies and Justin says he’s just been giving Claudia lifts to make up for Theo’s mistake. Leah doesn’t believe him and walks away.

Soon after, Justin is driven up to the cottage and thanks the driver. Claudia is still there. She apologises again and says she tried to find his keys. Justin says he’s got the spare. Claudia hopes this hasn’t affected their friendship and Justin repeats that they’re not friends. However, he wants her to come back with him and tell Leah they’re not sleeping together. Claudia doesn’t want to get involved in his marriage but Justin points out she already is.

At the Newman house, Eden is filling Cash and Michelle in on what’s happened with Tane and Perri. Cash decides to head down the station. After he’s gone, Michelle tells Eden that Gary was disappointed not to be having her as a future daughter-in-law and Eden comments on Cash getting him in the split. She wonders if it was Cash’s idea for Michelle to stay and Michelle says she’s happy to.

Outside, Cash is sat in the car on the phone to someone, learning Tane’s been let go and Perri is still missing. Tane appears and tells Cash everything that happened. He blames himself for not realising Perri was being threatened and is determined to clear his name. Cash says he can’t blame Rose for being suspicious and it looks bad.

Justin and Claudia drive back to town in an awkward silence. When they arrive at the Morgan house, Justin says he’ll call Leah and get her to meet them there. However, when he does, the phone rings in the house as Leah and Marilyn appear from the bedroom. Leah is angry to see Claudia there and accuses her of trying to seduce her husband. Marilyn decides to make herself scarce and Justin asks Leah to listen to Claudia.

John greets Harper on her return to the surf club and learns Tane has been released. Tane appears and says Rose kept asking him the same questions and he doesn’t know where to look for Perri. Harper checks he doesn’t know where Perri is. Tane is annoyed she has to ask. A short time later, the pair exchange apologies. Nearby, Rose is putting up Wanted posters. John tries arguing with her that Perri might be innocent. Rose says she’ll find that out when she questions him.

Eden chats to Michelle about her plans to do an arts degree. Michelle says she didn’t finish school because of her illness and is supposed to be meeting admissions that week. Eden says Felicity would want her to live her life. Cash comes in and says he’s arranged more time off so they can spend more time together. Eden points out Michelle’s meant to be leaving in the morning. Michelle says she can stay a few nights longer.

Justin and Claudia tell Leah that they were ending the arrangement. Leah says she knows from Eric that Claudia’s cheated before. Justin and Claudia are bewildered she spoke to him but Claudia understands now, correctly guessing that he said he knows the signs and that it takes two to tango. She says Eric has never trusted her: She’s never cheated on him and, while she misstepped here, Justin never did. She leaves, apologising for the trouble she’s caused. Leah admits she got it wrong and suggests they forget about the last twenty-four hours. Justin is still thrown by this latest revelation.

Cash suggests to Michelle that they go for dinner at Salt. Michelle says she’s going to spend the night at the motel, since she could do with some alone time. Eden appears to give her a lift. Cash worries this is goodbye but Michelle says she’ll call later about dinner. Meanwhile, Leah has put her things away and suggests she and Justin open the champagne from dinner. Justin still can’t get past her talking to Eric and believing him. Leah asks what she was supposed to think when he didn’t call. Justin argues that he could have been lying in a ditch or dead.

Cash is waiting outside the Lyrik house as Eden comes back. She says Michelle’s fine but Cash accuses her of convincing Michelle to leave. Eden says Cash has no idea how much pressure he’s putting Michelle under and needs to back off. Cash tells her to stop interfering in his life.
