Extended Summary

Bree continues to stare at Alf. Realising she’s not going to do anything, Marilyn runs and gets Nurse Addie, but instead of responding to him, Bree announces she’s going to go and check Alf’s bloods. Marilyn fetches Levi, who quickly gives the instructions to administer GTN to stabilise Alf and repeat the ECG. Bree continues to stare at a computer screen, apparently oblivious to what’s going on.

Justin exits the cabin with Claudia following him. Claudia tries to argue that they have a connection but Justin refutes it, saying nothing has changed since he started driving her. He insists he’s happy with Leah and says they’re both married. Claudia says she won’t be for much longer, explaining about Eric throwing her out. Justin says that doesn’t change anything and tells her to finish up inside so they can get going.

At the Diner, Theo tells Leah that even though Eric might be certain about Claudia, Justin would never cheat on her. He thinks one conversation with Justin will sort it out. Meanwhile, Tane and Harper are discussing the gender reveal party. Tane doesn’t think Dana will let them help. Perri comes along and offers to help out before saying he’ll see him at home. Harper winces in pain and calls Tane over to feel: The baby is kicking for the first time.

Levi checks on Alf, noting his blood pressure’s down. Alf is more his old self. Marilyn follows Levi out and asks him to explain what happened with Bree. Levi says he can’t until he’s spoken to Bree. Marilyn says that’s not good enough and Levi tells her to focus on the fact Alf is going to be okay. Not far away, Bree is washing her hand. Marilyn confronts her and says she thought doctors were supposed to look after their patients, and instead she did nothing while Alf deteriorated. Bree says she hesitated and it was complicated. Marilyn says Levi didn’t see it that way and if Alf had died then it would have been on her.

Claudia joins Justin outside. She says she doesn’t want it to end on this note but Justin is happy to leave it there. He heads towards the vehicle, then pats his pockets and says he’s left his keys inside. Claudia says he didn’t but refuses to give them to him. Justin snatches her bag off her and searches it, even emptying it on the floor, without success.

Levi does some final checks on Alf as Leah turns up, having been called by Marilyn. Levi says the problem’s been resolved with medication but the cardiologist will need to review Alf’s. Marilyn vows to stay by Alf’s side but Alf asks her to go and get some water. He senses Leah needs to talk. Leah says that there are problems with Justin and the best proposal ever probably isn’t going to happen. Alf says that Justin worships the ground she walks on and advises her to talk to him.

Perri arrives home but finds the AVO stuck to the counter with a knife. Carl appears a moment later, saying Perri should be careful about who’s watching him. He follows him outside where Perri threatens to call the police. Carl reveals he has Perri’s phone and pushes him against the wall, continuing to demand he do one more job while Perri continues to refuse.

At the surf club, Harper wonders if she imagined the baby kicking. Tane points out he felt it too. He suggests they do dinner and says he’ll text Perri, who never turns down a free feed. Meanwhile, Carl drags Perri towards the swimming pool, knocking his manaia to the floor in the process. He dunks him under the water with Perri continuing to refuse to help him.

Justin continues to try to get phone reception while Claudia tries to get inside. He tells her to stop playing games and gives him the keys back. Claudia insists it’s not a game to her. She produces the keys and then tosses them away. Meanwhile, Leah is dressed up for their dinner with candles and champagne on the table. At the hospital, Levi looks in on Marilyn sat by Alf before leaving.

Bree is sat in a park area. Levi pulls up in his car, saying he’s been looking for her. He asks what happened at the hospital before. Bree says she’s fed up of people telling her how to treat her patients. Levi tells her that everyone in the room says she stood and watched a man dying then walked out. Bree says she was checking his bloods which Levi calls unnecessary. Bree says that’s his opinion. Levi says that because they don’t agree he has to report her.

Justin is searching the grass in the dark without success. Claudia apologises. Justin announces he’s going to walk home. Claudia protests that it’s pitch black. Justin says Leah’s setting up for their anniversary and is going to be worried about him. He refuses to come inside. As he fails to hotwire the vehicle and settles down for a night in the car, Leah first leaves a message worrying about him and then a more irate one saying he’d better have an explanation.

Tane arrives home and sees the knife through the AVO. Heading out back and calling out for Perri, he first finds the discarded manaia and then someone lying face down in the water. From behind him, Perri, who is sat up against a wall, says he didn’t mean to do it and has killed his dad.
