Extended Summary

Harper and Tane are chatting to Perri as they walk near the beach and he notes his father hasn’t been in touch so maybe the AVO has worked. They run into Dana, who asks them how they feel about a gender reveal party, since Xander already thinks they’re having one. Perri is bemused at the concept, thinking people choose their own genders nowadays. Tane says they’ll think about it and Dana says they can tell her yes after her shift.

Justin is driving Claudia, who has just had her cast removed but says the doctor told her it’ll still take a few weeks to heal. Justin ignores a call from Leah as Claudia announces a client has just bought a new house and she needs to go and assess it. Justin is thrown, since he thought he was taking her home, but agrees.

Leah gives up on trying to phone Justin and encounters Theo, telling him about the supposed dinner at Salt for the anniversary of their engagement. Theo suggests Salt is a decoy and Justin’s organising something else. Leah suggests that’s why he’s not at the garage but Theo’s response leads her to realise he knows something.

At the hospital, Bree is on the phone to Remi and lies that she’s not working but waiting for her counsellor. She is neatly arranging pens and tidying files as she speaks. Dana comes along and she and Bree exchange stilted greetings. Levi also appears and Dana asks if he’s worked with Bree lately. Levi says he’s not been around much.

Leah and Theo are arriving home and Theo has filled Leah in on Justin driving Claudia. Leah is annoyed, thinking Claudia is taking advantage and not happy Justin has lied to her. Theo tries to point out that Justin is fixing a problem he created. Leah is determined to confront Claudia and end it and demands her phone number. Theo says he can’t just give out a client’s number so Leah says she’ll get it herself.

Harper, Tane and Perri are walking by the beach. Tane wants the baby’s gender to be a surprise. Harper suggests it might be good to know for practical reasons like clothes, but can also see why it being a surprise would be a good thing. Alf emerges from the surf club and sinks to the ground, clutching his chest. Tane and Perri run over while Harper phones for an ambulance.

Dana settles Alf at the hospital. Levi comes along and Dana explains the situation: They’ve paged Bree but she isn’t there yet. Levi tries to give instructions to the nurses but Bree appears and sends him away, despite him pointing out Alf’s a cat 2 chest pain patient, saying he’ll be paged if needed. Marilyn appears, having been called by Harper, and Levi says Bree is looking after Alf.

Justin and Claudia arrive at a remote cabin. Justin notes there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the place. Claudia offers to show him inside but Justin wants to call Leah…only to find there’s no reception. He asks Claudia not to be too long.

Theo is on the phone to Justin near the surf club, admitting he messed up. Perri appears and tells him about Alf, but notes Alf thought they were overreacting. They arrange to meet for a beer later. Perri carries on and runs into Carl, who says he’s there to make him an offer. Meanwhile, Bree receives Alf back from the x-ray. Levi is watching from a distance. Marilyn wants to call Roo and Martha but Alf refuses. Bree makes many attempts to fit Alf’s cuff. Dana offers to do it but Bree snaps that she can do it. Dana goes to chase up the results, assuring Levi that everyhing’s okay.

Harper and Tane arrive at the surf club. Harper gets off a call with Dana and says Alf’s test results aren’t back but he’s sitting up in bed telling people not to fuss. Tane texts Perri with the update. He tells Harper they’ll do the gender reveal party if it makes her happy. She agrees. Meanwhile, Carl drags Perri to his car. Perri notices Carl’s packed all his stuff. Carl says he’s going up north and doesn’t want Perri to come with him but knows of a couple who’ve left their house empty for a couple of weeks and wants Perri to rob it while he keeps lookout. Perri refuses. Carl goes to hit him but stops as a couple of young women come past. He says they’re not done.

Outside the surf club, Tane and Harper tell Dana they’re agreeing to the party. Perri joins them and says everything’s okay. They wonder how it’ll be done and Dana says she’ll get Harper to do a scan and then keep it secret until the reveal, which Harper and Tane both doubt she’s capable of. She wonders if they want a cake or a balloon.

At the Diner, Theo checks with Leah that everything’s all right. Leah has heard about Alf but Marilyn told her not to come to the hospital. She got Claudia’s number from the garage but hasn’t been able to get hold of either Justin or Claudia. She rang Claudia’s landline number looking for her and spoke to her husband, who insisted on seeing her in person. Theo decides to stick around in case he’s an axe murderer.

Claudia is measuring door frames at the cabin. Justin notes her arm seems to be better but she says it’ll take her time to rebuild her strength. Justin is surprised she doesn’t seem happy to be getting her life back: He knows things are hard with her husband but says they won’t be fighting about him picking her up anymore. He is keen to get back to Leah so Claudia suggests he help her.

Leah has met Eric at the Diner, with Theo sat at the next table. Leah says Claudia is taking advantage of Justin. Eric says they’re having an affair. Theo insists that’s not true and Justin’s just driving her about. Eric dismisses him as naïve, saying Claudia has done this before, he knows the signs and he’s kicked her out. Leah and Theo are both bewildered.

Marillyn and Bree are by Alf’s side: The chest pain has gone and the x-ray was clear but they’re waiting on other test results. Marilyn notices Alf’s nose is bleeding. Bree starts consulting the chart as an alarm goes off and Alf starts clutching his chest. Bree looks spaced out as a nurse tries to give her medication. Meanwhile, Justin has finished the measuring. Claudia tries to come up with something else but he says everything on her list is done. She winces putting her coat on and Justin helps her with the sleeve. Claudia kisses him and Justin asks what she’s doing.

Alf is taken to the intensive care unit. Theresa asks Bree if she wants her to give him a stat beta blocker or GTN. Bree simply asks for magnesium nitrate. Marilyn protests that Alf’s getting worse and Bree says they’re waiting. Theresa says they need to do something and Bree tells her to get out. She takes the syringe off her as she leaves but simply stands there with it as Alf writhes in pain.
