Dana is sister of the year. Cash makes a difficult choice.
Extended Summary
Xander and Dana meet with Harper by the beach. Xander says he’ll leave them to it. When he mentions Tane, Harper realises he knows. They promise her he won’t say anything. Harper tells Dana she has her first ultrasound and was going to go on her own but now doesn’t want to. Dana is happy to go with her. Later, the two of them are at the hospital. Harper laments that she never planned this. The doctor comes in and wonders if Dana is the mother. Dana says she’s the cool auntie and the dad can’t be there.
Tane joins Cash and Eden by Felicity’s side and says he’s there to say goodbye. Cash continues to insist that she’s going to wake up. Tane recalls that the first time he saw Felicity she was dancing on the bar at a night club. Both he and Eden say that that’s how they want to remember her. Cash says he’s not ready. Later, Bree has come in and introduces them to another doctor, Tom. She asks if Felicity ever spoke to them about organ donation. Cash and Tane both say no. Tane says he’s not next of kin anymore. Cash asks what would happen if he consented.
Harper and Dana watch the ultrasound and are both enthralled. Dana says it looks just like Harper, while the doctor takes measurements. Later, the two of them are walking in a park, looking at the ultrasound photo. Dana asks Harper when she’s going to tell Tane but Harper still wants to put it off, saying she’s got six months. Dana says she’ll start showing and Tane will want to know. Harper asks for a minute to enjoy it.
Bree says Felicity would be treated with the same respect as any other patient and explains how there are people that have been on the waiting list for years and Felicity might be a suitable donor. Eden says she likes the idea of Felicity’s heart living on in someone that can dance. Cash says someone else might have their sister and Bree says it could save seven people. Cash agrees.
Later, Cash signs the forms. A crowd including Remi and Bree are waiting outside as Felicity is wheeled towards the lift, with Cash, Eden and Tane following. Eden tells Felicity she didn’t expect to do this until they were old and grey and Felicity would have been the best sister-in-law. Tane says she changed his life for the better. Cash says he doesn’t know what to say but eventually says he loves her and goodbye.
Shortly after, Cash, Eden, Tane and Remi are waiting in Felicity’s old room. Eden tries to talk to Cash about what happened but he just wants to wait for Felicity to come back. Bree appears and says she’ll be there soon. Eden goes to get a drink and Remi goes with her. Eden is worried how Cash hasn’t eaten, saying he didn’t touch the hamper that the Diner sent. Remi asks how she is and Eden tearfully says she can’t believe Flick has gone and she was supposed to be her maid of honour.
Harper and Dana arrive at Salt. Harper dreams of writing a diary about the experience. Dana thinks she’ll soon be up all night with a sleepless baby. Xander comes over and they show him the ultrasound photo. Harper heads off to the bathroom. Dana tells Xander about Harper not telling Tane. Xander tells her Cash has agreed to turn off the life support.
At the hospital, Cash, Tane and Eden are standing around Felicity’s body. Tane takes her hand for a moment then leaves. Eden asks Cash if he wants a moment alone and he agrees. Cash places a necklace around Felicity and says she’s back with their parents now like she always wanted.
Cash and Eden arrive back at the Newman house. Eden tries offering Cash something to eat. Cash silently goes and lays down with his back to her. Eden lies next to him. Meanwhile, Tane performs a Maori ritual behind the farm house. Perri watches from a distance.
