Extended Summary

On the balcony at Salt, Bree suggests to Dana that it’s not unusual for a terminally ill patient to not want to see another doctor. Dana notes they don’t know what Bronte has or what this trial is but knows there’s information on the crowdfunding page. Xander joins them and gives Dana a kiss long enough to make Bree ask if she should find another table. Dana explains her concerns, wondering how much they know about Bronte. Xander replies that she’s ill and she’s brave.

At the beach house, Bronte argues against Irene’s plan to sue her. Irene says it’s not really her money, the insurance will pay out. She says that the other bloke has asked for $50,000 so she should do the same. She adds that Bronte shouldn’t let anyone know she encouraged her. Dana returns and is aghast at the idea. Irene says it’s her idea and it’s between them.

Outside the Lyrik house, Cash tells Remi about Eden considering leaving town. Eden emerges and Remi leaves her and Cash to talk. Cash admits he’s terrified about what she said. Eden says she’s sorry she said that and she does trust him. Cash asks how they’re going to work it out. At Salt, Xander tries to chat to Felicity about the crowdfunding page but she isn’t in the mood and says to blame Eden. Remi turns up and Felicity attempts to indirectly asks how Eden is. Remi suggests she go and talk to her. He runs into Bree when she appears from the balcony. Bree suggests they go for a walk and Remi agrees to get his coffee to go.

Bronte sits quietly as Irene dismisses Dana’s concerns. John and Roo turn up, with John having just got out of hospital. He gives Dana some flowers to thank her for keeping him company. Irene introduces Bronte and says she was ill too. John asks what her symptoms were, supplying headaches and dizziness as she hesitates. Dana asks if John’s going to sue Irene. Irene jumps in to say some of the patrons are asking for compensation.

Near the beach, Bree asks Remi if Nelson was there. Remi says thousands of people were but he only really spoke to Cash. Bree wonders why it’s so hard between them and Remi suggests it’s the new them. Dana appears and asks Bree if she’s had a chance to look into the clinical trial yet because she needs to discuss something with her. Remi excuses himself.

At Salt, Xander gets Felicity a coffee and offers to talk. She admits she didn’t tell Eden that she’d worked things out with Mack. She adds that Eden could win a medal for holding a grudge before noting she can’t live without her. She grabs her bag and leaves without a word. Xander says to empty space that he’ll look after the bar.

Cash suggests to Eden that they go for a walk and that she talk to Felicity, who he doesn’t feel was actually trying to attack her. Eden doesn’t want to talk about it but Cash does, recalling how she said her world was small through not being able to go to Salt or to his but says she’s made it that way, wondering who she’s really punishing. Eden walks round the front and sees Felicity coming up the road. They slowly walk towards each other and decide they need to talk.

Roo finds John at the surf club and he announces he called Maritime and learned the container was washed off a ship by a big wave. He admits it’s underwhelming but is pleased to have solved the mystery. Quick to change the subject, Roo says Ryder has got a promotion and can take someone with him on his next trip. He’s invited her but she doesn’t think she can go, given her fostering application (John says it could take months or years) and Alf being away. Nearby, Dana shows Bree that the link to the trial on the crowdfunding page goes to an error message and says she can’t find any information on the hospital. Bree dismisses it as a technical glitch on the hospital website before being called into an emergency at work. Xander comes down and Dana says she was just making a donation.

Dana heads home where Bronte is on her own while Irene is discussing the insurance claim with Leah. Dana tells her about the link not working and how she doesn’t know the name of the trial or the disease. Pressing the point and bringing up Bronte refusing Bree’s help, she says she doesn’t think Bronte’s sick at all. Bronte, who has been coughing throughout the conversation, goes to get water.

Eden and Felicity chat out the back of the Lyrik house. Eden apologises for judging Felicity and Felicity apologises for not being honest. She says Mackenzie and Levi are actually good together. Eden says she’ll never be friends with Mackenzie or forgive Levi but doesn’t want it to come between their friendship. They agree to never fight again and hug.

Bronte asks Dana why she’d pretend to be this sick. Dana points out she has a crowdfunding page and is suing Irene, saying it’s all about money. Bronte claims she needs to be sick and runs to the bathroom. Dana calls out that she knows what vomiting really sounds like. Irene arrives back and tells her to stop, running to Bronte in concern.

Cash and Remi are coming up from the beach and wonder how Felicity and Eden are doing. John approaches them and says he hasn’t spoken to Cash in a while, but then he has been in hospital. Cash cuts the conversation short as Felicity and Eden appear, noting they’re both smiling and there’s no sign of physical damage. Eden says she’s okay staying over at his now.

Bronte tells Irene one minute Dana was asking about donating, then she started saying awful things. She indicates she’s thinking of leaving. Irene says there’s something she’s got to do. After she’s gone, Bronte calls someone saying the money’s coming but she’ll have to lie low for a bit.

Dana is in a park area, trying to call Harper. Irene storms up and asks why Dana said all those things. Dana insists Bronte’s making it up. Irene asks why she would and Dana says she gets sympathy, a place to stay and money. Irene insists she met her in hospital. Dana says Irene’s too trusting and has invited a stranger into her home. Irene points out that she did the same for Harper and Dana. She says she can read people: It’s her money and her business, she can give it to whoever she wants, and Dana had better get on board.

Later, at the Diner, Irene tells Roo and John about Dana’s behaviour. Roo asks how well she knows Bronte and Irene says she knows she needs help. After she’s gone, Roo questions John, who says Dana’s not malicious but wonders if her upbringing means she’s jealous of the attention Irene’s giving Bronte. However, he also feels it doesn’t fit with the Dana he knows.

Dana heads into Salt and tells Xander that Irene’s blinded by the Bronte thing. Xander isn’t impressed and Dana wonders why he’s being so dismissive of her. She says she needs his help but Xander says he’s with Irene.
