Extended Summary
Dana and Bree are walking by the surf club, commenting on finally being out in the fresh air. Dana notes that Irene wants her to get to know Bronte. They run into Cash and Remi, who have just come back from the funeral and are grateful to have gone. At the Lyrik house, Kirby tells Eden that as soon as Remi comes home they’ll have to have a house meeting since the rent’s overdue. Eden warns her that Remi might not be in the right frame of mind for that. Cash and Remi turn up and Eden wonders if Cash has seen Felicity yet.
Cash goes to see Felicity round the back of the Newman house. He says Felicity was right that going to the funeral helped, then asks what happened with Eden, who says she’s not coming to the house anymore. Felicity says she messed up and didn’t think this would be the result of making peace with Mackenzie. At the beach house, Irene looks on as Dana questions Bronte about her background. Bronte says she comes from inland up north and doesn’t really have any family, asking not to talk about it. Dana asks about Canada. Bronte says they’ve raised nearly $4000 and credits Harper with helping out. She tries to go for a walk on her own but Irene offers her Dana as a tour guide and Dana happily agrees.
Remi tells Eden that Felicity didn’t mean to hurt her and Eden suggests they stick to talking about the house. Kirby says they can keep using the money they put aside for the album but it’ll run out eventually and her work at the board shop will only go so far. After an awkward pause, she says she can’t do it on her own. Remi attempts to chance the subject back to Eden and Flick again before Kirby says both Eden and Remi need to get jobs.
Across the road, Cash says Felicity can still talk to Eden. Felicity says Cash doesn’t get it. Cash says Eden sees Mackenzie as an extension of Levi’s betrayal. Felicity points out she has to work with Mackenzie and she’s exhausted trying to keep the peace. Cash wants her to sort it out. Felicity says if Eden has something to say, she can say it to her face. She walks off, angry.
Eden checks for jobs and says the only place that needs staff is Yabbie Creek RSL. Remi suggests it might be fun and they need somewhere to drink other than Salt but Eden isn’t keen. Felicity turns up with Cash to hear Eden saying she chose Mackenzie over her. Felicity says she offered her a job, which is news to Remi and Kirby. She says she knew Eden would blow it out of proportion. Eden accuses her of going over to the dark side. Felicity calls her immature, which Eden throws back at her. Felicity says Eden holds everyone to a higher standard than herself, and if she’s this quick to throw away their friendship, then maybe they were never friends.
Dana and Bronte are walking in a park. Dana tries quizzing Bronte about the Canada trial and Bronte says she doesn’t understand the medical jargon. Dana says not to let her questions stop them being friends and Bronte says she might not have that long. They run into Bree, who is introduced to Bronte. They explain Bree is a doctor and Xander’s flatmate, and Xander is Dana’s boyfriend. Bronte says she feels ill and wants to go back on her own. Dana convinces her they should go to the Diner and have a rest with Irene.
Irene is finishing a phone call with someone as Dana and Bronte turn up. She explains a bloke that fell ill after coming into the Diner is suing them and wants $50,000 compensation. She says she’ll have to hope the insurance covers it. Dana suggests calling her solicitor. Irene agrees but says she needs to call Leah and the insurance company first. Bronte reassures her the insurance will cover it and says she’s going to go and have a lie down. In fact, she goes down the beach and calls someone, saying she was thinking of pulling the plug but something else has come up and it’s going to be big.
Eden is sat staring at her phone. Kirby suggests going for a walk or a game of pool without success. Remi takes over and Eden says she doesn’t want to fight with Flick but is sick of people lying to her and doesn’t know who to trust anymore. Not far away, Felicity is leaving the house and shrugging off Cash’s attempts to talk to her, saying she can’t help it if Eden wants to hold a grudge and accusing Cash of sitting on the fence. She heads off to work, ignoring Remi as he turns up. Remi drily suggests to Cash that they move before accepting Felicity and Eden didn’t give up on them so they have to do the same.
Irene and Dana are setting the table for dinner, discussing the insurance company’s response. Bronte comes downstairs, saying she just got some test results and there was benzine in her blood. Irene is aghast that she got sick from the Diner too. Dana is confused, asking if she went to the hospital. Bronte says her specialist got her to have some bloods done and he said it’s made things worse. Irene thinks it’s the same as John.
At Salt, Bree tries to question Kirby about Remi. Kirby says she’s not really spoken to him about the funeral since there’s been other things to worry about. Felicity hands over pizzas in a bad mood, saying she’s one of them. Kirby leaves as Dana turns up and tells Bree what Bronte said. Bree notes she doesn’t know Bronte’s exact condition but agrees that while benzine would make her sick, it wouldn’t speed things up. She offers to come and talk to her.
Irene is tending to Bronte who says she feels unwell all the time but thinks it started before Irene went to the motel and suggests it’s why she fainted with Xander. Dana and Bree turn up and Bree repeats that she doesn’t think the benzine poisoning would speed things up. She offers to go through the results with Bronte. Bronte says she doesn’t have them on her and politely declines another opinion before heading up to bed.
Kirby is dishing out the pizza to Eden, saying it’ll be their last takeaway in a while. Cash and Remi turn up and Remi insists he and Kirby eat outside. Cash tells Eden that Remi mentioned what she said and tells her she can trust him. Eden says she’s got no job, no band, no best friend, can’t leave the house without bumping into Mackenzie and Levi and now can’t even go to Cash’s place. She’s not sure why she’s in the Bay.
Bronte comes downstairs as Irene and Dana are clearing up after eating. Dana tells her that everyone contaminated has been told to rest. Irene tells Bronte the insurance will cover the cost if they get the right information. Bronte gets an alert of a $100 donation, taking it over $5000, but says it’s not enough and wishes she had insurance. She apologises and goes up to bed. Next morning, Dana meets Bree on the beach after a surf. She asks her opinion of Bronte, wondering why she’d be desperate enough to fly around the world for a clinical trial but refuse help from a doctor who’s right there.
Irene greets Bronte when she comes downstairs and sits her down, saying she’s been worrying about her. She says she wants Bronte to sue her.
