Extended Summary

Felicity and Eden are sitting on the side of the pool in the Newmans’ back garden. Eden has had a phone call from Cash, who decided to stay overnight after the funeral. He was drunk at the time but she’s deduced that he made up with Remi and he’s glad he went to the funeral. Felicity has to head into work and suggests Eden come along and keep her company. Eden isn’t keen, despite Felicity assuring her Mackenzie won’t be there. Felicity says to let her know if she changes her mind. After she’s gone, Eden looks up jobs on her phone.

Irene and Bronte chat about her losing it in front of Xander with Irene reassuring her. Harper comes home and they explain about Bronte collapsing while Xander was filming her. Harper asks if she’s been to hospital. Bronte says it’s part of her illness and something she has to live with for as long as she’s living. Harper asks to see the video as Irene tries to keep Bronte’s spirits up.

Eden gets a phone call from Cash and asks when he’ll be home. She’s disappointed to learn it won’t be until the afternoon. At Salt, Levi turns up to see Mackenzie, wondering why she’s there on her day off. Mackenzie says she got called in and she didn’t want to disturb him. Levi tries to get her to go for a walk with him. Felicity turns up and also wonders why Mackenzie’s there. Mackenzie says a waiter called in sick, vaguely stating it was “the new guy” before ducking out of the conversation. Eden turns up but turns to leave when she sees Mackenzie and Levi. Felicity assures her she didn’t know they were going to be there. Eden decides to go anyway.

Irene is concerned to hear from Harper how slow things are at the Diner. Even though Leah has said she’ll handle it, Irene decides to head in and goes to the bathroom to get ready. Bronte checks with Harper that the business will recover. Harper tries to convince Bronte to post the video but Bronte says it wouldn’t feel right. She seems more interested when Harper offers to do the video for her.

Mackenzie tries to get Felicity to stay but Felicity says she has to check on Eden and advises Mackenzie to talk to Levi, who’s obviously hanging around to chat to her. Levi tries asking Mackenzie why she’s been avoiding him then gives up and goes to leave. Mackenzie tells him about seeing him with the patient at the hospital. Levi says he was doing his job but Mackenzie says he wasn’t the patient’s doctor. She points out that it’s exactly how they started. Levi walks out, saying he doesn’t know how to respond to that.

Leah is on the phone at the Diner, checking in with Marilyn. Irene turns up and finds the place nearly empty. Leah admits they’ve only had three customers all morning. Irene hopes Justin and Theo, who are sat at a table, weren’t two of them. Justin says they’re just there for support and drags Theo out. Irene, who says she’s going to visit John later, gets an alert on the crowdfunding page and ends up donating $1000 herself. Down by the beach, Justin explains to Theo that they need to get on social media to combat the Coastal News article. Theo isn’t sure how they can get people back to the Diner but agrees to use his and Lyrik’s socials.

Felicity tracks Eden down at home and insists she wasn’t trying to ambush her with Mackenzie. Eden says Mackenzie thinks she can just turn up whenever she wants. Felicity says she actually can. Eden also complains about Levi sitting there like he belongs. Felicity says she hates how angry this makes Eden. Eden says that with Cash and Remi, and being unemployed with the rent due, she has other things to worry about. Felicity suggests they go for a walk. Later, Felicity tries to get Eden to come to Salt for a free coffee or breakfast. Eden suspects she’s only saying it because she’s broke. Felicity offers her a job, saying she can make sure she and Mackenzie don’t work together. Eden isn’t keen.

Mackenzie is walking on the beach and gets a text from Levi asking to talk. She runs into Harper and Bronte, and Harper introduces the other two to each other. Bronte walks on as Harper asks Mackenzie about Tane; neither of them have heard from him. Harper explains about Bronte’s illness and the crowdfunder. Mackenzie says she remembers what it’s like to be that scared.

Mackenzie heads back to the farm house and apologises to Levi, who says he can’t spend the rest of his life being tested by her. Mackenzie talks about meeting Bronte and how it’s made her feel grateful for what she’s got. Levi promises he won’t hurt her. Mackenzie says her whole life men have been making her promises they can’t keep. Levi says he’s not those men and not to let the past take away what they’ve got.

Felicity accompanies Eden back to the Lyrik house and tries to convince her to seriously think about the job offer. Eden doesn’t want her to talk to Mackenzie about it but does agree to think about it. At the Diner, Irene and Leah are now rushed off their feet. Justin and Theo turn up and Theo goes to sit with some young women who call out to him by name. Bronte appears and thanks Irene for her donation, being introduced to Leah and Justin. Leah takes Justin aside and realises he used Theo’s socials to get people back there. She wants to donate to Bronte. Justin agrees.

Mackenzie arrives back at Salt and tells Felicity she’s sorted things with Levi. She asks about Salt donating to Bronte’s fund. Felicity agrees but wonders about Mackenzie’s reasons. Mackenzie says she’s thinking about how everyone raised money for heart treatment because of her. Felicity gives her a hug. Eden comes in and looks shocked. At the beach house, Bronte is monitoring the donations, telling Irene and Harper she’s got $500 from Justin and Leah and $2000 from Salt. Harper explains the latter is the restaurant run by Mackenzie. Irene says she’s in the right place for helping people in need.

Felicity arrives home to find Eden leaving the house with a bag. She says it’s some stuff she left in Cash’s room and she can’t be around Felicity right now. Felicity is bewildered. Eden explains she saw her hugging Mackenzie and, while she understands her having to keep the peace, she thought their friendship was more important. She says she respects Felicity’s choice and needs Felicity to respect hers.
