Extended Summary

Felicity finds Mali setting up a class near the beach and wonders if Tane has reopened the gym. Mali explains that he and Roo have taken over the running. Felicity asks about Tane but Mali isn’t sure about whether or not he should tell her and just gives vague information. At the hospital, Rose chides Tane for starting a fight with Peter at the hospital in front of Maia. Tane thinks Peter deserved it but Rose cautions him, telling him to not get into any more trouble.

At the Diner, Irene finds Dana mulling over the situation with Tane: She hasn’t seen him since the article came out but knows Harper spoke to him and told him it was her fault. Despite Irene advising her to steer clear, she wants to go and apologise. Nearby, Theo asks Valerie why she orders extra bacon and then leaves it. Valerie says it’s because he eats it. He takes her hand but she pulls away, saying not in public, even though he thinks Leah and Justin won’t care. They approach Irene and say they haven’t seen Leah since she came back from the clinic. Valerie tries to pay with her card but it doesn’t seem to work. Theo steps in, paying with his phone.

At the Morgan house, Justin suggests getting married at a barn in the middle of nowhere. Leah thinks something simple but closer by. Theo and Valerie arrive back in time for them to hear Leah saying they’re getting married in a month. Valerie asks Leah about the clinic. Leah says they have a lot to talk about and sends Justin and Theo surfing.

At Salt, Xander tells Felicity he spoke to Mackenzie and she said all the right things but wasn’t listening… like Felicity now. Felicity says Mackenzie gave her a vague text about going away without saying how long for. Kirby appears and says Remi’s done the same to her, leaving a voicemail saying he was going to his parents and then nothing else. Felicity notices the newspaper article and rushes off.

Near the beach, Justin asks Theo about him spending a lot of time with Valerie. Theo says they live together but admits he’s glad she’s around. They run into Kirby, and Justin tells her about the wedding, meaning Lyrik have a gig to prepare for, although they’ll still be invited as guests. He insists he’s going to send out paper invitations despite Theo saying he could just e-mail everyone. Kirby agrees to talk about the music now.

Dana goes to see Tane and Maia at the hospital. Tane greets her rather coldly. Dana says she’s sorry about putting her foot in it with the journalist. Tane says he has nothing to say to her. Dana leaves, upset. Felicity, who has arrived during the exchange, looks at Tane bewildered. Later, Tane acknowledges he was hard on Dana. They discuss the fact no emergency foster carer has been found for Maia. Felicity admits she looked into doing it herself. Tane says she doesn’t have to do that for him anymore and suggests she leaves.

Justin, Theo and Kirby walk through a park area, discussing the importance of the music for the bride’s entrance and the first dance. Justin says he’s thinking of singing something himself. He also mentions that Remi took the bike to go to his parents’ and he’s not sure what’s going on with Bree. He gets a call from Tori and steps aside to take it. Kirby says it’s good to see Theo clear-headed. Theo isn’t happy about the comment and says apart from Lyrik, they’re nothing to do with each other.

Back at the Morgan house, Leah talks to Valerie about being back at the clinic and asks why Valerie didn’t tell her she discharged herself: The counsellors were asking after her and think she might need to go back. Valerie says she was a voluntary patient and had been there eight months, insisting she was right to leave. Leah notes she doesn’t really know why Valerie was in the clinic. Valerie says being with Leah and Justin like a real family makes her feel safe. Leah says she’s there if Valerie needs someone to talk to.

At Salt, Xander advises Dana to give Tane space until he’s ready to talk. Rose and Mali appear and Rose agrees. She goes to take a call from her sergeant. Felicity appears and says she’s going to leave Tane to Mali from now on. Rose comes back looking unhappy. At the hospital, Tane is pacing, looking tired. Rose appears and asks Tane to come with her. Peter complained to the sergeant about a stranger with no connection to the baby being allowed to stay with her. As a result, it’s been decided only health and social workers should be with the baby from now on. Tane has one chance to leave of his own accord before being issued with an AVO. Rose gives him a moment to say goodbye before he leaves.

Leah talks with Valerie about how being at the clinic allowed her to reset. Valerie insists she doesn’t need that. Leah says the counsellors asked her to encourage her to come back. Later, Leah asks Valerie if she and Theo are really just friends. Valerie says she’ll be his plus one at the wedding. Leah says Valerie will be invited and she wants help with the dress. Justin and Theo come back. Theo can tell Valerie is emotional so suggests Leah and Justin go out for dinner, which they agree to. He comforts Valerie.

At the surf club, Kirby tells Mali that Remi sent her a text saying he’s alive and doesn’t know when he’ll be back. Mali and Dana discuss how Harper hasn’t been able to find a foster carer, leaving Tane as the only one looking after Maia. Rose arrives and tells them about Tane being banned from the hospital. Tane walks past them into the gym without a word. Rose says community policing is fine until you have to play bad cop with your friends; Mali comforts her. Dana follows Tane into the gym and says she never meant to tell the journalist about him and Maia and knows he was taking care of her. Tane says thanks to her he can’t do that and Maia’s on her own.

At Salt, Leah and Justin discuss the wedding. Xander chimes in that he’s happy to organise the wedding even if it’s not at Salt, saying they’re basically family. Leah admits to Justin that the counsellors are worried about Valerie. She mentions what she said about feeling safe with them. Justin worries it’s a bit full-on but Leah compares it to taking Andrew in. Dana comes in upset and Felicity lets Xander off to see to her.

Later, out on the balcony, Dana says she can’t even apologise right and thinks she’s a bad person, recalling Irene went to court and Cash got suspended because of her. She says she thought Peter liked her and only went out with him so Xander wouldn’t think she was pining over him. She says Tane’s right that she’s ruined everything.

Theo asks Valerie if the clinic taught her anything to help with this. He suggests a walk or a night swim. Valerie asks him to get her a pill. Theo thinks this isn’t a good time to be taking one. Valerie says she thought he cared and asks why he won’t help her, before walking away.
