Felicity’s apology tour hits the Bay. Kirby’s lyrics give Justin comfort. Mackenzie fears for her health.

Extended Summary

Harper and Dana approach the surf club. Dana wants to go upstairs for a drink but Harper is still avoiding Felicity. Dana says that’s not fair…on her, since she wants a cocktail. They run into Alf who says John will be back tomorrow and that he took a leaf out of Dana’s book and spoke to Simon. His comment about drawing a line inspires Dana to convince Harper to come up with her.

Upstairs, Cash is nursing a beer and ignores an alert saying he has a message from Eden. Having realised Felicity isn’t there, Harper and Dana join him. Cash says he couldn’t get Felicity to apologise and Harper says that’s not his responsibility. She invites him to join them but he decides to go for a walk instead.

Tane is making Mackenzie a cup of tea. Mackenzie is disappointed with her meltdown and the fact it keeps happening. Tane points out she’s been through something massive and says she’ll get back to normal eventually, promising to be there for her like she was for him and reiterating that she’s family. At the Diner, Justin is telling Alf he should have realised something was wrong with Leah sooner. Alf points out she tried to hide it. Marilyn brings Justin his coffee and suggests he and Theo come over for dinner while Leah’s away. Justin says he’s got a lot on and Theo’s at his mum’s. Kirby comes in and tells Justin the band have got the residuals from the album downloads but he says not now. Kirby asks Marilyn what she did.

Felicity comments to Eden that she doesn’t like the idea of apologising to Harper; she’s not 100% sure something’s going on with Tane but she knows he likes her. She eventually concludes that apologising to Harper will make things easier on Cash, and notes she also needs to apologise to Mackenzie. Eden says she’s still going to hate Levi but won’t take it out on Cash. Felicity calls it baby steps.

Back at Salt, Dana reminds Harper that Cash has a girlfriend and a “scary” sister looking out for him. Harper says Felicity’s been through a lot but admits she didn’t like her yelling at her. She asks Dana about her job and Dana says she appears to have landed on her feet. Felicity appears and asks to talk to Harper.

Justin is sat at home, staring at Leah’s engagement ring. Kirby turns up, explaining Marilyn told her Leah was away so she rang Theo who told her everything. Justin lets her in and apologises for snapping. He suggests they talk about the band to take his mind off things. Later, they discuss her plans for more gigs. Kirby shows Justin her lyric book and a piece of paper falls out. Justin looks at it and Kirby admits it’s the song she and Theo were writing as a surprise for Justin and Leah’s wedding. Justin asks to keep it.

Down by the beach, Felicity tells Harper that she crossed a line and shouldn’t have had a go at her and Tane. Harper isn’t convinced she means it and stresses that she and Tane are just friends. Felicity says she is genuinely sorry for yelling at her and Harper acknowledges she got fired up as well before they awkwardly go their separate ways. Meanwhile, Cash arrives home just as Eden was about to text him. He says he’ll stay out of things with Levi and she says that she won’t dump her problems on him and then complain when he tries to help. Cash says he’s going to go away for a couple of days to give them space.

Tane is preparing to deal out some cards with Mackenzie, suggesting the loser does the chores for a week. Mackenzie suggests a game of Go Fish. Tane goes to answer the door: It’s Felicity, who explains she called the hospital and heard Mackenzie had come home. Tane says she’s resting and Felicity says she should have called first. At that point, Mackenzie appears and asks why Felicity’s there.

At the Diner, Marilyn reads Alf a letter she’s written to Leah, promising to look after Justin, although she’s not expecting a reply. She asks Alf about him getting John his job back and Alf says he didn’t like the idea of one man stepping on another to make himself look good.

Tane checks that Mackenzie doesn’t want him to stay before sitting a few feet away from her and Felicity. Felicity apologises for how she acted, saying she saw red about Mackenzie letting Tane stay but knows she’s been a good friend to both of them. Mackenzie says Felicity didn’t give her a tear on her heart. As Felicity goes to leave, she asks Tane if she can have the wedding photo she gave him back. There seems to be a charged moment between them as Tane hands it over, before she thanks him and goes.

Felicity heads home and replaces the photo, telling Cash about apologising to Harper and Mackenzie. She also offers to go to the agent in the morning and sign the lease. After she’s gone to bed, Eden tells Cash she’ll see him when he gets back from wherever he goes. Cash decides not to go after all.

Justin is lying awake in bed and touches the side where Leah usually sleeps, before taking out the song lyrics. Mackenzie is sitting up and does a search on her phone on how likely a second heart attack is after SCAD. She isn’t reassured when she reads that 1 in 5 people have a recurrence and 11% of them are in the first two years.

Next morning, Justin arrives round the back of the Lyrik house with his guitar. He tells Kirby he’s been going over the song and wants to finish it with her. Kirby isn’t sure but he says it’s not just about him and Leah, it’s about love, and he needs to do this. Kirby agrees. Meanwhile, Mackenzie is having breakfast when she starts feeling breathless and clutching her chest. She knocks on Tane’s door and tells him he needs to call an ambulance, before collapsing to the floor in pain.
