Felicity fumes over Tane and Harper. Justin’s foul mood is felt across the Bay. Roo takes on a new role.
Extended Summary
Tane is putting Harper through a boxing workout in a park area. When she stops for a drink, she comments on starting her new job tomorrow. Tane tries to get her back training again but she stops to talk about how excited she is. Tane suggests a jog so she can talk and exercise. Meanwhile, Mali, Xander, Rose and Kirby arrive at the Diner with the others teasing Rose for being a poor surfer: They all have the day off. Mali looks thoughtful and Rose tells him not to feel bad about leaving Alf to handle the surf club. Irene wonders if they want anything. Xander, Rose and Mali want breakfast to take upstairs. Kirby declines to join them, wanting to do band stuff.
John comes downstairs at the surf club and notices the juice bar being closed, complaining to Alf about it. After initially claiming there’s no-one to run it, Alf admits the fruit order wasn’t put in on time. He says they’re going to advertise for a new club manager which John says he’s not interested in. Felicity turns up with her box and asks John if he’s seen Tane. John snaps that of course he hasn’t, then softens slightly and says he hopes they sort things out.
Roo catches up to Irene in a park area and wonders if Leah’s working today (she isn’t), explaining a plan to put on an engagement dinner for her, girls only. John appears, complaining about the juice bar being closed and Alf advertising his post so fast, although he denies wanting his job back. After he’s gone, Irene comments that once the job’s filled he won’t get it back.
Justin finds a note from Leah saying she’s gone on the lighthouse walk. Kirby turns up, wanting to talk about Lyrik. She mentions writing with Theo again and putting the money towards the studio but says they still need another $4000. She talks about rehearsal schedules but Justin isn’t really listening, looking for his keys and needing to go to work. Kirby finds them for him and suggests she go with him to talk on the way.
At the Diner flat, Xander remarks that he’s turned his phone off so he doesn’t get called into work. Mali and Rose drop hints about having time off together but Xander doesn’t register them, asking if they want to watch a movie with him. Mali suggests he go and see Mackenzie, which he was planning to do later. Xander takes the hint and leaves.
Alf is on the phone at the surf club, asking someone to come in on their day off. Roo arrives and asks Alf to make her acting club manager, so she can stand aside for John when he wants it back. Alf agrees and says he’ll show her the ropes. Felicity is waiting by the gym with the box as Tane and Harper arrive back. Harper goes to shower and Felicity tells Tane they heard about the lease, asking to talk.
Later, Alf tells Roo she needs to hire an extra lifesaver as she isn’t qualified and keep the juice bar working. Felicity tells Tane she understands why he wanted to take his name off the lease and that’s not why she’s there. She gives him the box, saying it contains some of his things, and to let her know if he needs anything else. After Tane has gone, Roo says it’s nice to see them talking.
Justin and Kirby turn up at the garage with Kirby still talking about doing extra gigs or getting a studio on mates rates. Justin protests they normally have a band meeting for this. Kirby asks him for half an hour. Later, Justin is working under a car as Kirby continues to put ideas to him, suggesting contacting Mercedes to see if they can use the studio she set up again. She also offers to take over band admin while he’s working on wedding preparations and asks if they have a date for the honeymoon. This is enough to get Justin to end the conversation. Kirby turns down his offer of a lift, saying she’ll walk.
Mali and Rose emerge from the bedroom and find Xander there, saying he’s been back for ages. He comments on seeing Mackenzie and how strange it is seeing her so fragile. Mali says she’s lucky Xander was there. Kirby turns up, asking to spend time with them now her band plans have been cancelled. Later, Rose and Kirby are making plans to go out for a drink but Mali has a board shaping to do. They ask Xander but he doesn’t want to go to Salt in case he gets roped into working. They offer to go to Yabbie Creek but he still says no.
Felicity is on the balcony at Salt and she smiles as she sees Tane sit down below with the box. However, her smile disappears as she sees Harper join him. After a brief talk about his conversation with Felicity, Tane lets Harper stay while he looks through the box. He takes out the wedding photo and puts it face down, then shows Harper the korowai he wore at the wedding before pointing out his family on the photo.
Inside, Roo tells Alf she’s arranged someone to cover the juice bar and they at least have gelato. She talks to Felicity about the booking for the evening but Felicity breaks off when Tane and Harper come in. When Tane’s out of view, Felicity tells Harper to stay away from him. Harper tries to tell Felicity she’s got it wrong. Tane returns and Felicity berates him for sharing their memories with her. She and Harper tell each other to back off before Tane steers Felicity away.
Roo turns up at the Diner, still looking for Leah. Irene suggests she tries Justin. John comes in and Roo asks him about the surf club buggy’s service, explaining she’s the new manager. John protests that it’s nepotism and she’s underqualified. Irene and Roo explain it’s only until he wants it back. John insists he doesn’t want it back and tells Roo where the file with the vehicle details is. Irene tells him about Dana speaking to Banjo and suggests talking to Simon, which he thinks is a bad idea. Roo calls Justin at the garage but he only gives brief answers before hanging up.
Roo goes round to see Justin and he claims to be busy, mentioning Leah going on the lighthouse walk. She asks him to get Leah to Salt that evening for the engagement dinner. Justin tries to dissuade her, eventually admitting Leah’s not ready to marry him and has postponed the wedding.
Tane walks Felicity home and brushes aside her apology. She asks if Harper is “one of them”. Tane says she doesn’t get to ask that and he’s not her husband anymore. Later, he tracks down Harper to check on her and is surprised she’s worried about Felicity. Harper says she’s an experienced social worker and should know how to handle a situation like that. Tane thinks she did nothing wrong but Harper isn’t so sure.
