Extended Summary

Xander runs into Mali outside the surf club. Xander is on his way to visit Mackenzie. Mali has just seen her and reveals she’s worried. Mali also encounters Cash, who says things aren’t really all right and walks past him without breaking stride. Cash arrives home where Felicity shows him the eviction notice. It doesn’t explain anything and Felicity admits she threw the agent out but suspects it’s down to Tane. Cash stops her leaving and says he’ll look into it.

Xander arrives at the hospital but runs into Irene, who tells him that Mackenzie has just been taken up for a scan. Xander gets a text from Cash asking him to cover for Felicity at Salt and is frustrated that he didn’t get to see Mackenzie. At the surf club, Alf asks Mali to help him cover the long list of John’s duties. Alf will have to handle the lifesaving stuff outside so Mali agrees to cover the inside stuff including manning the juice bar. Xander passes through during their discussion, lamenting having to go back to work.

Irene and Marilyn compare notes at the Diner. Dana arrives and says she spoke to Banjo and he suggested they meet there for a coffee. She admits she didn’t actually get a chance to tell him it was about John. Marilyn is optimistic but Irene seems concerned. Moments later, Banjo turns up. Later, as Irene and Marilyn watch from a distance, Dana tells Banjo about how kind everyone was to her when she was on the run and that’s why she did the bronze medallion course. Banjo comments on them having the worst teacher ever and tells her about the complaint, saying he’s standing up against a toxic atmosphere. He then suggests they go for a walk or cocktails. Dana hurriedly summons Irene and Marilyn into the kitchen, saying Banjo thinks they’re on a date.

Cash gets off the phone and confirms to Felicity that it’s down to Tane: He rang the agent to cancel the lease but has paid up to the end of the month so they don’t have to leave straightaway. Felicity storms out, aiming to confront him. Cash follows and tries to talk her out of it. Felicity admits that she begged Tane not to give up on them last week and he didn’t say no, but now he’s done this. Cash convinces her not to go after him.

Mali is trying to run the juice bar while also talking on the phone to a surf lessons customer. Alf and Xander watch from a distance and Mali gets Xander to take over while he deals with one of his own customers. Later, Alf finds Mali still trying to get everything straight. Mali gets a call from Rose and tells her he isn’t able to meet her.

Dana goes back to Banjo and admits that this isn’t a date, explaining about John losing his teaching position and the surf club falling apart and hoping that Banjo will withdraw his complaint so he can get reinstated. Banjo walks out, seen by Irene and Marilyn. Dana follows him down to where he’s left his bike and apologises for the miscommunication, but tells him she does still want him to drop the complaint. Banjo tells her it’s not him that escalated the complaint but his dad and he’s already tried and failed to get him to back down.

Back home, Cash tells Felicity that the landlords are happy for them to take over the lease. However, he thinks it might be better for them to move somewhere for a fresh start. Felicity says living there with Tane has been the happiest time of her life and she is still hoping that he’ll walk back through the door. At the surf club, Mali pops in on Alf and says he can help out again tomorrow, since he’s taken the day off from the surf school. Alf replies that he’s got extra volunteers arranged to help out. After Mali’s gone, Dana turns up and explains about Banjo’s dad being behind the complaint. Alf already knew that but hoped Banjo would have some sway.

Next morning, Cash and Felicity are down by the beach. Felicity tells Cash that she still wants to stay on at the house. Cash isn’t happy that she’s refusing to give up on Tane but agrees to stand by her. At the Diner, Alf admits to Irene that he was up until late last night finishing off surf club business. He says he was hoping Dana would sort things out but now he has to replace John.

Felicity takes some family photos and places them in a box, then takes her wedding outfit and places that in the box as well, with a wedding photo on top.
