Extended Summary

Roo attempts to get details from Justin, who admits he isn’t sure if the wedding is going to happen. Roo says it’s either been postponed or cancelled. Justin says he knows which he hopes it is, but trying to get clarification from Leah will just upset her. Meanwhile, Leah arrives home from her walk. Theo is about to meet Kirby and Rose for drinks and tells her Justin’s probably still at work. Leah reacts irritably when her phone rings, saying Roo keeps trying to call her, and seems to agree with Theo’s suggestion to call her back later. Theo offers to stay with her but Leah tells him to go and have fun. After Theo has gone, Leah puts her phone down on the counter face down.

Tane and Harper are walking through a park area. Tane tries to tell Harper not to be too hard on herself but she still thinks she handled things badly. He reminds her she has a PT session booked in first thing in the morning before her first day at work. At the Diner, Roo has told Irene and Marilyn that the dinner’s off and they’ll let Leah decide when it’s the right time. Harper comes in and Roo checks she’s okay after her run in with Felicity. Marilyn says it’s not easy living in a small town with an ex. Roo thinks that doesn’t justify Felicity. Harper doesn’t want to stop being friends with Tane. Irene advises her to be careful.

At Salt, Kirby takes Rose’s phone and tells her not to spend the night texting Mali. Theo joins them and Kirby wonders about Justin not wanting to talk to her earlier. Rose goes to get a round in and Kirby chats to Theo about the song they’re writing for Justin and Leah. Not wanting to get into it, Theo says Rose needs a hand.

Leah puts her phone on charge. Roo comes to the door and asks if Leah got her calls. Leah says her battery died. Roo tries to get her to invite her in for a cup of tea and a chat but Leah claims she’s about to go to bed. Roo says she saw Justin. Leah realises he told her the wedding’s postponed and is annoyed that he;s been talking behind her back.

Justin is working in the office when Leah drives up, surprising him since she wasn’t meant to be driving. Leah accuses him of gossiping, saying he told her not to tell anyone about the wedding then did so himself. Justin explains he was trying to save her from being ambushed with a surprise engagement dinner, Leah doesn’t seem convinced.

Justin follows Leah home, trying to convince her they need to get help.with her sleep problems. Leah asks why he didn’t want her to tell anyone about the postponement. Justin admits he was hoping she’d change her mind. Leah shouts that she doesn’t ever want to marry him. She takes the ring off and storms off to her room.

Theo is trying to get a drunken Kirby and Rose to drink some water. They banter about album names (Kirby suggests Theo’s No Fun, Rose suggests Album Number Two) and the possibility of writing a whole lot of love songs. Theo doesn’t really seem into the conversation. Meanwhile, Leah is sat up in bed. She hears noises outside and then hears Justin calling out to her as he hovers outside the door and then leaves her alone. Leah breaths a sign of relief but still seems tense.

Next morning, Tane meets Harper outside the surf club and notices she isn’t dressed for a workout. Harper admits that after what happened with Felicity, she doesn’t think they should hang out. Tane reluctantly agrees and says he’ll find her another trainer. Meanwhile, Theo, Kirby and Rose are all asleep in the front room of the Lyrik house. Theo’s alarm goes off and wakes them all. Rose moans that she has a shift later and Theo says he needs to head home. Kirby suggests a band meeting later but Theo thinks Justin’s busy.

Leah gets up and finds Justin making breakfast, looking tense at seeing him using a butter knife. He tries to talk to her, pointing out she hasn’t slept properly in weeks. Theo arriving home interrupts them, saying he spent the night worrying about them and Leah’s clearly stressed and unhappy. Leah says she has to go to work. Theo notices the ring on the counter and Justin admits she called it off for good.

At the Diner, Harper is telling Irene she wants to be exactly five minutes early in order to make a good impression. Tane arrives and asks to talk to Harper. He tells her hanging out with her is the only thing that makes him happy at the moment and he doesn’t want Felicity to control his life.

Kirby has just finished making a big hangover cure breakfast for her and Rose and suggests they hang out on the beach after or watch movies together. Rose gets a text from Mali wanting to hang out and Kirby suggests she and Rose take a raincheck. Once she’s alone, she sits down and starts writing. At the Diner, Irene and Marilyn hope Harper knows what she’s doing while Roo thinks she should be able to see Tane. Harper tells Tane she has to go to work. Leah turns up and everyone asks how she is, with the question making her tense. After Irene and Marilyn have gone to the kitchen, Roo tells Leah she didn’t mean to throw Justin under the bus and he cares about her.

Leah turns up at the garage and hears Justin on the phone, apparently to the customer whose car she hit. She sees him twirling a spanner, when in fact he’s holding a pen, and hears him saying that she needs to be fixed and that the end is near. At the Diner, Marilyn approaches Roo with a suggestion of dates for the engagement dinner. Roo reminds her they’re waiting to hear from Leah, then realises she’s late for the surf club. Justin turns up looking for Leah and Irene tells him she went looking for him at the garage. Marilyn suggests she changed her mind. Justin wonders where she is.

Leah rushes home in a flustered state. She ignores a call from Justin, grabs a suitcase and begins frantically stuffing the contents of her drawers in there.
