Extended Summary

Xander approaches Mali outside the surf club and shows him the video of his dancing on Salt’s feed. Mali is aghast and tells him to take it down. Xander points out he didn’t put it up and Mali tells him to find out who did. Xander tells him that other people have asked him to perform at their hens. Mali sees Rose approaching and tells Xander to put the phone away. He goes over to Rose, who he hasn’t seen in days because of work, and claims things have been boring without her, suggesting they have dinner that night.

Back at the caravan park house, Roo tells Marilyn that Alf deserves a break. Marilyn thinks that’s a reason for her to stay. Theo has been trying to get away when Roo gestures to him with her crutch and announces he’s staying with her, so Marilyn can go. Theo follows Marilyn to the door and protests that he’s not the right person for the job. Marilyn agrees but tells him to keep an eye on Roo until she can work something out.

Bree runs into Kirby at the surf club and says she saw the invitations. Kirby asks after Remi. and Bree says he was at the studio last night because a local band asked him to play on their songs. Kirby is surprised but wonders if he’s changed his mind about coming to the launch; Bree doesn’t know. Kirby says to say hi from her.

Remi tries to get rid of a whiskey bottle as Bree arrives home, before saying he couldn’t sleep so sat up drinking. Bree asks about the session and Remi gives a rather matter of fact account of how the band played their songs and he came up with riffs. Bree passes on Kirby’s greeting. Remi doesn’t seem too pleased but says it’s fine.

At the Diner, Marilyn is on the phone trying to get someone official to check on Roo and learns it’ll have to be tomorrow. Kirby turns up and asks if Marilyn’s coming to her launch. Marilyn says she’d love to but has things on. She explains about her falling out with Roo and how she’s like family to her. Kirby understands. Back at the Lyrik house, Bree tries to get Remi to come out to Salt. Remi would rather stay in. Bree tries to ask him about the session but he says there’s not much more to tell and he’s just a gun for hire. He convinces her to let him cook pasta and open a bottle of wine, promising to do the dishes as well.

Rose and Mali are on the balcony at Salt and discuss their cocktails. Rose asks if Mali’s hung out with Xander much since she’s been busy. Mali says they saw each other but denies doing anything fun. While Rose is in the bathroom, Xander tells Mali he’s spoken to Ally, who posted the video, but tries to convince him to do another booking, saying he’ll pay him double. Mali says Xander didn’t pay him last time. Meanwhile, Theo brings Roo a drink and wonders about things being tense with Marilyn but Roo doesn’t feel like talking. Theo notices she’s in pain but she says it’s normal. She has her pain medication close at hand but asks for a glass of water. Once he’s out of earshot, Theo calls Marilyn.

Marilyn is on the phone at the Diner as Xander comes in and greets Kirby. She explains she was hanging out with Marilyn until she got the call. Marilyn announces she has to go and Kirby volunteers to close up, with Xander volunteering to help her. Kirby asks what Rose said about the video of Mali but it’s news to Xander that she’s even seen it. Outside somewhere, Mali rejects a call from Xander. Rose comments on him assuming he’s staying the night. She produces her phone and plays the video, saying he can stay if he does the dance.

Bree is dishing up dinner while Remi finishes a phone call: The band have asked him to play for them again and offered more money. Bree asks if he’s sure about it, mentioning Kirby was surprised. Remi snaps at her to not tell Kirby his business. Marilyn turns up and asks Bree to come and see Roo, explaining she’s in pain. Remi says it’s fine and he’s not hungry. Bree rather sharply says she doesn’t know how long she’ll be but Remi doesn’t rise to it. After they’ve gone, he starts back on the whiskey.

Theo brings Roo another cup of tea, even though she’s still on the last one. Marilyn and Bree turn up and Theo takes the opportunity to leave. Bree asks Roo if she can examine her and says she was only allowed home on the understanding that someone would be there to look after her. She says unless Roo lets Marilyn stay, she’s driving her back to the hospital. Roo agrees Marilyn can stay.

At the Diner flat, Mali tells Rose that he only did the dancing to help Xander out. Rose asks what happened after the video and he says he stopped dancing. Rose asks how he’d feel about her doing the dance for men, demonstrating. Mali says he’s fine with it now and they kiss. Meanwhile, Remi is finishing off the bottle of whiskey as Bree arrives home: He hasn’t eaten but the pasta’s in the fridge for her. He asks about Roo, and Bree says she’s helped with her pain. Remi has agreed to the session and calls the drink a celebration, although his demeanour suggests otherwise. He comments on Kirby having it all in front of her. Bree suggests they do something together tomorrow. Remi agrees, before heading off to bed.

Next morning, Marilyn greets Roo, saying she’s made breakfast and Leah dropped off some pastries. Roo thanks her for calling Bree and for staying, but says she’s placed an ad for a private nurse. Marilyn is shocked she wants to be looked after by a stranger. Roo says they’re a professional and she won’t need Marilyn’s help for much longer.

Xander and Kirby walk through a park area with Xander discussing his attempts to get Mali to dance again. Kirby invites him to the single launch but he’s busy at Salt, which leaves her dispirited. They see Remi and Bree approaching and Xander leaves. Remi is looking down. Kirby comes over and makes awkward conversation before saying it would mean a lot if he came to the launch. Remi snaps that it’s not his responsibility to make her feel better and she’ll have to live with her choices.

Xander approaches Mali at the surf club, saying he knows Rose has seen the dance. Mali asks why he didn’t tell him and Xander points out Mali didn’t answer. Mali admits Rose was cool with it. Xander says in that case, there’s no reason he can’t do it again. Mali protests that he only did it to help out a mate. Xander says he’ll text him the time. Mali chases after him upstairs.

Remi and Bree arrive home. Bree tries to talk about what happened but Remi refuses and blames her for making him go out. He tells her it was her idea to move in, so if she doesn’t like how he lives his life, she can leave.
