Have Eden and Remi given up on Kirby? Roo gives Marilyn false hope.

Extended Summary

Theo and Kirby run into each other on the beach. Theo admires Kirby’s new board and notes he’s heard about her hot new single, Open Door. Kirby says the launch will be soon. Theo asks about her photo shoot. Kirby says he’ll see the results shortly and admits she wasn’t keen on the style at first, but learned to trust Forrest and his team.

Back at the Lyrik house, Remi points out that lots of people write songs about betrayal but Justin notes it’s clearly about Kirby. Eden says they’ve been back and forth on using it and Remi says they haven’t been able to write any other songs. Justin thinks that if they do go public with it then they’ll ruin any chance they have of being friends with Kirby again. Remi thinks if Kirby cared about their friendship then she’d have told Forrest to let them play their songs. Justin leaves, his point made.

Roo makes it back to her room walking with a frame and gets herself into a chair. Leah and Bree are there to greet her. Bree admits to not having the final say about when Roo can go home but says she’ll let the specialists know how she’s progressing. She runs into Marilyn in the corridor. Marilyn says she was going to visit Roo but she’s probably resting. Bree encourages her to go in. Leah greets her warmly but Roo coldly says she was doing fine and refuses Marilyn’s attempt to help her.

Forrest turns up at the Diner flat with some extra invites that Kirby asked for, including ones for Eden and Remi. He still isn’t keen about her inviting her old bandmates, saying she needs people that will support her. Kirby says they’re her friends and, even if they don’t want to go, it would still feel wrong not to invite them. Down on the beach, Remi argues that the song is awesome and Justin isn’t their manager anymore. Eden thinks their fans will instantly know what the song is about. They conclude they need another way to decide.

Marilyn tries to ask Roo about going home and her physio. Roo gives blunt answers without looking at her and eventually asks why she’s there when she’s told her she isn’t welcome. Marilyn says that as her friend she’s going to keep turning up. Roo replies that they’re not friends. Marilyn leaves upset and Leah goes after her, passing Alf. He asks Roo what she’s done now. Roo tells him not to, saying it doesn’t help having Marilyn in her face.

Remi and Eden have set up for a game of pool at the surf club, with Remi on the verge of winning. Eden suggests best of three. Remi eventually concludes there’s a reason the decision is so hard and they wouldn’t be happy if Kirby wrote a song trashing them. At the hospital, Roo chats to physio Grant, who agrees she’s making good progress. As Roo’s heading back to her room, she overhears Alf on the phone to Martha, saying he won’t be able to come and see her because Roo won’t let Marilyn look after her.

At the Diner, Leah comforts Marilyn and apologises for telling her Roo would be fine. However, she still thinks Roo doesn’t hate her and is just frustrated. Marilyn says Roo’s like a sister to her and is worried how it’s affecting Alf and Martha. She then gets a text from Roo asking to meet her, with Leah confirming what it says. Marilyn arrives as Bree is giving Alf and Roo an update. Roo apologises for before, saying it wasn’t fair to take what happened out on her, and asks to be friends again, to which Marilyn agrees.

Kirby and Forrest find Leah, Justin and Theo at the Diner. Kirby presents Justin and Theo with invites for the launch, which include her new photo, which shows a more sophisticated look than usual. They both agree to come, with Leah as Justin’s plus one. Kirby goes to deliver more invites while Forrest stays for a coffee.

Kirby finds the Lyrik house empty. She props the photos up on the kitchen counter and then notices the handwritten lyrics, her mood falling as she reads it: “Remember when we made our pact that we could have it all?/How quickly you decided that was never said at all.” Eden and Remi arrive back and they tell her they weren’t going to perform the song. Remi tries to argue they’re just words and Kirby replies that she writes from the heart. Eden screws up the notes but Kirby stops her, saying the lyrics are great and she’s sure Remi has sorted out good music for them. Although still upset, she gives them the invites. Theo passes her as she leaves.

At the coffee cart, Leah and Justin discuss the launch, with Justin half-seriously wondering if he should bring some business cards for the attendees. Marilyn turns up and tells them about Roo making up with her. At the hospital, Alf tells Roo that he’s relieved she and Marilyn have sorted things out. Roo tells him he doesn’t have to worry about her and encourages him to go and see Martha.

Theo reads the lyrics and understands Kirby’s reaction. Bree arrives and sees the invites. Remi and Eden announce that they’re not going: They wish Kirby well and acknowledge she’s trying to be the better person, but they don’t feel they can celebrate with her. At the Diner flat, Kirby is watching the video of Someone Like You. Theo arrives and comforts her.

Leah arrives at the hospital and tells Roo that Alf is going to Merimbula and also that Marilyn is pleased she made up. Roo admits she didn’t mean it: She only did it for Alf and doesn’t think she’ll ever forgive Marilyn.
