Extended Summary

Remi is busking outside the surf club. Eden joins the crowd and comments that she thought he hated covers. Remi says the band hates covers but this is about earning money…although he hasn’t got much so far. Up on the balcony, Xander is on the phone to Felicity, asking if she thinks she should handle the event before assuring her he’s got it. After hanging up, he admits to Mali that he hasn’t got it. He calls out to Remi and Eden, inviting them up. When they get there, he explains about the hen night and needing music. Eden admits she doesn’t know when Cash will be back from police headquarters and Remi has nothing on. Xander offers $150 each. Eden gets him to agree to $200 plus dinner and drinks.

Downstairs, Justin buys some board wax from Mali and mentions seeing Kirby’s board. Leah comes over and Justin tells her Mali’s board designs are really good before her expression tells him he should be happy with the board he’s got. Remi and Eden come downstairs and Justin asks about their time away. Remi says they’re working on a song and Justin offers to look it over and give feedback.

At the coffee cart, John shows Marilyn the reaction he’s getting to the team-bonding but she isn’t interested. He also tries showing Irene and can see she has something on her mind. Alf turns up and Marilyn asks about Roo. Alf says she’s getting better and suggests Marilyn visit her. Marilyn doesn’t think that’s a good idea.

Remi and Eden head home, pleased to be gigging again. Remi asks why Eden was weird about the song and she says she only finished it for therapy and doesn’t want anyone to see it. Remi says it could be about anyone and suggests playing it for the hens. Eden points out it’s about betrayal.

Irene and John walk in a park area, Irene having filled John in. John says he knew something was fishy about Harper and thinks she and Dana took advantage. Irene says it was her choice and she wasn’t going to turn the girls in or throw them out. John thinks she could have handled things differently. Irene snaps that what’s done is done.

Marilyn serves Alf at the coffee cart. Leah and Justin arrive to get takeaway coffees and ask for a third one for Roo, since they’re going to see her. Justin says it must be nice for Marilyn to have her back. Marilyn admits she hasn’t seen her much and tells Leah she doesn’t need time off after all. Later, at the Diner, Alf talks to Martha on the phone about needing to be there when Roo comes out of hospital and chats to Irene about needing to referee Roo and Marilyn. John turns up and apologises to Irene, who says she shouldn’t have bit his head off but is worried about being arrested. John suggests they do some research to find out what she could be facing.

Mali is helping Xander set up the table, while Remi and Eden are also setting up. A young woman, Ally, appears wearing a maid of honour sash and introduces herself to Xander. She calls it a corporate nightmare, saying she requested pink decorations, and didn’t want a live band but a DJ and karaoke. Eden and Remi head home, dispirited. Eden searches down the back of the couch for drink money and Remi finds 20 cents and a piece of lint. Eden decides that Xander owes them for booking them and then cancelling.

While the hen night sit around the table looking miserable, Eden and Remi badger Xander until he agrees to give them two free drinks each. Ally comes over and tells Xander that the food, drink and decorations are nice but not what she ordered: She contacted them in advance to make it special and wants her money back. Xander retreats onto the balcony, thinking he’s let Mackenzie down. Mali follows and suggests an idea. He plays loud dance music and approaches the table, saying he heard a special lady was getting married. Ally indicates the stony-faced woman at the head of the table. Mali starts dancing with her and she soon looks more relaxed as the hens surround him, joining in. Eden asks Remi why he didn’t do that and Remi wonders if he’s going to strip. Xander hopes not. Ally congratulates Xander on having Mali up his sleeve.

At the Diner, John is doing research on his phone and tells Irene she could be charged as an accessory or with hindering an investigation, which potentially carries a penalty of 2-7 years. Irene is aghast. John tries to convince her not to panic, pointing out that she hasn’t been charged yet and not to worry before it happens.

Next morning, Alf approaches Marilyn at the coffee cart: He wants her to go and see Roo instead of him. Marilyn points out Roo doesn’t want her there. Alf thinks Roo isn’t herself at the moment and says this is a test of their friendship. At the Diner, Irene thanks John for supporting her last night. Alf and Marilyn turn up and Marilyn asks Irene for time off so she can go and make up with Roo.

Eden and Remi are playing All of You outside the surf club. Xander passes them, throwing money into their case, before congratulating Mali on last night. Mali wants him to keep it quiet, especially from Rose. Xander agrees but says Mackenzie has already had feedback. Justin and Leah stop by the music and Leah leaves Justin there while she goes to the hospital. Justin tells the pair they work great as a duo and they decide to show him what they’ve been working on.

They head back to the Lyrik house and show him what they’ve written. Justin reads the song which has lyrics like “Good luck to you, I’m glad we’re through/I won’t beg you to stay.” Justin instantly realises it’s about Kirby and says it’s strong and good but they’ll have problems if they sing it in public.
