Theo cops Remi’s fury. Bree is reminded of her dark past. Is Rose about to meet her father?
Extended Summary
Remi and Bree walk away from the surf club. Remi is furious about Justin and Theo meeting with Forrest and wants to go back and confront them. Bree stops him and tries to suggest it might be something that will benefit everyone. Remi thinks Justin doesn’t care about anyone except Theo. He walks away in the opposite direction to the surf club.
Back in Salt, Forrest announces he wants to hear what Theo’s like playing solo. Justin offers to arrange a date but Forrest wants to hear now. Theo says he left his guitar at home, so Forrest says they’ll head back there. Justin goes to settle the bill. Theo follows him and complains about Justin ambushing him. Justin reminds him he asked Mackenzie for a solo gig and insists he’ll be fine.
At the Diner flat, Kirby is at the table with her headphones on, practising song writing on her keyboard. She seems totally oblivious to Xander, who gives up on trying to eat at the table and moves to the sitting area. Rose and Mali come home but quickly head off to bed. Xander tries watching television but gives up when Kirby starts humming what she’s playing.
At the Morgan house, Theo asks Forrest if he’s allowed to play a song he and Kirby wrote and Forrest says just this once. Leah comes home and takes Justin outside for a chat, asking what’s going on. Justin insists this is good for Theo, gesturing to where he’s singing Someone Like You. At the same time, Remi and Bree are listening to the same song on the record. Remi says back then they were on the verge of something big: Now it’s just him, Eden and no songs.
Next morning, Justin, Leah and Theo walk through a park area, discussing the audition. Theo enjoyed himself but isn’t sure how to tell the others. Justin advises him to keep quiet for now. Theo sees Remi and Bree and goes over, asking Remi if he’s interested in songwriting. Remi asks if there’s anything Theo wants to tell him, then starts to walk away. Theo grabs his arm and Remi hits him. Bree tells Remi to walk away. Soon after, at the Diner, Justin and Leah watch Bree patching up Theo. Theo can’t understand why it happened. Bree tells them about seeing them with Forrest at Salt. Theo understands and tells Justin this was their fault.
Rose and Mali walk on the beach. Mali has a surf lesson shortly. Rose is uncertain about going back to see Samuel, imagining telling him she’s his daughter, probably, and asking if he had an affair with her mum in the 90s. Mali offers to go over it with her later. Rose heads back to the flat, where Kirby is glad for a break from the songwriting. Rose comments on how some people have trouble knowing what to say and Kirby notes she can just cross it out and start again if she goes wrong. Rose asks to borrow the notebook.
Back at the Morgan house, Theo tells Justin not to talk to Remi, since he’d be angry in his shoes. Forrest turns up and says he’d like to sign Theo. He leaves them a contract, telling Justin to look it over if he’s serious about learning how to do his job. Meanwhile, Remi is pacing in the park area. Bree appears and Remi apologises, saying he’s not that person and it won’t happen again. Bree says she’s heard all the excuses before.
Rose meets Mali at the end of his class and tells him she’s decided not to see Samuel: She’s written him a letter instead, after a few goes. Mali agrees it’s a good idea. As Rose delivers the letter to Samuel’s house, we hear a voice over where she says that he knew her mother Yvette Sanderson, she thinks he might be her father and she’s leaving her number, hoping he’ll get in touch.
Justin looks over the contract and tells Theo it’s a good deal. However, Theo refuses to sign it, saying he doesn’t want to be a solo artist, he wants to be in a band. Justin protests that there is no band but Theo says it’s Lyrik or nothing. He gets a text from Remi asking to meet and joins him by the beach. Remi apologises for hitting him. Theo tells him about the solo contract offer and turning it down, saying he still believes in Lyrik. At the Diner, Justin tells Leah he’ll have to go back to fixing cars full-time. They and Mali greet Alf as he comes in, reporting that Roo’s doing better and hoping to be home soon. Rose comes in and tells Mali she dropped the letter off.
At Salt, Xander complains to Bree about Kirby taking over the flat, with his mood not helped when Kirby appears from the balcony. Bree sees Theo and Remi come in and goes to join them. Kirby asks Xander if he has a problem with her moving in, since it was sprung on him, but Xander says they love having her there. Seeing Theo and Remi in the seating area, she decides to stay with Xander. Theo and Remi tell Bree they’ve sorted things and that the solo gig was Justin’s idea. Theo notes he can’t even do an interview on his own. He goes to get some drinks and Remi checks with Bree that they’re all right.
In the flat, Mali and Rose unpack food from the Diner, with Mali having got Rose chips since she’d pinch his otherwise. Rose’s phone rings and she says it’s Samuel.
