Can Felicity confide in Cash? Marilyn is rattled by a chilling threat. Lives are on the line for some of the Bay’s most loved residents.

Extended Summary

Cash and Rose are walking through a park area. Rose is amused that Cash chose to do paperwork rather than attend the Battle of the Bands. Cash says he wanted to get Andrew’s case finished: He’s pleased Andrew’s safe but feels bad about Justin being hurt. Rose tells him to take the win. Mali pulls up in his van, having just got back from his mum’s birthday, and Rose quickly ditches Cash to spend time with him.

Cash phones Eden, who is at the Parata house and rejects the call. Tane worries about how long Felicity’s been in the shower and wonders if he should check on her. He apologises to Eden for what he said before. Felicity emerges at that point. Eden decides to go and see Cash. Felicity reminds her not to tell him what’s happened.

Rose and Mali go to Salt. Cash is drinking at the bar and jokingly complains about Rose ditching hIm and then following him there. Rose asks if Elandra mentioned her. Mali says his mum’s coming up to meet her, then bursts out laughing at Rose’s worried expression. Eden turns up and Cash asks her about the competition. Eden just says they didn’t win. Cash offers his inheritance money again but Eden says they’ll think of something.

Tane tries to get Felicity to eat something before suggesting she goes to bed. He asks her about telling the police or Cash. Felicity tries to ask him about Kahu and New Zealand but Tane refuses to let her change the subject. Felicity says Cash has always warned her to be careful and look after her drink. Tane says the only person to blame is whoever did it and neither she nor Cash would blame someone in her position. Felicity cuts the conversation short and asks him to just hold her.

Eden and Cash are at the Lyrik house. Cash asks if she’s coming to bed and Eden says she’s not tired. Cash realises something is wrong but thinks it’s just about not winning the competition. Eden sends him off to bed. She then gets a text from Tane asking her to come over. He tells her that Felicity might talk to her. Eden joins Felicity out the back and tells her that Cash knows something is up but not that it involves her. She encourages Felicity to talk to him and to trust him.

At the Diner, Irene chats to John about the Stunning Organics boxes which they have just collected. They exchange a few words with Rose and Mali, before telling Marilyn and Roo that they just need to get the box from the office in the morning. Marilyn gets another threatening message saying she has 24 hours to retract the accusation. Roo says she should send it to the authorities but also calls it an empty threat, sending a reply that they’re not scared and to stop wasting their time. Up in the Diner flat, Mali shows Rose some photos while Rose tries to make out she didn’t miss him, before admitting she did. Mali takes one of her strawberries.

Next morning, Felicity meets up with Cash on the beach, which Eden has arranged. Falteringly, Felicity says that something bad happened: Her drink was spiked at the Battle of the Bands and she was sexually assaulted. She says she knows not to leave her drink and Cash says he’s not angry with her. She breaks down in his arms. They head back to the Parata house to see Eden and Tane. Felicity confirms they’ve talked before saying she needs to deal with what comes next.

At the Diner, Irene checks Marilyn is okay to cover Leah’s shifts while she’s looking after Justin and also that she’s easing off on the publicity. Marilyn thinks the worst is behind them. She then gets another message simply saying “Time’s up.” A silent phone call activates the bomb with a one hour countdown. The box is, of course, still with John, who runs into Roo on her way to the gym. Roo asks to go with him to the tip, since she has things to get rid of from the caravan park. John protests that he’s only got the van until 6pm or he’ll have to pay for another day but ends up giving up arguing. Next to them, the countdown is now 39 minutes.

A short time later, John and Roo briefly talk to Mali as they take out the stuff, with the bomb now at 16 minutes. Rose gets called round to the Parata house, where Cash says they need her help taking a statement. Felicity says she needs to report a sexual assault. Rose asks if she wants to do it there or at the station. Felicity chooses the station and asks Eden to come with her. After they’ve gone, Cash asks Tane if he’s all right. Tane fires the question back at him and Cash says not even close.

At the Diner, Marilyn wonders to Irene what the message meant. Irene suggests she go to the police. Marilyn then gets another message saying “Too late Boom”, with a picture of the bomb next to the box. Marilyn realises what it means and tells Irene to call the police. She dashes to the surf club and runs into Mali, who confirms John and Roo left with the box. Marilyn explains and Mali goes after them while Marilyn tries to phone Roo.

As Mali drives after the van, John and Roo are arguing over the radio. Roo hears her phone ringing but it’s in her bag, which she has to retrieve from the back. The countdown is now down to 45 seconds. Mali drives behind them, trying to get their attention, as Roo notices the missed calls from Marilyn. Recognising Mali, they pull over, with only 15 seconds left. Mali runs towards them, telling them to get out. As the last seconds tick away, John and Roo realise what he wants them to do. The van explodes, hurling Mali off his feet to the ground.
